Item: SCP-x
Object Class: Euclid-Keter
Special Containment Procedures: The outdated Special Containment Procedures included below have been reviewed and deemed inadequate to properly counter SCP-x's behavior, however will remain in application due to the lack of an alternative. Reworked procedures are currently in development, and personnel assigned to the containment of SCP-x have been placed under Threat Level Orange until reworked procedures are implemented.
SCP-x is to be restrained and confined to a purpose built SDC (Sensory Deprivation Chamber),1 the dimensions and specifications of which are to be determined by a quantum-grade random number generator. The SDC is to be subjected to a constant electromagnetic field capable of wiping most conventional digital storage devices. The containment device is to be constantly monitored. On-site security personnel are to be provided with non-lethal directed-energy weaponry powerful enough to overwhelm SCP-x's sensory functions.
Description: SCP-x is a dark-colored, somewhat humanoid entity consisting of various organic and inorganic components ranging from advanced display screens to fully-formed thoracic organs. The most notable of SCP-x's properties is its ability to rearrange, restructure and directly modify these components, allowing it to change its anatomy and dimensions. SCP-x possesses considerable motor functions,. SCP-x is capable of terminating subjects, with common methods being impaling-induced blood loss, constriction and restraining the subject until expiration due to lack of hydration and/or sustenance.
When exposed to any stimuli originating from a human or human-made object, SCP-x will begin to modify its anatomy, appearance and behavior to better match that of the perceived object. It is theorized that SCP-x would be superficially indistinguishable from baseline humans following approximately 72 hours of uninterrupted exposure. SCP-x has also shown itself to be extremely capable in this regard, with even the most tangential stimulus often being reinterpreted as mimicable information on its subjects.
SCP-x is considered intelligent, however it is currently unclear whether it is non-sapient or simply lacking compassion for humans. SCP-x is also capable of communication, both phonetically and electronically, however more in depth analysis has led the Foundation to believe that these attempts at communication stem from the intent to further imitate human behavior rather than a genuine wish to exchange information. General SCP-x behavior is directly connected to the advancement of the anomaly's imitation, as it is very passive in its baseline form, but is unpredictable and almost unapproachable in later stages of mimicry, during which it has been known to lash out and harm those surrounding it.
Despite these complications, SCP-x's abilities are not infallible, as particularly random and overwhelming stimuli can cause the anomaly to cease movement in an attempt to completely process the inputs, while withholding stimuli completely causes the entity to begin to "forget" information and subsequently revert to its baseline form.
Addendum: Notable SCP-x imitations
Cause of exposure: ████████████████████████████████████████████████████
Description of stimulus: Abandoned neighborhood of ████████, Ireland
Approximate time of exposure: 18 (eighteen) hours
Results: SCP-x became covered in a soft, dry, fabric-like material, which it attempted to use to cover its face when approached. Arms began to take on the properties of oxidized iron while feet began to produce streaks of paint on the pavement reminiscent of spray-painted graffiti.
Cause of exposure: Alarm malfunction, combined with personnel falling asleep during guard duty
Description of stimulus: External section of containment mechanism, ███████ ███████ (sleeping), otherwise empty containment chamber
Approximate time of exposure: 2 (two) hours
Results: SCP-x's exterior became hard, smooth and segmented. Entity stood in southern corner for the duration of the exposure before striding forward and attempting to vivisect ███████, at which point security was summoned.
Cause of exposure: Requested by Dr. S██████████,
Description of stimulus: Interrogation chamber, glass separator, Dr. S██████████ (seated)
Approximate time of exposure: 30 (Thirty) minutes
Results: Surface of SCP-x took on a bleach-white tone, attempts at communication by Dr. S██████████ resulted in SCP-x responding with nonsensical imitations of his speech. Entity pressed itself against the back of the chamber, at which point Dr. S██████████ began shouting in a fit of rage before suffering a depressive episode. Experiment aborted. Dr. S██████████ given temporary leave.
Cause of exposure: Sitewide containment breach resulted in abandonment of SCP-x [might scrap this one]
Description of stimulus: Depopulated humanoid wing of Site-██, unknown other anomalies.
Approximate time of exposure: 5 (five) hours
Results: Arms and "face" of SCP-x became covered with smooth, curved plasma screens displaying intermittent flashes of dark green. When interpreted as binary displays translated to random collections of phonetic symbols and numbers.
