Item #: SCP-4921
Object Class: Euclid
Spacial Containment Procedures: The foundation keeps SCP-4921 contained inside of an active volacano coordinated ██° ██′ ██ N ██° ██′ ██″ E. Local name ████. The volcanic layer and stone walls surrounding it appear to be the only thing keeping it contained. A base inside of a hollow point of the volcano is the way the Organization studies and observes the creature. Images provided via satelite and (on rare occasions) drones, keep track on the creature's movements and heat signature.
Description: SCP-4921 is a being of gigantic proportions that appears to be sleeping inside of the volcano. Accurate measures have yet to be taken but estimates indicate that the creature is somewhere between 5 to 6 kilometers long and 3 killometeres tall. It has a torso and arms that strongly resemble that of a human male. However, its body from the waist down is far diferent. It posses four serpentine like tails which function as its legs. A set of wings is coming out of its back. However, it is not known wether these wings can be used for flight or if they are just for show. The wingspan of the creature is estimeated to be 4 kilometers long.
Perhaps the most interesting part of this creature is its head. While the whole creature is visible up to the neck, visibility is lost once you move above it. A raging fire is located to where the head should normally be. Heat scans have shown that this area is by far the hottest inside of the entire volcano, reaching temperatures up to 3,500 degrees Celcius. Potentially, it could reach temperatures as hot as the surface of the sun.Despite it's tremendous size, the extreme temperatures and pressure, as well as the lack of food, it's heart appears to be completely functional. Research that has been conducted on parts of its skin indicate that it has been stationed in the area for more than 135.000 years.
The description, as well as the location of the SCP, has led scientists to compare it with several mythical creatures. The Summerian Tiamat, the Egyptian Apep and the Babylonian Humbaba are all titles that have been used to describe the creature. However, one characterization reigns supreme among all the others: Typhoeus (or Typhon). The monster described in Greek mythology.

Discovery: Tales of the creature's existance are as old as 3000 years old but it was believed to be a myth up until 1897 when a Greek archeologist named ███████ ██████ came across one of the creature's tails during an excavation. Thinking it to be one just another layer of ground. Though for some reason, despite his attempts at digging through the strange hill, he couldn't even scratch it. Not even the explosives he used were effective. The Organization, traced his work and found out about the creature in 1943.
Relationship with the surrounding area: SCP-4921 appears calm and doesn't affect the environment that surrounds it. Sleep is all it does and hasn't appeared to have moved arround in a very long time. Despite its calm appearence, it has been observed to react to thunderstorms and any form of electricity that is above 1.000 watts. Whenever it is disturbed, it starts to move causing earthquakes and (possibly) volcanic eruptions. Thankfully, there hasn't been a strong enough movement to cause major damage in the past 40 years.
