Item #: SCP-4###

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: A fifteen-kilometer radius has been established around SCP-4### and made off-limits to all visitors, under the guise of a protected area containing a fragile ecosystem. [Also some more]

Description: SCP-4### is a 96,342 seat stadium located on Weddell Island in the Falkland Islands. The architecture of the stadium is idiosyncratic and seems to replicate soccer stadiums all over the world, with a slight majority of recorded elements from Falkland Islander, Argentine, Chilean, and Uruguayan stadiums.1

At random intervals spanning from two to six weeks, an SCP-4### event will occur. During one of these events, two association football teams of any skill level beyond amateur from anywhere in the world will be selected at random, and identical versions of their players (hereafter designated SCP-4###-1 instances) will be instantaneously transported to SCP-4###. From here, SCP-4###-A instances will encourage, then force, the players to participate in a standard 90-minute association football game. Following the end of the game, SCP-4###-1 instances cease to exist.

In the weeks following the SCP-4### event, the players from the participating teams will report vivid dreams involving the event, which in 30% of affected individuals will eventually be interpreted as distinct memories. The player’s mental state slowly deteriorates as time goes on, with already-existing psychological problems intensifying and new problems emerging.2 With Foundation intervention, affected players will be forced to retire early 25% of the time, and without Foundation intervention, invariably.

During events, SCP-4### is populated by a variety of entities, all (excepting SCP-4###-D) believed to be intended to fill the places of various game and stadium officials.

SCP-4###-A:3 Three to four identical humanoid entities. No defining features beyond neon-green skin covering entire body. Believe to represent referees; primarily serve to force players to play and break up any fights. One SCP-4###-A instance occasionally goes against the will of one or all of the other instances, indicating a facsimile of a head referee/assistant referee relationship.

SCP-4###-B:4 Two identical humanoid entities. No defining features beyond patchwork black-and-white skin, and a black cylindrical object of varying size in each hand. Entities stand motionless in a booth above the stands, but large amounts of energy are released from their objects throughout the game in all directions; some energy appears to originate from SCP-4###-D instances, but most is self-created. The energy is believed to carry information, but its nature is unknown, and is theorized to operate on a higher level than baseline information. Recipients of information are unknown.

SCP-4###-C:5 Entities of varying appearances, usually tangentially humanoid, and universally white. Serve to clean all parts of the stadium, performing their duties daily regardless of the cleanliness of the stadium. 84 have been described as of last revision, and at least 300 are theorized to exist.

SCP-4###-A:6 Several dozen entities; six on the ground have humanoid bodies below the head, but the majority are vaguely arachnoid. Spend majority of time hidden within stadium; during games, humanoid entities stand motionless on sidelines, and arachnoid entities slowly crawl across stands in a precise fashion. All SCP-4###-D entities spend game transmitting massive amounts of information in all directions, a fraction of which is comprehensible by humans7. Besides information for SCP-4###-B instances, recipients are unknown.

Addendum: Timeline or events

Mid 1980s: SCP-4### manifests. At this point, only local amateur teams and school teams likely appear.

1999: Radius of appearing teams expands to Patagonia. █████████ Banderas, a center-back for an amateur team in Río Gallegos, makes the first public comment on his memories of SCP-4###. Foundation web-crawlers, at this point still rudimentary, do not flag the comment.

2001-09-23: ████ Solís, a center-forward for Boca Juniors, is the first professional player to comment in person of their experience in SCP-4###. The sport section of Clarín, Argentina’s largest newspaper, runs a short, mocking editorial on his story. Foundation operatives are dispatched to Buenos Aires, then to the Falkland Islands, to investigate.

2001-10-04: Containment Site 4### is established on Weddell Island, and partial acquisition of the island from the Ferguson family, its owners, is negotiated.

2003-02-14: Original containment procedures established.

[some more weird shit]

2014-09-13: Alongside a Japanese semi-professional team, St. Kilda Football Club, a professional Australian rules football team, manifests. The team members are forced into playing association football, and beat the Japanese side 3-2. Due to the previous unusual events, site officials are unconcerned.

[a little bit more weird shit]

2017-03-21: The San Diego State Aztecs and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, both gridiron football teams, manifest in SCP-4###, and the standard featureless association football has been replaced with a standard featureless Australian rules football. The teams are forced into playing a standard American football game, in which San Diego State wins 29-17.

2017-04-23: Containment procedures revised.
