Item #: SCP-3xxx
Object Class: Euclid (pending Keter)
Special Containment Procedures Park is to continue to run as normal during business hours, though operatives in guise as civilians are to monitor unusal activity, backed through satellite and security camera surveillance. During the park’s closing hours, a team of no less than 15 Foundation agents masquerading as local police officers are to patrol for anyone who is in or attempting to enter the park and are to remove them from the premises by any means necessary (including by force and/or with amnestics).
Description: SCP-3xxx is a 91 acre park containing a reservoir located in [REDACTED]. It is hilly and highly sloped.
SCP-3xxx’s anomalous properties manifest typically during the hours the park is closed, however there have been occasions where they occur while the park is open. During these hours, individuals may begin to feel excessively fatigued in a manner similar to being administered anesthesia. They will feel the need to lie down and rest, typically on the fields of grass, and will then fall asleep. Once they achieve REM sleep (which occurs much more rapidly than usual, if not immediately) their bodies will begin to “fade away” becoming less tangible and visible as time goes on until they completely disappear. This sequence does not occur in all individuals, it is completely random who is or isn’t affected.
Individuals will remain missing for between 24-(blacked out) hours before rematerializing in a similar manner as they left at the same location they. Subjects will typically be in a state of confusion and fear (as would be expected in such a situation), though they also feel a compulsion to repeat the events they undertook. This compulsion is permanent (it cannot be removed through any known means) and it becomes more prominent the longer the subject is away from SCP-3xxx, to the point that it becomes all they can think of, and it may lead to violence. No other anomalous psychological effects have been reported at this time.
Subjects affected by SCP-3xxx have described the events they experienced during their disappearance as similar to a lucid dream, only they have no control over it, instead another entity occasionally referred to as “The Boy” (and hereby referred to as SCP-3xxx-A due to its significance) is in control. They almost invariably describe waking up where the fell asleep in the park, and describe their sightings as near identical to it (albeit during the day instead of night) except for anomalies such as:
- The abscence of any and all humans and animals other than the subject
- The abscence of any clouds in the sky, even when it rains
- The vegetation is typically unusual and/or anomalous in some manner.
- The geography and topography of the park may have shifted (or does shift during the course of the subject’s time there)
- Any graffiti, signs, or markings located in the park have changed (typically to something related to the subject and their relation to SCP-3xxx-A)
- The prescence of a massive anomalous being underneath SCP-3xxx which is has been referred to as SCP-3xxx-A’s “pet” (and hereby referred to as SCP-3xxx-B), which subjects apparently become aware of through an almost instinctual feeling of paranoia
- Most notably, the changes in physical properties of the reservoir’s water (and sometimes the basin itself).
