Special Containment Procedures: Due to the inability to contain SCP-6744 occurrences, Mobile Task Force Eta-7 "Party Crashers" has been tasked with monitoring SCP-6744 manifestations. After a SCP-6744 phenomenon has occurred, Eta-7 is to apprehend the subjects and they are to be transported to Research Site-45 for further monitoring and research. Under no circumstances are researchers and staff allowed within ten meters of affected individuals for periods longer than one (1) hour. After phenomenon has been concluded, individuals are to be administered Class-B amnestics and released back into society.

Description: SCP-6744 is a phenomenon that occurs within the proximity of a newlywed couple. The couple cannot have been wed more than 75 hours previous and must be within 10 meters of a third human for one (1) continuous hour.

If both conditions are met, one or both of the newlyweds will switch consciousnesses either with each other or with the other human subject. This process does not seem to be painful although it has caused multiple individuals to lose consciousness. It is currently unknown how SCP-6744 chooses its targets. To date, there have been 105 accounts of SCP-6744 manifestations, all within California. The only way to reverse SCP-6744's effect is for the original subjects to remain within a ten meter range of each other for an additional hour. If the proximity is broken at any time within the hour, the afflicted individuals must repeat the consciousness reintegration process again.

Discovery: SCP-6744's anomalous properties were first discovered after Researcher Tygan and Researcher Allan celebrated their marriage at Site-45 in November of 2019. During the party, both researchers switched bodies, causing panic. Both researchers managed to reverse the effects and returned to normal.

Note from Researcher Allan after discovery: When you switch bodies with people, it feels like you're wearing a mascot suit, it just doesn't fit right on your body. It feels like you're wearing someone else's skin and you can't do anything about it except wait. It's horrible.

Additional Notes: It appears that certain requirements must be met in order for SCP-6744 to manifest. Requirements are mostly unknown at this time, but there is speculation that is listed below.

  • There must be under 30 participants at the ceremony.
  • It must take over two minutes to perform the wedding vows.
