SCP-XXXX's Cover on original containment.

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be stored in the Anomalous Texts Storage Room 18 at Site-██. It is to be placed into any locker marketed or produced for use in standard schooling environments. The locker is to be secured with a Master Lock-brand 1500D 48mm Wide Combination Dial Padlock. The Combination is to be set to 4-8-2 and kept locked when tests for SCP-XXXX are not in progress. If the anomalous properties of SCP-XXXX manifests prior to the expected times, SCP-XXXX is to be returned to it's locker and the lock is to be locked. Research is to be cancelled until SCP-XXXX-A is terminated by On-Site security personnel, succumbs to its anomalous properties or terminated by Zyklon-B injected into its containment chamber.

Instances of SCP-XXXX-A are to be contained in a standard humanoid containment chamber in Site-██. The chamber is to be fitted with 4 standard-issue air scrubbers. The chamber is to be on a closed-loop air supply with one 25-liter Zyklon-B tank, compressed to 80 PSI. The injection pump must be able to fully inject the 25 liters in under five seconds. Two (2) security personnel are to be stationed outside all chambers where instances of SCP-XXXX-A are contained.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a 102-page booklet measuring 13cm x 21cm x 0.7cm. SCP-XXXX's text and images are printed in a non-anomalous ink.

SCP-XXXX was authored by Dr. Peter Jackson1 a professor for ████████ College, Dublin. He had a P.h.D. in Chemistry and Biology, and an ex-Chief Intendant of the Junior Certificate2
SCP-XXXX was printed by The Celtic Press an Irish printing company and distributed by Essentials Unfolded another Irish company.

SCP-XXXX's anomalous effects only manifest after a homo sapien has read a page of SCP-XXXX excluding pages I, II, 1 and the Author's note.

All those infected with the anomalous effects of SCP-XXXX should henceforce be referred to as SCP-XXXX-A and detained in the appropriate containment as laid out in the Special Containment Procedures.

Those within three meters of SCP-XXXX experience a 'nagging feeling'. One finds it akin to being aware of one's breathing or position of one's tongue in one's mouth. It does not drag one towards the object but gives an irritating feeling which could only be subsided by reading SCP-XXXX. Experimentation shows that with sufficient distraction, strong mental will or those with intense procrastination can become immune to the attraction effects until next exposed to SCP-XXXX.

SCP-XXXX's effects manifest two hours after reading a page. If more than one page but less than ninety four is read, the two hours are multiplied by the amount of pages read, this is how long it will then take for the effects to manifest. If ninety four pages or above are read, the effects manifest instantaneously after completing the final page. SCP-XXXX appears to be able to know when SCP-XXXX-A has completed reading and can autonomously count. When the manifestation timer expires, SCP-XXXX emits a five millisecond alpha ray burst and heats up by five degrees Celsius before cooling to room temperature over the course of one hour. The reason for the alpha ray emission or temperature increase is unknown, however may be a link the ██████ ███████ ███████████ discovered in the first recorded instance of SCP-XXXX-A.

Those who have just completed reading SCP-XXXX but have not manifested the effects, cannot be terminated until the effects completely manifest, all attempts to terminate SCP-XXXX-A instances have resulted in no success, no damage is present to the instance or its attire. Once the effects of SCP-XXXX manifests on an instance of SCP-XXXX-A, it can only be terminated through blunt-force trauma or inhalation of toxic aerosols, the reasoning for this is unknown but possibly associated with the death of Dr. Peter Jackson, who was killed after a robbery at his house, where he was beaten with a copper tube and forced to inhale an aerosol canister of male deodorant.
