Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a standard containment unit at Site-███. Authorized researchers are allowed semi-regular access to SCP-XXXX. Any new inscriptions appearing on SCP-XXXX are to be immediately recorded. SCP-XXXX may not be removed from its containment unit and a moderate amount of scrap iron is to be supplied to and kept within SCP-XXXX's containment unit at all times.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a medium-sized metallic construct resembling a hand-held harp or lyre. The body of SCP-XXXX consists of five interlocking tubes, designated as SCP-XXXX-1 through to SCP-XXXX-5, with SCP-XXXX-3 acting as the handle of SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-5 are connected by twelve metal strings, designated as SCP-XXXX-6. SCP-XXXX consists of various metals, with unoxidized iron1 being the most common constituent.

SCP-XXXX-6 is not naturally resonant by stringed instrument standards, however any vibrations created while SCP-XXXX is being played are anomalously magnified and transferred to the inside of SCP-XXXX-3, after which they reverberate throughout SCP-XXXX, creating a musical sound which has been described as ethereal and harmonic by observers. The frequencies of individual strings can be significantly modified by a subject softly touching a certain point along them, which will cause the affected string to be anomalously "anchored" at that point, similar to holding down strings on a guitar.

SCP-XXXX-6 also possesses the ability to transfer vibrations in between its twelve strings based on several logical inquiries2, with the frequency of a string acting as a numerical value, thus allowing SCP-XXXX to function as what is effectively a scientific calculator.

SCP-XXXX-1 through SCP-XXXX-5 are covered in various inscriptions, written in what appears to be an extinct and/or previously unknown dialect of Evenki3. SCP-XXXX possesses the anomalous ability to record anything spoken by a subject while playing it, with Evenki transcriptions of these recordings periodically replacing previous writings on the body of SCP-XXXX.

Upon receiving significant damage, SCP-XXXX will become significantly magnetic in what appears to be an attempt to manipulate nearby metallic items in order to replace damaged portions of SCP-XXXX, although results are often crude and/or impractical without outside intervention. SCP-XXXX-1 through SCP-XXXX-5 may also be detached from each other with little effort, and will attempt to reattach once given adequate space, allowing SCP-XXXX to be kept in a compact, deconstructed form for transportation.
