(this is all really messy, when you get around to it, please re-write it, only once you re-write it you can go around asking for crit)

Joshua slowly held his chest as he held his breath against the choking darkness of the supply closet, Joshua knew that he needed to be as quiet as possible, not only to listen for the chimes but for his own safety. He stood there, for what felt like forever until he slowly pushed the door open, clenching his teeth as he heard the audible creek of it opening. He peaked outside of the crack, holding himself there until he was sure it was clear as he began to open it fully to allow himself to step outside. As he stared down the hallway stained with blood, he began to walk down, shifting his eyes and head around to make sure he was fully aware of his surroundings. As he walked down and slowly started to approach one of the site’s break rooms, his stomach dropped as he smelled the scent of burnt daffodils. He slowly leaned his head to take a peak and confirmed his suspicions, as he stared at a corpse of one of his co-workers, impaled with the basalt barbs and covered in ashen veins and smoldering daffodils. He quickly started to move on, trying to distract himself with the slated goal of finding the site director’s office, trying not to dawdle on this one area. Whatever was hunting them, he didn’t fully understand the hunting pattern and considering the state of the site, he didn’t really have enough time to figure it out yet. As he turned a corner to his left, his heart skipped a beat, his vision slowly turning to frost as he saw the silhouette around it. He started to run, fast when he saw it, his heart beating fast and in his haste he catches his foot and falls face first into the ground. He scrambled on his hands as he tries to get up, but he feels the wind against his hair, the soft wind chimes and birds chirping as he feels a sharp pain from his leg for only a second, until it becomes numb. His body shakes, until he collapses against the ground, falling unconscious.

Joshua slowly woke up to calm stillness as he slowly got up. His entire body just felt like cotton, and he stared down at his leg, covered in blooming daffodils and the veins bulging, colored ashen. “Fuck…” is all he could get through his gritted teeth as he slowly stood up, and started to limp towards the closest bathroom, opening the door and smelling the thick aroma of smoldering daffodils, and a few corpses huddled in the bathroom. As Joshua stared at the unopened first aid kit, he knew he had to act fast as he started to hobble over it, gritting his teeth as he basically was dragging dead weight as his leg, and grabbed it. He popped it open and sat down, inspecting his leg. Whatever these things are, they obviously weren’t torturers due to the natural anesthetic that accompany these stingers. He grabbed the basalt hard, and with a solid breath ripped it out.

The first experience he felt when it ripped out was nothing, just blood slowly pooling, the hole was around the width of 3 fingers, and it was deep as he looked down into it, seeing bone for a split second before blood started to fill in. Then the pins and needles started to come in as his entire leg started to burn in pain, unconnected and ripped nerve endings signaling that everything was wrong. He bit his teeth hard, trying not to scream as he opened the strongest pain killers and took several, of course in the long term this would’ve destroyed his liver, but he didn’t really have the long term to worry about right now as he started to bandage his leg up in a pathetic attempt to stop the bleeding, he didn’t exactly the best time to properly take care of the wound, or even dress it as he needed to get going fast. Once he was finished, he closed the first aid kit, carrying it with him, just in case as he got up, putting most of his weight on his good leg as he slowly limped out, he was close now.

As he reached his office, he let the scanner take in his fingerprint, and the door opened for him. He closed the door behind him, locking it as he stumbled towards the chair at his desk, and collapsing on it. He stared at his computer, shaking the mouse to wake it up so he can start to input his password. The computer slowly buffered, humming to life as it booted up, the fan offering the only noise in the entire room besides his breath. Once it was up, it suddenly pinged as the site AIC sent him an urgent message:

“Joshua. The situation is critical, your assistance is required.”

Joshua ignored it, slowly opening up the AEGIS intranet. What he saw made his stomach drop, he had council level permissions.
