Item #: SCP-xxxx

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-xxxx is currently contained to an uninhabited area of █████, ███ █████. A perimeter is to be maintained around this area at all times, with semi-daily expeditions performed in order to ascertain the position of SCP-xxxx, and any deviations in behavior described below are to be reported immediately.

Should at any point full containment of SCP-xxxx become viable, it is to be achieved with a standard humanoid containment cell equipped with several wall-mounted ledges and handholds capable of supporting SCP-xxxx's full weight.

Description: SCP-xxxx is a human or humanoid of unknown gender, ethnicity and origin heavily augmented with what appears to be a crudely constructed mechanical exoskeleton. Mounted upon the entity's backside are four insectoid wing-like limbs, visually similar to that of a moth. It is currently unknown if these "wings" are artificial or organic in origin, and have not been matched to any known species of moth. SCP-xxxx stands at a little under one and a half meters, and its weight has been estimated at normal for a human of its size despite the presence of heavy metal equipment adorning its body.

SCP-xxxx's power source has not been identified, and many of its external mechanisms are still under analysis. The entity does not appear to be capable of flight, with its primary form of transport instead being swinging or crawling along metal cables of varying thickness which it appears to produce regularly, often attached to large hooks at either end (recovered samples pictured). It is also capable of crawling along most surfaces regardless of material or angle.

When SCP-xxxx is not being knowingly observed, it will enter Pattern X Behavior, during which it will attempt to hide itself away from potential observers, position cables in preparation of future movements or explore the surrounding area. When SCP-xxxx becomes aware of a human observer, it will enter Pattern Y Behavior (known colloquially as "Dance" or "Dancing" behavior) during which it will utilize its cables to perform various flips and movements reminiscent of a dance or circus performance. During this Pattern SCP-xxxx will usually move in a circular fashion around the observer and/or attempt to draw them out into a more open area. This behavior has been observed to place subjects into a trance-like state, although SCP-xxxx has not been confirmed to have any memetic or cognitohazardous properties and the resulting effects have been deemed negligible in terms of overall impact on containment efforts. After approximately 20 minutes of Pattern, SCP-xxxx will attempt to move away from observers and resume Pattern X Behavior.

SCP-xxxx has not shown to be capable of vocalization, however it is thought to posses limited sentience and appears to be capable of interpreting and mimicking basic body language and emotion, sometimes using simple gestures to interact with observers during pauses in "Dancing".

Incident Report ██/██/██: Agents ███████ and ████████, designated Alpha and Beta, performed a routine excursion into the area inhabited by SCP-xxxx. SCP-xxxx was located and commenced Pattern Y Behavior without incident. During the event Alpha attempted to get closer to SCP-xxxx and tripped on a low-hanging group of cables, resulting in Alpha being knocked unconscious and causing several minor lacerations. SCP-xxxx ceased Pattern Y Behavior, dropped down to the ground and moved closer to Alpha, at which point Beta drew their sidearm. SCP-xxxx retreated, allowing Alpha to be retrieved and carried back to Headquarters. The entity made several more attempts to approach the agents but was repeatedly discouraged by Beta holding their weapon in a threatening position. Personnel recovered and treated without incident.
