Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-xxxx is to be stored in a cardboard box in Site 13's safe storage room. Testing is permitted to all willing personnel. Description: SCP-xxxx is a 22x14x5cm book titled "Une Compétition Pour Les Âges" (French for "A Competition For The Ages"). The pages are all blank, yet SCP-xxxx is noticeably worn, as if from frequent use, despite the fact that there is no content to read. When SCP-xxxx is opened, the person who opened it will experience vivid hallucinations and visions of a dystopian setting. During this time they appear dazed and unresponsive, before awakening suddenly after anytime between a few minutes and several hours. Each subject has reported seeing the same general events, with a few small details changing occasionally. They appear to be in the place of a spectator of an arena. Other arenas are visible in the distance. In the arena, 10 people are sitting in chairs with books reportedly identical to SCP-xxxx, with one of them appearing identical to the subject who opened the book. They are overseen by a figure in an elevated position. The figure [DATA EXPUNGED], followed by 9 of the 10 people being ripped apart by the spectators, including the subject who opened the book. The vision promptly ends, and the subject seems to suffer no further ill effects.
As of Addendum xxxx-1, when opened, the subject that opened SCP-xxxx vanishes along with SCP-xxxx. The subject appears in a dystopian setting, in a chair that is part of a circle of ten chairs, inhabited by other entities (thus referred to as SCP-xxxx-A). The nine SCP-xxxx-A instances appear humanoid in nature, but seem to have their eyes replaced by dark 'voids'. The subject is forced to partake in a competition against the SCP-xxxx-A instances, overseen by a middle-aged Caucasian male dressed in luxorious clothing (thus referred to as SCP-xxxx-B). They are surrounded by a crowd of cheering spectators (thus referred to as SCP-xxxx-C). The subject and the SCP-xxxx-B instances are tasked to write the most entertaining story they can into a book resembling SCP-xxxx. They are given two weeks to write what they can, before being judged upon by SCP-xxxx-B. After a few minutes of deciding, SCP-xxxx-B points towards one of the participants, deeming them the winner. The SCP-xxxx-C instances undergo a drastic physical change. Their nails and teeth become elongated and sharp, which they then use to tear their skin apart in a violent manner. All participants who were not deemed the winner will immediately be swarmed and ripped apart by the SCP-xxxx-C instances). If the subject was deemed the winner, they will immediately appear in the place and position they were in when they opened SCP-xxxx,suffering no further ill effects, otherwise their remains will appear instead, in a [REDACTED] state.
Addendum xxxx-1:
As of ██/██/2015, SCP-xxxx's anomalous effects changed in a seemingly random event. Researcher Pitchford opened SCP-xxxx and seemingly vanished, along with SCP-xxxx, witnessed by Dr. ██████ and Dr. ███. He suddenly reappeared two weeks later while a technician was on-site, causing a mild panic.
