Item #: SCP-6520
Object Class: Euclid Keter
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-6520 is a physical location, and therefore, cannot be contained within a facility. It is barred off the rest of the country south of ████. Only staff with security clearance 3 or higher are allowed to enter the containment area. The entity is encased in a steel box 3-ft. thick, with the dimensions of 150 ft. x 250 ft. x 35 ft. No personnel or staff are permitted to enter the containment area of SCP-6520, unless authorized by Level 4 or higher security clearance. No personnel or staff are authorized to remove any contents of SCP-6520 under any circumstances.
Description: SCP-6520 is a small pool south of the country of ████, containing a black liquid. It is unknown the depth or volume of SCP-6520, but investigations have said, "It goes down forever." The liquid inside is the same viscosity and density of hot tar. There are no thermal readings of SCP-6520, and therefore, instruments used to measure the content of SCP-6520 show that it does not exist.
The entity remains dormant until a device or organism enters SCP-6520, which prompts the entity to change in shape. An organism that enters SCP-6520 can be seen sinking into the liquid, with futile attempts to escape. The ███ of the organism are then ████ and fashioned into chains, rope, or other suspension tools. What remains of the organism is suspended from SCP-6520 from these suspensions, covered in the same liquid that encompasses SCP-6520. Devices that make contact with SCP-6520, who are being held by a human, are seen having this same effect.
The liquid found on the suspensions or organisms contain a carcinogenic substance, that will infect any organism that comes in contact with it. D-Class personnel who were prompted to touch the substance on the deceased organisms, were found diagnosed with cancerous tumors around the areas of contact.
If any organism makes visual contact with any individual inside SCP-6520, recording or physical, the carcinogen will spread to the organism. The virus will spread to the organism's brain, removing any nervous or brain function. After about 50 minutes, the host will then transform into a quadrupedal entity entitled SCP-6520-1. SCP-6520-1 appears to be made of the same liquid of SCP-6520, with roughly the same mass as the original host. Any contact with SCP-6520-1 will elicit the same carcinogenic response. Depending on the location of contact, the process of transformation will lengthen or decrease.
Each organism affected by SCP-6520-1, or witnessing the individual inside SCP-6520, will also transform into SCP-6520-1, although studies have shown augmentations to appear on the host's form, similar to that of SCP-939.
As of ██/██/████ at ██:██ PM, a scouting pod was lowered into SCP-6520, using a robotic suspension. Four cameras positioned on the inside of an acrylic plastic shell were positioned to document any findings inside SCP-6520.
The following is an excerpt of the audio recordings of the scientist controlling the device from the surface:
**<Begin Log, ██:██>
Dr. ████: The device appears to be functioning. Current observations show no unusual variances in the liquid. Continuing to monitor.[A small amount of time passes before a sound of shuffling papers can be heard]
Dr. ████: Sensors indicate something irregular is moving inside the entity. There seems to be some sort of face looking back at one of the cameras. If I'd have to describe it, it looks, scared. Like it's screaming…
[The sound of scraping glass, followed by shrill scream, before audio cuts out]
**[Audio returns to hear a gurgling noise, followed by return gunfire, and radio chatter]
<End Log, ██:██>
Addendum:
As of the investigation that took place on ██/██/██, the classification of this device has been changed to Keter, as well as modifications to the original page.
