sumsky- The Theatrical Cycle

Item #: SCP-50XX

Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-50XX consists of many parts. SCP-50XX’s various parts require a wood-plastic composite storage chest to be properly contained. This chest must be contained in Site-50XX, which is the ruins of a school auditorium. SCP-50XX’s counterparts, SCP-50XX-1, SCP-50XX-2, SCP-50XX-3, and SCP-50XX-4 are to be placed in the storage chest. The chest needs to be placed in the back stage. The parts of SCP-50XX remain safe as long as they are not in view of anyone past the curtains of the front stage.

The main part of SCP-50XX, the written play, is to be placed directly on top of the storage chest. Anyone who reads SCP-50XX, whether it’s in their head or aloud (and anyone who hears it being read) is to be terminated immediately along with a full lockdown of Site-50XX.

Opening the storage chest or viewing SCP-50XX is strictly prohibited without approval from [REDACTED].

Description: SCP-50XX is a written theatrical play with animal costume counterparts. The written play is dated to be from 1963 and from Hillside Elementary School. It originally had 6 pages and no visible title. Anyone who has read any part of the play, whether it be inside their head or aloud (along with anyone who hears it) is immediately vulnerable to the effects of SCP-50XX-1, -2, -3, and -4. Reading SCP-50XX appears to begin the play, triggering SCP-50XX-1, -2, -3, and -4 to become sentient.

SCP-50XX-1, -2, -3, and -4 are SCP-50XX’s costume counterparts. They are extremely hostile. They correspond to the characters written in SCP-50XX. SCP-50XX-1 is a tattered grey elephant suit, consisting of the body and the head. It is approximately 3.2 meters in height. The head of SCP-50XX-1 has no eye-holes or mouth holes, leaving whoever wears it incapable of breathing properly.

SCP-50XX-2, -3, and -4 are nearly exactly similar to SCP-50XX-1, with the difference being that they are other mammalian animals. SCP-50XX-2 is a purple hippo, SCP-50XX-3 is a yellow and brown giraffe, and SCP-50XX-4 is a white and blue zebra. SCP-50XX-1, -2, -3, and -4 appear to become sentient once SCP-50XX is read and the cycle is triggered. They can move freely, but they do not speak or respond to commands. Any human who wears SCP-50XX-1, -2, -3, or -4 is forced to read their lines in the play. The actors voices will change to sound strained and childish.

As there are four characters in SCP-50XX, the other three costumes will seek out other humans to occupy their costumes and act for the play. SCP-5037-1, -2, -3, and -4 are all incredibly strong. They could quite easily break out of Site-50XX to possess the Foundation personnel guarding it. They do not stop searching until a human occupies them. They are not affected by any known weapon. When in physical contact with a human, the human immediately consents to wearing the costume. It is unknown what SCP-50XX-1, -2, -3, and -4 do to put humans under their influence. Every human that occupies -1, -2, -3, or -4 is known as SCP-50XX-1A, -2A, -3A, or -4A.

When the play has concluded, which takes at least thirty-five minutes, SCP-50XX-1A, -2A, -3A, and -4A are quickly killed and consumed by -1, -2, -3, and -4 whilst inside of them. When -1A, -2A, -3A, or -4A are consumed, another four pages are added to the written play. It is inferred that the play was originally 6 pages, and has increased to 58 since. The added content appears to be completely random and there is no known pattern. Once the four pages are added, -1, -2, -3, and -4 continue to search for more humans.

It should be noted that anyone who interrupts the play, even as something small like heavy breathing, will be attacked by -1, -2, -3, or -4.

There is not much to the plot of the play. The characters’ names are respective to their animal (Ex: Elephant, Hippo, Giraffe, Zebra). They pass around the script to eachother depending on whose line it is. The play discusses the greatness of 1963 suburban life, and briefly mentions John. F Kennedy and his death.

Every page after page six are repeats of one of the six pages or different songs from the time that the play was written.

The only known way to cease the beginning of a new play is to offer the costumes a family consisting of heterosexual parents and a male child, no older than eight years old, with the mother holding a bouquet of red and white roses. This must be done when the play concludes and before the costumes start searching for humans. If offered, the costumes will proceed to eat the family. SCP-50XX-1, -2, -3, and -4 appear to lift up the bottom of the costume head which reveals a mouth. The mouth appears inhuman and consists of several rows of sharp teeth, similar to a shark’s. After the family is eaten, the costumes proceed to return to the storage chest and collapse into an insentient pile of costumes.
