SCP-316

BRIEF DESCRIPTION: SCP-316 is a bronze, aged carbide lamp. The casing corresponds to no manufactured models and appears to be homemade. When switched on, SCP-316's bulb emits a nearly opaque beam of white light. Non-reflective objects and materials in contact with this light have their molecular structure rearranged into patterns which homogenize reflected photons, distributing their wavelengths equally throughout the visual spectrum. Effectively, over approximately 6 cumulative seconds of exposure, affected surfaces lose all color, retaining shades of gray of the same luminosity as the original surface. In addition to the loss of color, most affected organisms experience the following:

  • Color-blindness
  • Lower body temperature
  • Low energy
  • Slowed movements
  • Monotonic, slurred speech
  • Inattentiveness
  • Short-term memory loss
  • Apathy
  • Lack of aggression
  • Negligible emotional response
  • Passive cooperation with instructions
  • Relative lack of desire to lie or deceive
  • Limited capacity for foresight or creative thought

PERMISSION: None needed.

QUESTION: SCP-316 is capable of affecting a variety of bodily functions, cognitive abilities, and sight. Will subjects exposed to SCP-316's light be able to pass psychological evaluations and basic motor functions like running, jumping, vision tests, x-rays, and blood tests/MRI screenings?

HYPOTHESIS: I believe subjects will ultimately fail all evaluations given to them by medical staff. Considering SCP-316 is able to do this much damage to one person, it's certainly possible for someone to fail all tests and end up injured or even handicapped after being flashed with the lamp.

THE PROCESS: Myself, 2 Security Guards, and 4 Class-D Subjects were led to SCP-316's chamber inside the medium containment zone. Beforehand, a guard was instructed to head to the canteen on the 1st floor and to dispense 4 different drinks from SCP-294. The drinks requested were "Listerine" brand mouthwash, a homemade kale smoothie by Dr. █████, "Sunny D" brand orange juice, and "Fruit Juicy Red" brand Hawaiian Punch. A handheld timer and a thermometer were also brought to the procedure, upon request of myself. Once all foundation staff was inside, all Class-D subjects were briefed once more on the situation, regarding directions and what to do in case of an emergency. Once briefed, all Class-D (From now on, being referred to as CD-1, CD-2, CD-2, and CD-4.) subjects were instructed to enter SCP-316's containment chamber and to wait until further directions. CD-1
