Pictured event: The declaration of war on Germany by the United Kingdom. Date: 1939
[BEGIN LOG]
Exploration Unit 01 steps out of an SCP-XXXX-2 instance and emerges in a mid-sized room. A man later identified as British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain is sitting in a chair
Burton: We're through command. Do you read?
Command: We hear you.
Young: It's a real good thing radio signals can travel through SCP-XXXX-2 instances.
Burton: That it is. Now let's get to work. Now where exactly did we end up
Young: From what I can gather it appears we're in the cabinet room at 10 downing street. But it appears to look… older?
Command: Can you pinpoint exactly what time period it looks like?
Young: Yes. I'd say approximately the 1930s.
Burton: And that fellow over there by the radio must be Neville Chamberlain. I recognize him from my history classes.
Young: Yes this must be 10 downing street's cabinet room.
Burton: And that means we're about to witness in person the British declaration of war on Germany. It's strange how he can't hear us though
Young: That's just how it is with this anomaly. As alive as they appear the people inside just don't notice us no matter what we do. We can't change history sadly. All we can do is observe.
The two look over at Prime Minister Chamberlaine and notice he has already begun his speech
Burton: I think we already missed a bit. Better quiet down.
Neville Chamberlain: This morning the British ambassador in Berlin handed the German Government a final note stating that unless we heard from them by 11 o'clock that they were prepared at once to withdraw their troops from Poland, a state of war would exist between us. I have to tell you now that no such undertaking has been received, and that consequently, this country is at war with Germany.
Burton: And that's that.
Young: It's time to go. This place will likely reset soon.
Exploration Unit 01 steps back through the SCP-XXXX-2 instance and emerges in SCP-XXXX-1

Pictured event: Meeting between unknown parties. Date: Unknown
[BEGIN LOG]
Exploration Unit 05 steps into the SCP-XXXX-3 instance.
Cain: All right. Standard temporal exploration. Get in, record the data and then get out. What do you think it'll be?
Bell: Probably an ancient war or geological event. Maybe we'll get to soon the dinosaurs get wiped out or something
Unknown: [Unintelligible]
Bell: What the hell? Who is that? Where are we?
Cain: Doesn't look like any historical location I've ever heard of. The place looks rather futuristic if you ask me. Look at all those people over there.
A large grouping of humans stands inside a small assembly chamber. They appear to be arguing.
Bell: They're mad. But at what? Each other?
Cain: Most likely. Do you have any idea what they're saying? I know a few languages but this one doesn't ring a bell.
Bell: No idea here. I'm not sure if it's even one language. Do you see those banners? Looks like some kind of multinational conference of sorts.
Unknown 2: [Unintelligible screaming]
The second unknown human begins to shout and point at all the other humans in the room before storming out of the building.
Cain: What do you think he said? It left everyone in the room pretty shaken up.
Bell: I can't be sure. We should see if we can get some written language samples. Might help us out. This appears to be a multinational assembly. There have to be some papers or treaties laying around.
Exploration agent Bell scans the room before noticing a large sheet of paper
Bell: Well all right. Here we go. Looks like a treaty of some kind. A big one. It's been torn up and damaged pretty bad but there's enough here. I'm going to grab a picture and then we should head out. We don't have long until the place resets and takes us with it.
Exploration Agent Bell uses his camera to take a picture of the damaged paper and a few other items believed to be important
Cain: The place is getting shaky. Let's go
[END LOG]
The discovery of a possible unknown civilization was an unexpected event with major implications. As far as we know SCP-XXXX only shows the past. Not the future. This event the exploration team witnessed may involve an ancient human civilization more advanced than even our own yet there is no archeological evidence of their existence. If there was an advanced ancient human civilization then something bad happened to them. Something that wiped out all traces. Exploration teams are being redirected to focus on exploring SCP-XXXX-3 instances related to the civilization. Further logs of known historical events will be stored in a separate location while the main SCP-XXXX archive will be used exclusively for SCP-XXXX-3 expeditions related to the unknown civilization hereby referred to collectively as SCP-XXXX-4. Language translation is ongoing. -Dr. ███████

Pictured event: A large-scale battle between two SCP-XXXX-4 forces. Date: Unknown
[BEGIN LOG]
Exploration Unit 03 steps into the SCP-XXXX-3 instance.
Ward: Holy shit…
Solomon: There are thousands of bodies here. This is just one battle?
Ward: This doesn't look like a small skirmish. I'll bet it's a sign of a bigger conflict. Maybe it has to do with what unit 05 saw. Now focus. We are standing in the middle of a battlefield.
Solomon: Looks static. It's safe to poke around. There are some destroyed buildings over in the distance. Maybe there will be something we can look at. See if we can find out what's going on.
Exploration Agent Solomon proceeds to a small cluster of destroyed buildings
Solomon: Shit… so many bodies. They don't look military.
Ward: There's nothing we can do. SCP-XXXX doesn't allow us to change the past.
Solomon: I know just… damn. Whatever. We were prepared for this. I'm gonna look around for some newspapers or something.
Ward points at a dimly glowing tablet on the ground.
Ward: Look. A tablet. Looks damaged but could have useful info.
Ward picks up the tablet and attempts to read.
Solomon: Still can't read it entirely but translation efforts are making progress. Let me see if I can get the gist of it.
Exploration Agent Solomon retrieves a translation guide from his bag and begins to read the text on the tablet.
Solomon: Something about… War. A breakdown in negotiations. Not good news that's for sure. Can't get any more. Take a picture though. The more samples we get the better our translations will get. Speaking of samples. We can't take anything home with us but we can get a look. This is a battlefield so they're bound to be throwing a lot of tech at each other.
Ward: It could be good to get an idea of their technological level. We'll head back and take a look along the way. Let's go.
As the two agents return to the SCP-XXXX-2 instance they observe the battlefield
Solomon: Advanced. I see some exosuits and injuries that appear as if they're inflicted by energy weapons of some kind. Hard to tell without any real reference.
Ward: Yeah. And you see that big tank up there. Looks like it has some kind of railgun or some other kind of magnetic weapon. That weaponry would use a lot of power. That thing has one hell of an engine. Maybe even nuclear. They're decades ahead of us at least.
Solomon: That's concerning. If a civilization like this was wiped out that might spell trouble for us.
Ward: We'll figure it out. We always do. Now let's grab some final pictures and head back.

SCP-XXXX-3 class: Unstable Animated
Pictured event: An intelligence briefing. Date: Unknown
[BEGIN LOG]
The Foundation Drone enters into the SCP-XXXX-3 instance.
Larson: Drone's in. Looks unstable. It's just me for this operation since I'm going in remotely. Recording for the logs. Moving in.
The drone maneuvers through a large patch of distorted space and eventually reaches a group of SCP-XXXX-4 humans
Larson: We've got a large group of people here. Some appear to be scientists and generals. There are at least a few politicians. The dimension is animated and they're speaking but it's unstable so it's hard to catch the words. Listening in.
SCP-XXXX-4 general: [Unintelligible] Fission bombs [Unintelligible] Tens of thousands
The general points to different points on a projected map. There are 4 points in the Sahara desert region.
Larson: We're seeing evidence of usage of nuclear weaponry. Fission bombs only, not thermonuclear it seems. The map of Africa appears to be satellite footage. It's a lot more green and lit up than it is now. Assuming that points on that map are nuclear detonation sites the blasts would be placed around modern-day Libya and Egypt.
The SCP-XXXX-3 instance skips ahead
Larson: We've just had a time skip. Unstable SCP-XXXX-3 instances are prone to that. Not dangerous but can make you miss useful info.
A scientist now stands in front of the green and is presenting various statistics to the group
SCP-XXXX-4 scientist: Climate instability [Unintelligible] rapid heating [Unintelligible] glaciers are melting at rec-
Local reality distorts cutting off the scientist.
Larson: These things have a way of happening at the worst time. Just give it a moment and it'll clear up.
Local reality begins to stabilize after approximately 4 minutes. A politician stands before the group.
The politician sighs
SCP-XXXX-4 politician: There is no hope.
Local reality resets
[CONNECTION LOST]
Larson: Better the drone than me. Damn unstable dimensions.

Agents Larson and Elliot step into the SCP-XXXX-4 instance
Larson: All right we're in. Feels good to be in the field again. Drone exploration is boring as all hell.
Elliot: I'll bet. Now, where the hell are we?
Larson: Take a look out the window.
Agents Larson and Elliot look through a small window near their location
Elliot: We're on the moon? I didn't know that SCP-XXXX applied to the moon
Larson: It's not that unrealistic. A civilization like this one could easily build a moon base. Now let's look around. We could have missed a lot already.
SCP-XXXX-4 politician: The data is clear. Earth is doomed. The moon won't be safe for much longer. [unintelligible] is slowly building up antimatter reserves and [unintelligible] might try throwing asteroids at us. There is no hope.
Larson: There are people. Two people. Our translation has come a long way.
SCP-XXXX-4 unknown: There is always hope. We just need to think creatively.
SCP-XXXX-4 politician: Even if there is a way out our civilization might not survive it? Are you really okay with that?
SCP-XXXX-4 unknown: It would be better than consigning the entire world to its death. Civilization can be rebuilt. If the entire planet is destroyed then it's over. For good.

Pictured event: SCP-XXXX-4 workers constructing an unknown device.
[BEGIN LOG]
Agents Young and Burton step into the SCP-XXXX-4 instance
Young: It looks like we ended up in one with SCP-XXXX-4 activity.
Burton: Great. Let's see what kind of data we can get from this one. First thing's first it looks like we're in a bunker of some sort. A fancy bunker but still a bunker.
Young: Yep. Pretty open too. Not cramped like Cold War-era bunkers. And take a look at that.
Agent Young points to a large group of SCP-XXXX-4 workers building an unknown device
Burton: What is it?
Young: A weapon? This one is static so details are limited to what we can find in the area.
Burton: All right then. It looks like they're loading a canister of something into that device. Multiple canisters. What's in them I couldn't possibly guess.
Young: I'm going to take a closer look. Most of the canisters are closed
Agent Young approaches a worker in the process of loading a canister into the device and peers through a transparent viewing point in the canister
Young: Ugh
Burton: Are you alright?
Young: Yeah it's just… nauseating. I can't tell what it is. It's like some kind of fractal. Crystalline and spiralled. It hurts to look at.
Burton: Cognitohazard?
Young: Maybe. But non-lethal. As far as I know. I'm still alive at least and my head stopped hurting once I looked away.
Burton: Whatever they're building here whether it's a weapon or something else is important. Being built in a secret underground bunker and being fed some kind of special unknown resource? No way that's just a regular weapon.
Agent Burton hands agent Young a book
Burton: Old school. Seems to be some kind of technical manual for that device over there.
Agent Young opens the book and attempts to read
Young: This thing has a lot of complex wording and technical details. I can barely read it even with our translations. All I'm seeing is some stuff about the "geometry of time". Ah hell, my head still kind of feels weird. I feel like I'm going to throw up.
Burtons: Let's get you back and checked out.
[END LOG]
Post-expedition note: Agent Young would faint shortly after leaving the SCP-XXXX-3 instance. He awakened and made a full recovery with minimal treatment although he claims he does not have any memory of what the contents of the canister looked like.

Pictured event: The politician watches the end of the world. Date: Unknown
[BEGIN LOG]
Agents Cain and Bell step into the SCP-XXXX-3 instance
Cain: think we've reached the end. Just look at it. Earth is a wasteland.
Bell: A damn shame. Obviously, we know that things ended up fine but it's scary seeing what Earth can become. Some say we've headed this way ourselves.
Cain: Yeah, I know.
Bell: I don't buy into that rhetoric myself. And I'm going to keep fighting for a better future.
Cain: That's why you joined up with the foundation?
Bell: Yeah. Enough people are working on stopping climate change or treating the sick. The world needs me here.
Cain: How noble. Hey, look. There's the familiar politician. Humanity's last fighter.
SCP-XXXX-4 politician: We've reached the end, my friend.
SCP-XXXX-4 unknown: So we have. We're not the only ones here at the end though. There are still millions of survivors out there… somewhere
SCP-XXXX-4 politician: Scrapping out a living amongst the ruins of our world. One day though they'll be gone too. That's not a life. That's a nightmare. It would be better to die or live in blissful ignorance than to live in this world knowing what could have been.
SCP-XXXX-4 unknown: Speaking of… When it happens and if we survive the erasure will we remember?
SCP-XXXX-4 politician: No. Our second chance is a true clean slate. It's the only way we could make it work. Those who are erased will feel nothing. They will be free. Those who remain will be blessed with the gift of blissful ignorance. They'll wake up in a world. With no idea who they are, why they are there or what came before. They'll be scared, and confused. But eventually, they'll settle in. And maybe one day human civilization will rise again.
A large number of large mushroom clouds rise in the distance
SCP-XXXX-4 unknown: And now our vengeful enemies attempt to take their revenge upon us. They realized they're going to fall and so they hope to take everyone with them.
SCP-XXXX-4 politician: It's time for us to begin. Our second chance begins now.
A crystalline sphere rises out of the ground near the two humans and begins to slowly increase in radius.
SCP-XXXX-4 unknown: Goodbye.
SCP-XXXX-4 politician: See you on the other side, friend.
Bell: I think we should get out of here.
Cain: Not yet. This is the ending event. Our mission is to find out what this is.
as the sphere expands the landscape within it is converted into the forest and the ruins of the city begin to disappear as they are replaced by forests and rivers. In approximately 10 minutes the sphere reaches the two humans. Unknown vanishes.
Cain: Ok now we can go.
Agents Cain and Bell jump through the SCP-XXXX-2 instance and return to SCP-XXXX-1 as the sphere quickly approaches.
Cain: So now we know. We failed as a species but thanks to hard work earned a second chance.
Bell: Better not waste it.

Bell: A new beginning instead of the end.
Cain: This area looks familiar. more forested and less apocalyptic though.
Bell: There's a familiar face.
The politician lies on the floor.
Cain: Still breathing.
The politician awakens in the forest clearing. They stand and look around. They appear confused and afraid.
Bell: I'm guessing they don't remember anything. Imagine that. Waking up not knowing who you are, where you are or anything else.
Cain: It's better than the alternative though.
Bell: Indeed.
