Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained and tested at [DATA EXPUNGED] with no less than four (4) armed personnel with Level 3 clearance, two (2) of which should be positioned on the ground floor of [DATA EXPUNGED] building with the other two (2) on the tenth (10) floor. Anyone who approaches SCP-XXXX should be promptly turned away and ordered to leave the premises, use lethal force only when necessary.
Description: SCP-XXXX appears to be a one (1) year old traction elevator made by [DATA EXPUNGED]. The elevator resides in a half-completed building located at [DATA EXPUNGED]. The building has exactly 10 floors each being 10 feet in height. Upon closer inspection, SCP-XXXX seems to have no discernable differences in manufacturing when compared to other [DATA EXPUNGED] elevators. However, when a user starts on the tenth floor and presses the first-floor button SCP-XXXX will travel directly to the first floor even when other buttons are pressed mid-journey. During the elevator ride, SCP-XXXX alters the time inside the elevator to extend exactly 100 years. Those outside of the machine when traveling between the tenth and the first floor will experience no difference in the passage of time (note that the time it takes for the elevator to reach the first floor from the tenth is approximately 19.5 seconds).
Roughly halfway down (50 years into) the elevator shaft, the subject will have the overwhelming urge to ask a question out loud to the elevator and will instantaneously know the answer to the question asked. Note that all answers given to the subjects have been/appear to be correct.
All subjects who have traveled between the tenth floor and the first have promptly deceased of natural causes and have begun decomposing once the elevator doors open.
Addendum: SCP-XXXX was brought to the Foundations knowledge on 05/██/2012 after a construction worker at [DATA EXPUNGED] tried to use the elevator and discovered a deceased, decomposing white male and immediately called the police. An autopsy report showed that the cause of death was dehydration and revealed that the individual found was [DATA EXPUNGED], one of the workers who installed the elevator. It also revealed that [DATA EXPUNGED] had been decomposing for about 100 years.
Upon discovery on SCP-XXXX’s time-bending qualities due to incident report XXXX-02 all engineers who worked on SCP-XXXX where questioned. When questioned every one of them reported nothing unusual and a polygraph test confirmed their answers, they were given amnestics and allowed to leave.
Experiment XXXX-e-01
Name: Dr. West with Dr. Volkman and Dr. Vosters
Date: 05/██/2012
Procedure: One video recorder is to be placed inside SCP-XXXX in the top right-hand corner facing the elevator doors and two cameras are to be placed on the outside, one X-ray camera, one thermal camera. Both the X-ray camera and thermal camera will be positioned on top of the elevator as it moves down so observation of the interior can be made posable from the outside.
Results: As the first-floor button was pressed by a remote-controlled robot, the interior of SCP-XXXX disappeared from both the X-ray camera and thermal camera, all footage captured from as soon as the elevators doors closed to there re-opening upon arrival at ground floor showed that SCP-XXXX’s interior had disappeared completely. As for the camera inside SCP-XXXX, all that was retrieved was a 20-minute video before the camera turned off (possibly due to the battery on the camera dying) with absolutely no difference throughout the entirety of the ride.
Notes: after reviewing the footage gained from the two outer cameras it appeared that SCP-XXXX’s inside has vanished, possibly teleporting into another dimension or becoming lost in time. As for the interior camera, it was an oversight on our behave to not take into account how much battery is going to be needed.
Experiment XXXX-e-02
Name: Dr. West with Dr. Volkman and Dr. Vosters
Date: 05/██/2012
Procedure: D-class subject is to be placed inside SCP-XXXX along with a lifetime supply of non-perishable food, water, water purifier, 90 pencils, pencil sharpener, three notebooks consisting of 300 pages each, a Camera, rechargeable batteries, a solar-powered charger (to be used with the overhead light), and a Gameboy (at the request of D-class).
Results: Subject D-74275 (Male, 36, 5 homicides and 3 attempted murders, no discernible mental abnormalities) Is informed of SCP-XXXX and its time-bending properties. D-class is hesitant at first to go into SCP-XXXX but is reminded if he does not comply it would result in termination. As D-class enters the elevator he remarks “see ya later” as the elevator doors close. Elevator travel time: 19.83 seconds. As the doors open D-class is laying deceased in the corner of SCP-XXXX. Autopsy reports show he died of a heart attack and was approximately 87 years old at the time of death. Going through the journals and camera logs D-class wrote a lot about how he truly felt bad for his victims and wrote apology letters to his victim's families. See XXXX-J-1 for the full journal entry. The most notable thing found in the journals is toward the end where Subject D-74275 wrote about how he felt like he had to “stand up and ask a question out loud. So I asked if my victim's families could ever forgive me, almost instantly I knew how every one of them would answer”. The subject soon after fell into depression and stopped writing.
Notes: subject appears to have died of natural causes. We are curious on why he felt the need to ask the elevator a question. Further testing may be required.
Experiment XXXX-e-02
Name: Dr. West with Dr. Volkman and Dr. Vosters
Date: 06/██/2012
Procedure: D-class subject is to be placed inside SCP-XXXX along with a lifetime supply of non-perishable food, water, water purifier, 90 pencils, pencil sharpener, three notebooks consisting of 300 pages each, a Camera, rechargeable batteries, a solar-powered charger, a solar-powered clock and 5 playboys (at request of D-class). D-class is informed of SCP-XXXX’s properties and is informed of Subject D-74275’s need to ask a question. Dr. West informs the D-class that if he feels like asking a question out loud ask a question you could never possibly know the answer to.
Results: Subject D-74289 (Male, 25, Arson Rape Murder, no discernible mental abnormalities) enters SCP-XXXX with no resistance. Elevator travel time: 19.79 seconds. As the elevator doors open, D-class found deceased and is sitting upright in the back corner of SCP-XXXX. Autopsy shows Subject D-74289 died from a blood clot in his heart at age 79. Upon looking at D-class’s journal entries there is nothing unusual until 50 years in according to the time stamp he put at the top of the page. According to his journal entree, he was faced with an overwhelming urge to ask the elevator a question. Remembering what Dr. West told him decades earlier he asked “how do you science?” the journal entries after this event are all about applied physics, molecular structure, theoretical designs for [DATA EXPUNGED]. See XXXX-J-2 for the full journal entry.
Notes: Subject D-74289 appears to have gained knowledge of everything science related despite having virtually no prior knowledge of anything in the fields he wrote about after. To be honest, I am quite jealous, his prototype designs for a [DATA EXPUNGED] is beyond anything I have ever seen before. SCP-XXXX appears to hand out knowledge for any question asked. We have to test the boundaries of SCP-XXXX’s knowledge.
Experiment XXXX-e-03
Name: Dr. West with Dr. Volkman and Dr. Vosters
Date: 06/██/2012
Procedure: D-class subject is to be placed inside SCP-XXXX along with a lifetime supply of non-perishable food, water, water purifier, 90 pencils, pencil sharpener, three notebooks consisting of 300 pages each, a Camera, rechargeable batteries, a solar-powered charger, a solar-powered clock, and an iPod (at request of D-class) D-class is informed of SCP-XXXX’s abilities and told to ask what happens after death. D-class refuses to go in. D-class is informed that if she does not obey it will result in termination. D-class still refuses to get into SCP-XXXX. D-class is forced in and one of the armed personnel presses the first-floor button.
Results: [DATA REDACTED]
Experiment XXXX-e-04
Name: Dr. Williams with Dr. Swift and Dr. Jackson
Date: 08/██/2012
Procedure: D-class subject is to be placed inside SCP-XXXX along with a lifetime supply of non-perishable food, water, water purifier, 90 pencils, pencil sharpener, three notebooks consisting of 300 pages each, a Camera, rechargeable batteries, a solar-powered charger, a solar-powered clock, and art supplies (at request of D-class). D-class is told of SCP-XXXX’s capabilities and is informed to ask SCP-XXXX what it is.
Results: Subject D-74356 (Male, 23, no discernible mental abnormalities) is found in SCP-XXXX with his head in a pile of dried up blood. The autopsy report shows that Subject D-74356 died of blunt force trauma to the head at age 73. When going through D-class’s journals, it is found that Subject D-74356 actually enjoyed his time in SCP-XXXX. See XXXX-J-04 for full journal. Upon inspection, it appears there is only one video found on the camera. The video shows an older Subject D-74356 ask SCP-XXXX “what are you” at which point Subject D-74356’s face goes blank and Subject D-74356 starts banging his head against the elevator walls until Subject D-74356 falls over and is presumably dead.
Notes: D-74356’s reaction to SCP-XXXX’s answer leads us to believe that we are to not question SCP-XXXX. No matter we still have plenty of questions to ask and answers we shall receive.
