Item #: SCP-####
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-#### is to be kept facing away from the door of a 1m x 1m windowless room and monitored by two security cameras to ensure safe observation. The room is comprised of Type-63 steel alloy and surrounded by reinforced concrete. The room is to be guarded by no less than three on-site security personnel with equipment sufficient to fully restrain any adult human, along with taser pistols and rubber bullets. Live ammunition is not to be fired around SCP-#### in order to minimize chances of fatality while under the effects of SCP-#### (See Experiment-Log-####-04 for further details). Any personnel found attempting to enter SCP-####'s containment chamber are to be reassigned immediately.
Description: SCP-#### was first discovered in a haunted house franchise location in ███████, Illinois after reports of anomalous activity and injury were brought to the Foundation's attention. Class-C amnestics were administered to haunted house staff and all known customers, and SCP-#### was retrieved without further incident.
Upon first appearances, SCP-#### appears to be an ordinary body-length mirror with ornate carvings of several unique demonic entities on the wooden frame1. The reflective surface of the mirror is free of any damage or blemishes that may render reflection difficult or impossible, though the wooden frame seems well-worn. While the reflective surface of the mirror is noticeably cold, the frame is reported to be almost too hot to touch. Analysis of the mirror has been unsuccessful in determining how SCP-#### maintains this temperature imbalance regardless of current atmospheric temperatures.
SCP-####'s primary anomalous effect occurs when a human subject views themselves in the mirror for a period between 2 to 13 minutes. To activate this anomalous effect, the subject must be either in the same room as SCP-#### or be no further than 15m away and viewing through a transparent surface. Indirect viewing of SCP-####, such as through security cameras, reveals no anomalous effects. When these conditions have been met, the subject will undergo a psychological effect in which they experience graphic visual hallucinations in which all wounds the subject has accumulated over their lifetime will seemingly recur, from the most recent injuries to the oldest injuries. These hallucinations are purely visual and exist only to the subject; those viewing the subject do not report any noticeable change in the subject's appearance and the subject experiences no pain from these illusions. Once this process has begun, subjects report a desire to maintain visual contact with the reflective surface of the mirror, though they may be removed without resorting to violence. Once the subject undergoes these hallucinations, they do not fade, even if removed from the presence of SCP-####, until the same subject experiences SCP-####'s second anomalous effect.
SCP-####'s secondary anomalous effect occurs an equal amount of time after the first, provided the subject is permitted to remain in visual contact with the reflective surface of SCP-####. Subjects report that the visual hallucinations cease near-instantaneously, as well as feeling much stronger emotionally than previously. Subsequently, the same process will begin anew, with injuries from most recent to oldest manifesting, though the injuries will truly manifest, commonly resulting in organ failure, brain damage, blood loss, hemorrhaging, and death. Despite the graphic nature of this effect, subjects' desire to maintain visual contact with the mirror greatly intensifies, resulting in the subject displaying violence towards any personnel attempting to remove them from SCP-####'s presence. Once this process has begun, it will continue until all wounds have recurred. Traditional medicine has been proven to be a viable solution to these injuries, though often severe blood loss leads to death before subjects can be stabilized.
In most cases, excessive blood loss and trauma cause the subject to fall unconscious prior to their death, but in █% of cases, subjects will maintain consciousness despite the loss of up to 85% of their total blood. In these cases, the subject will begin to mutter incoherently, approaching SCP-#### by any means available, often falling to the ground due to injury. Should the subject make physical contact with the reflective surface of the mirror, they are rapidly pulled in, along with any blood or tissue that was removed from their bodies as a result of their injuries2. Afterwards, SCP-#### returns to its normal state until it has not been viewed for 1 minute. After being unseen for at least 1 minute, the wooden frame will appear to have one less demonic entity carved into it. There are currently 13 9 entities remaining on the frame, and Dr. L███████ has ordered that the utmost security measures be taken to ensure that the number does not further decrease, as it is unknown what may happen should the number of entities reach 0.
Experiment-Log-####-04: Subject D-10762 was instructed to view themselves in SCP-####'s reflective surface until further instructions. At 7 minutes and 6 seconds, subject reported experiencing
SCP-####'s primary anomalous effect as usual. At this point in time, subject was terminated via gunshot by instructed personnel. Subject resisted all damage and turned to face personnel angrily. Before subject was allowed to make any movement towards the personnel, they were viewed to be dragged towards SCP-#### slowly and against their will, eventually being pulled in entirely. Upon 1 minute of being unseen, SCP-#### was seen to have 1 less demonic entity carved into the wooden frame. Further testing on termination of subjects while under the effects of SCP-#### suspended indefinitely.
Experiment-Log-####-07: Subject D-10205 was instructed to remain in the same testing chamber as SCP-#### and keep their eyes closed for the duration of the test. At 7 minutes and 2 seconds, subject reported vivid visual hallucinations, despite not viewing SCP-#### for this time period. When asked to describe said hallucinations, subject reported: "Demons. Everywhere. Oh my God they're everywhere! I can't escape! I gotta get out of here! Help me!" Subject immediately fell unconscious. Following this test, subject was rendered both blind and mentally insane, unable to speak on any subject matter other than demons.
Experiment-Log-####-08: Subject D-10567, visually blind, was led into SCP-####'s testing chambers and ordered to remain inside until further instructed. At 4 minutes and 37 seconds, subject reported a voice in her head. When asked to describe the voice, subject reported: "It's me! It-it's my voice, but I'm not thinking anything! Or-or saying anything! God, it won't stop! Make it stop talking! Please!" Further questioning proved ineffective in yielding response from the subject. Following this test, subject was deemed mentally insane, constantly referring to voices in her head.
All testing of SCP-#### in the termination of SCP-682 is currently pending approval.
