Item #: SCP-4961
Object Class: Safe Keter
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4961 is to be kept in a standard room designed to be perceived as a normal high-end hotel room. Class D subjects are to be introduced into said room on a weekly basis one at a time. (Unless otherwise permitted by personnel of Level 4/4961 or higher with the express purpose of experiments or cross-testing). [DATA EXPUNGED] is to be used on the northern wall to simulate windows and exterior life. Under no circumstances must the subjects introduced to the room feel threatened. This room should be monitored on an unchanging interval of once every two days for no more than thirty minutes at a time. Once a period of eight days has passed, Authorized personnel must enter the room using janitorial uniforms to clean and restore the status of the room before the introduction of a new Class D subject. This authorized personnel must introduce the new subject(s) into the room disguised as typical hotel room service.
Due to the results of Incident SCP-4961-I, the following information is to be kept for further investigation into SCP-4961's behavioural patterns:
LEVEL 4/4961 CLEARANCE REQUIRED
The files ahead are restricted to personnel with Level 4/4961 clearance only. Please do not attempt to open the following documentation without approved clearance.
Description: SCP-4961 is a ██████ ██████ brand pocket watch, approximately 60mm in diameter and 20mm thick released to the public circa 1923. Its exterior is a decayed bronze colour with hints of green, samples taken of SCP-4961's exterior reveal the material to be solid gold, the reason for the discolouration is currently unknown. In contrast to its exterior, SCP-4961's interior seems to retain its pure gold colouring, experimentation using [DATA EXPUNGED] has failed to replicate the colouring of its exterior coating.
SCP-4961 was found in ██████, within █████ ██████, Germany within the possession of Edward ██████. Questioning of the individual revealed no relevant information.
[Refer to INTERVIEW LOG SCP-4961-01]
SCP-4961 is observed to engross the full attention of the being closest to its vicinity (This being needn't be human), through a seemingly telepathic broadcast of its clock hands ticking. Interviewed victims of SCP-4961 are seen to often succumb to daydreams and hallucinations of SCP-4961 and commonly express interest in SCP-4961, bringing attention to it often, including situations of little to no correlation. Once the individual has spent enough time within the area of effect of SCP-4961, it is found to approach it and refuse any separation from it.
(Individuals under SCP-4961's influence are to be titled SCP-4961-XXX. And will from now on be referred to as "Instances" of SCP-4961.)
Instances of SCP-4961's will attempt to act normal, however, they seem incapable of showing emotion. They seem to act intending to move SCP-4961's location to one where it is within a multiple of people. Instances of SCP-4961 have been observed to attempt tossing SCP-4961 out the enclosure's simulated window, flush SCP-4961 down the room's toilet, throw SCP-4961 through the ventilation system, ask to be let out of their rooms, among other behaviours. These are considered normal and the enclosure provides the security needed so that SCP-4961 never exits the room. It has been observed that if a person is in distress or is within the effect of heavy emotion, SCP-4961 will disregard them and try to target another individual in a calmer state of mind. In the few instances it has influenced emotional targets, it has immediately killed them.
Notes:
- SCP-4961 seems incapable of affecting more than one person at a time.
- Within the period of a week, SCP-4961 will cause the death of the instance of SCP-4961-XXX currently affected.
- If forced removal of the individual is executed, the individual will perish spontaneously once further than half a kilometre from SCP-4961.
- If no living organisms are near SCP-4961, it will expand the broadcast of its ticking by 100m every twenty-three hours and fifty-nine minutes. No clear limit to its range has been yet observed.
