Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: Item SCP-5XXX is to be kept in an empty, locked room with at least 2 reality anchors at all times. The anchors may only be removed during testing. Site directors and above are allowed to enter the room or give orders to D-Class personnel to enter the room. No equation resulting in a solution with an absolute value above 1,000 is to be entered without specific orders from an 05 Council member. No equation resulting in a solution with an absolute value above 10,000 is to be entered unless specific orders from a majority of the Council. No one is ever to divide by zero, find the square root of 2 or negative 1, graph an undefined slope, include Pi in any equation, or similar undefined or infinite values without first specifying an area of effect, unless specific orders are given unanimously from the 05 Council. While SCP-XXXX is classified as "Safe" it is to be under constant surveillance and guard. Should a complex enough or large enough equation be entered, it could cause a reality-ending scenario.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a black Casio fx-7000G graphing calculator. It was recovered in the town of ████████ on the U.S. East Coast, on November 5th, 201█. It is currently in damaged but working condition. Several cracks are located across the surface of the calculator, showing concentration on the corners. The screen is partially dislocated at the top right corner. The paint shows no signs of chipping or flaking, but it is slightly faded. It has a copyright sticker on the back that is partially torn off. Attempts to remove this sticker without damaging the calculator have proven unsuccessful. SCP-XXXX-1, the accompanying instruction booklet, is blank while SCP-XXXX is inactive. The man and the police where issued amnesics.
SCP-XXXX and SCP-XXXX-1 were found in the wreckage of a house belonging to a recently deceased elderly woman. A 23 year old male was found among the wreckage. Upon questioning, he stated that he was the grandson of the woman. He found the calculator in the attic of the house. He then entered "341-46" to see if the calculator worked. It then began counting down in seconds from 295. About four minutes later, he saw the calculator again, in which it had counted down significantly. He watched the calculator count down the remaining 50 seconds. When the calculator reached zero, the house collapsed. The police station in which he was being held, entered "5+2" into the calculator, in which it began to count down from seven. When it reached zero, the table in which it was on tipped onto its side. The FBI Unusual Incidents Unit then confiscated the calculator and transferred it to Site 11. Further testing of SCP-XXXX showed that, when solving simple equations concerning addition, subtraction, or multiplication, the greater the solution of the equation entered, the more drastic the effect it causes. Once the countdown has begun, it cannot be stopped.
When an equation is entered into SCP-5XXX a French word or phrase will appear written in SCP-XXXX-1. The word will disappear when SCP-XXXX finishes counting down. The word vaguely describes the event that will happen when the calculator reaches zero. When SCP-XXXX was placed in a cardboard box and had "5x2" entered into it, SPC-XXXX-1 read "accident de livraison" and the box that contained SCP-XXXX fell apart nonviolently.
Test Log:
Test 1: The calculator rests on a table by itself. A D-Class is ordered to enter the room. The D-Class is instructed to graph a 2 meter radius circle. Around the calculator appears a bubble of slightly green-tinted space. The D-Class is ordered to press the clear button. The bubble disappears. The D-Class leaves the room.
Test 2: The calculator rests on a table with 1 green pen, 2 blue pens, and 3 white pens. A D-Class is ordered to enter the room. The D-Class is instructed to graph a 5 foot circle. Around the calculator appears the same bubble of slightly green-tinted space, 5 feet in radius. The D-Class is ordered to enter "2-1" into the calculator. One of the blue pens, along with one of the D-Class's shoes breaks in half. The D-Class is ordered to press the clear button. The bubble disappears. The D-Class leaves the room with her broken shoe in her hands.
Test 3: The calculator rests on a table by itself. A D-Class is ordered to enter the room. The D-Class is instructed to graph a square 1 meter in length. Around the calculator appears the bubble of slightly green-tinted space, this time cube-shaped. The D-Class is ordered to enter the speed of light into the calculator, in meters, minus 50%. The D-Class is ordered to walk behind the cube. The image of the D-Class, when obscured by the cube, lags slightly behind where he is when viewed regularly. The D-Class is ordered to press the clear button. The bubble disappears. The D-Class leaves the room.
