The Surrogate

Item #: SCP-Blank

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-Blank is to be kept in a 35 x 35 x 10 meter standard containment room in Site-77. Room originally not decorated but over time slightly padded white cushions and warm colors have been added all over the room in order to amplify its effects. It is unknown if the decorations increase its actual power or if it is simply average psychological manipulation.

Description: SCP-Blank appears to be a cracked empty glass baby bottle with a rubber nipple. Written with crude marker on the front is, "For:" with nothing after. No type of liquid is stored inside the bottle. Filling it with any does not change its already present effects. It is inanimate and doesn’t move but seems to have a present kind of sentience whenever it is active.

SCP-Blank functions by using a force to intellectually and emotionally influence others. When a D-Class comes within a 10 meter radius of the object they will begin to enter a calmed state. D-Class tested will eventually take a seat and act as if they are listening to something. When asked about this fact they will answer that they are receiving help. If asked about what or where they are receiving help from they will respond with uncertainty but will proceed with whatever they’re doing regardless. If questioned on the type of help they are being given, the subject will always respond with enthusiasm and offer to give as many details as possible. The D-Class will say that they feel as if something has been fulfilled in their life that had been previously missing. This can either be a topic or a role.

If they answer with a topic, it will always be something they themselves had struggled with in the past. Prolonged exposure to SCP-Blank results in more advanced comprehension of the topic and if left alone with the object for an exceptionally long time, will result in complete mastery. Mastery is determined when the subject will begin to experience strong migraines and exemplify an advanced knowledge of the topic. No other symptoms after are present. The process cannot be repeated once mastery has been attained of one skill and the length to which the skill can be be learned depends on multiple factors such as complexity and previous knowledge.

If the subject answers with a role, they will most likely respond with a mentor. However, other roles such as social and parental are also given commonly as well.

When a subjects brain has been scanned, the brain will show enhanced growth of the cerebrum and highly increased activity. Positive symptoms are even more amplified when placed in a more “comforting” environment leading to decoration of cell to further help. No negative symptoms or addictions to the experience seem to be present for most patients. The object only shows a “dislike” for some subjects. These D-Class always have a background relating to them inducing harm or death on a child. If the object senses this past, the D-Class will continue to feel woozy. After a few moments or so the D-Class will begin to yell either barely coherent statements or nonsense, and experience [REDACTED] causing the subject’s cerebrum to explode resulting in expiration. Other D-Class have been tested to replicate the result with murderers and rapists but the object only reacts if the subject has committed a heinous crime upon a minor. Each test with one of these outliers causes another crack to form on SCP-Blank, so repeated testing with them is not advised to prevent possible neutralization of the object.
