Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid //(yet to be fully determined)
Special Containment Procedures: The current iteration of SCP-XXXX-A is to be stored in a humanoid containment chamber in Level 30, Section D of Site-88. SCP-XXXX-A's habitat will include minimal equipment necessary to perform a "live broadcast" once a day at ████ hours, which will be shown to a pool of D-Class subjects known to have been extremely isolated in terms of communication and relationships with others before their employment with the Foundation. The number of D-Class participating in the viewing session shall increase by one member on a daily basis, prior to the latest broadcast.
In the event of a containment breach, containment personnel equipped with SCRAMBLE Visor equipped headgear are to detain the SCP-XXXX-A with non-lethal and non-harmful methods. In the events of the death of SCP-XXXX-A, or a "transfer event", Department of Analytics will begin searching for any patterns showing at least a 76% degree of certainty. Refer to Document XXXX-8 for more information regarding post-breach/post-departure procedures. Department of Analytics teams and MTF Mu-18("Biggest Fans") are to remain on alert for the dissemination of materials propagating SCP-XXXX's effect, as well the appearance of groups of interest related to SCP-XXXX.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a phenomenon that can potentially affect ██% of the human population (subscript regarding effects on non-humans). While the candidate pool of SCP-XXXX is fairly wide1, the phenomenon itself can only affect one individual at a time (hereby referred to as SCP-XXXX-A). A new iteration of SCP-XXXX-A can begin with no regard to distance between prior and new iterations. [While the phenomenon manifesting itself may appear random, it is theorized to follow a trend of occuring in individuals who maintain or are developing an increasing level of public visibility2. The creation of a new instance of SCP-XXXX-A occurs following the death of a current instance, or when the current instance's level of popularity stagnates or declines. The actual range of time between a neutralization of a current XXXX-A instance and the manifestation are thought to be between 2 and ██ years.
The anomalous effects of SCP-XXXX are triggered when viewing the face of the current iteration3. This effect can be triggered through direct visual exposure or any form of visual media4, although live video broadcasts and direct exposure have had larger degrees of success. While it may be transmitted with traditional and printed means of depiction, the degrees of imperfection found in any artist's talent or a machine's output may either lower the rate of effectiveness or completely nullify the effect. It is should be noted that depictions of am SCP-XXXX-A instance created prior activation of the phenomenon do not trigger the effect.
SCP-XXXX-A's cognitohazardous effect can only be triggered once every twenty four hours per individual. Individuals who trigger the effect (hereby refered to as SCP-XXXX-C) increment their level of interest with the instance of SCP-XXXX-A that they observed. This begins as slightly improved awareness of their SCP-XXXX-A instance, eventually developing into an obsession. The center of an SCP-XXXX-C's interest in their SCP-XXXX-A instance is specifically their facial appearance, however the SCP-XXXX-C instance will display appreciation of other aspects as the information becomes available5.
Depending on the level of obsession found in any one SCP-XXXX-C instance, any romantic relationships with other individuals prior to initial infection will be retroactively severed. The highest degree of infection is characterized by the complete ceassation/erasure of all romantic relationships from birth to the point of infection. This has at many points in the past led to shifts in reality of varying severity, which were largely unnoticed until [REDACTED]6.
Additionally, an SCP-XXXX-C instance's past self increasingly develop knowledge regarding the appearance of their SCP-XXXX-A instance as they approach the peak threshold of infection. This has previously led to the development of cults or groups that worship a prophecized individual matching the images in their minds.
Infection has been noted to not occur in all potential subjects. While not all qualifiers for immunity have been determined, several have been confirmed and are listed below.
- Individuals related to the given SCP-XXXX-A instance by blood.
- Those who are or have been in a reciprocated romantic relationship with a given SCP-XXXX-A instance.
*Those with any form of significant visual impairment such as blindless and color blindless.
Upon the cessation of SCP-XXXX in a given SCP-XXXX-A, the infectious nature found in recreations of their image stop, as do any obsessive thoughts in their SCP-XXXX-C instances. SCP-XXXX-C instances instead experience a brief period of depression (anywhere from a day at best to several weeks at its worst) before "moving on", as quoted in Interview XXXX-C103. Current findings indicate that that this period is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to the amount of -C instances for the given -A instance.
Chronological restructuring as a result of SCP-XXXX is not repaired upon the cessation of effects in an -A instance.
Due to the rate of change in current -C populations, current methods of detection of new -A instances are ineffective in assisting early intervention. As such, Department of Analytics teams and software should follow
Addendum: [Optional additional paragraphs]
XXXX was originally noticed as early as 1946, although misidentified as several seperate cults, each regarding their own central person of worship who was yet to manifest in our reality (or rather, be born). Only
LEVEL 4-XXXX/O5 ACCESS REQUIRED
SCP-XXXX-E is what has been determined to be a incorporeal entity of unknown age, origin, or composition. It has been found to be sentient, but can only detect "attention". It is theorized that it is sustained through acknowledgement and worship, hence the anomalous effect it has on viewers of its host as well as its ability to depart when deprived of active worshipers. It has also been determined that, while able to detect worship without regard to direct perception or distance, it lacks the ability to percieve sight or sound. This in itself has provided for current containment procedures to remain effective. While it is unable to communicate in a verbal manner, it is known to influence the thoughts of it's host in a manner that can be best compared to grooming.

As media technology develops, the effects of SCP-XXXX will be amplified severely. Even now, social media presents the means to spread images and ideas almost without limit across the world. The internet alone was bad enough for this project, but social media has only catapulted the dangers of this phenomenon in the present. What is worse is not that media technology may improve in significant and unforseeable ways in the future, but that we will leave this present in the past, ripe for explotation by SCP-XXXX's chronological effects. Should -E learn of our deception, or signs of -D type infection manifest, we must be ready to [do something really terrible for human progress, like nuking social media/communications technology]. Such actions may set us back significantly as a civilization, but there is currently no effective alternative within the arsenel of allied normalty preservation organizations.
[to be refined, as is everything else here]
- effectiveness of amnestics?
- effectiveness of thaumatology? What kind of resource demand or backlash would occur from a working to fix a "modern"/social media society infection?
-Possibly section out everything into collapsables.
Notes:
Alpha is the Host
Beta is anyone that can be infected by the effect
Charlie is the directly infected individual
Delta is the indirectly (via time shenanigans) infected individual.
Echo is the entity itself.
!!! The effect doesnt effect everyone, especiallyn not blood relatives.

Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: As SCP-XXXX is currently uncontainable at this time, MTF (Grenk symbol)-(number) "The Forecasters" are to perform procedure APOLLO'S CLOAK between the months of March and June, inclusive, with operation range shifting in accordance to changes in activity of SCP-XXXX. (whichever MTF handles public disinformation) will accordingly adjust news reports regarding SCP-XXXX activity.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a meteorological phenomenon that occurs sporadically worldwide, but more consistenly manifests in areas designated "Tornado Alley" and "Dixie Alley" in accordance with current revisions of APOLLO'S CLOAK. When SCP-XXXX manifests, it takes the form of a twisting, bending funnel of wind that connects the ground and the cloud from which it appears. SCP-XXXX displaces any physical objects it comes in contact with, although it has been seen to pick up objects which are held in or around its body until such a time where they are either launched or disappear. SCP-XXXX is invisible until debris and dirt from its contact with the ground is dispersed within and around it.
Investigations into materials that disappear during contact with SCP-XXXX have been fruitless thusfar. Any object that reaches the point where SCP-XXXX and its host cloud join before being launched disappear into the cloud, but do not reappear.
Conventional means of interacting with or influencing SCP-XXXX are ineffective, and will be until such a time where a weapon, esoteric or otherwise, is developed(See APOLLO'S CLOAK).
Addendum:
OPERATION APOLLO'S CLOAK
Forces involved: "The Forecasters"
"The Forecasters" have been created with the express purpose of creating a weapon or device capable of interacting with SCP-XXXX an information veil with which to disguise SCP-XXXX as normal meteorological behavior. In conjunction with other task forces, will influence the field of meteorology to account for phenomena like SCP-XXXX under a proposed name, and create false historical entries documenting the newly created phenomena to be injected into historical records worldwide.
In addition to creating disinformation surrounding SCP-XXXX, APOLLO'S CLOAK is to utilize SCP-XXXX-A to prematurely end SCP-XXXX events as of the latest revision of APOLLO'S CLOAK, use of SCP-XXXX-A in an offensive capacity is forbidden.
SCP-XXXX-A is a device comprised of with thaumaturgic components and other anomalous technologies. SCP-XXXX-A creates a phenomenon similar to SCP-XXXX (hereby refered to as SCP-XXXX-B), which can successfully interact with SCP-XXXX. Events where SCP-XXXX-A has been utilize to counter an SCP-XXXX event have lead to an significant increase in yearly manifestations with each intervention. As such, the use of SCP-XXXX-A against SCP-XXXX is forbidden by order of the O5 Council.
In accordance with the latest iteration of APOLLO'S CLOAK, a new approach to containing SCP-XXXX has been devised. Alongside its increasing manifestations, the use of the most modern version of SCP-XXXX-A is to be utilized to create multiple instances of SCP-XXXX-B to provide an information shroud with which to conceal SCP-XXXX.
