Due to the nature of SCP - 001, containment is impossible. Due to the universal presence of SCP - 001, all instances are referred to as a single SCP, rather than all instances having a classification.
Many false files have been created alongside the real file to misinformate and prevent information about the nature of SCP - 001 being released to the general public. Revealing any information about this SCP to the general public is a cause for execution.
SCP - 001 refers to what is known as ‘the dark truth.’ ‘The dark truth’ refers to any instance of truthfulness that causes a sentient entity to feel negative emotion. Entities that are not emotionally affected by ‘the dark truth’ are considered to know too much, based on the principle that once experienced, an individual cannot feel the same emotionlevel of emotion again from that stimuli. This is similar to what is commonly called ‘getting used to it’. A trained physiatrist is able to determine emotions from an individual’s body language, therefore judging whether an individual is affected by SCP - 001. All affected entities are usually left to security agencies unless the instance of SCP - 001 directly concerns the Foundation, in which case a Mobile Task Force is dispatched to detain or eliminate the instance. Knowledge of SCP - 001 can be monitored via security forces such as the CIA.
