Pete's journal of fantastic events.
Everything is white. Can't see more than ten metres in front of me, as if distance itself is a concept incomprehensible to me. For so long, I had spent my life learning things; cultures, histories, people. I thought I knew how the world worked. Now, sat here in this frozen landscape, where my body will soon become another flake in a sea of snow, what little time I have left is spent dwelling on how wrong I was. God - Lucy, if I knew it would end like this, I would have gone with you - trust me I would.
"We are in day number - uhh what was it again? Babe - Care to help me out here?"
"I don't know, maybe it's say… forty-three? Yeah - forty-three sounds good. Nice middle of the road guess."
"As your ladyship commands."

I have a story in mind that I would like to develop regarding an average citizen that stumbles upon the Foundation whilst exploring the world. There's plenty of scope for this idea so it wouldn't be hard to develop in a backstory as to why someone would be venturing into weird places that are out of the view of the general public -e.g. explorer, scientist, adrenaline junkie skiing etc.
I am thinking a Siberian mountain wilderness setting for the Foundation site, due to its remoteness and the fact that a person on their own without supplies during a blizzard would be up shits creek. There are difficulties, of course. The Foundation would most likely enact further measures to prevent anyone getting near a facility, let alone to see it up close. I might be able to get around this by having a laser trip wire that surrounds the facility, but make it turn off due to a power outage caused by an SCP - which allows the protagonist to enter undetected. This power outage, of course, gives me an opportunity to have a containment breach - more on that later.
So, our lucky contestant stumbles across the Foundation research facility, at first seeing it in the distance. He assumes its some old Soviet bunker, through lack of vision caused by a mild blizzard, but as he gets closer, he notices flood lights and a chimneystack, signifying a human presence. He is quickly spotted and shot at. However, the poor visibility causes the shot to miss, and this is where a chase ensues. The chase comes to an abrupt end when the protagonist notices that he is no longer being followed, at least not by a human. This is where our SCP comes in.
From this point on, I have yet to think of a way to develop the story. I would love to hear any critiques, suggestions or otherwise, but I'm fairly certain that I want this guy to suffer major psychological trauma, and inevitably head for the only refuge of the foundation site. Would be a bit of a cliche to have everyone in the site dead due to the breach, so I may be able to have the site functioning but weakened by the breach, with our protagonist taken prisoner and turned D-Class. Either that, or a chance to develop the completely dead research site idea - a la 'The Thing' style of horror.
As I said before, let me know any critiques, suggestions or otherwise that you may have. I believe that this could serve as a cool short story.
