Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: A Foundation containment zone consisting of a 2 kilometer radius around the crater containing SCP-XXXX has been established and secured with an electrified chain link fence and disguised checkpoints along all major routes to the crater. The containment zone has been disguised as a civilian site conducting researching into planetary geology.
Due to the rift's frequently shifting size, personnel stationed to SCP-XXXX are advised not to enter the crater itself, unless they intend to enter the central pocket dimension[Replace with SCP-XXXX-1?]. Personnel intent on entering SCP-XXXX[Replace with SCP-XXXX-1?] must make their intentions known to Foundation guard personnel stationed outside the containment zone prior to their arrival, and upon entry into SCP-XXXX[Replace with SCP-XXXX-1?], check in with the Foundation outpost placed inside the central pocket dimension of SCP-XXXX.[Replace with SCP-XXXX-1?]
Manned exploration efforts are only permitted within the pocket dimensions[Replace with "instances of SCP-XXXX-3"?] confirmed to be stable. Unstable dimensions and dimensions with an unconfirmed status are only to be explored via a remote controlled drone, as the risk of a dimensional collapse is high. In the event that personnel must enter an unstable or unconfirmed status dimension, they must constantly be on alert and remain close to the dimension's entry point in the event that a rapid evacuation becomes necessary. All personnel leaving the safe zone of central pocket dimension must be able to swim for long periods of time.
Dimensions[Replace with "instances of SCP-XXXX-3" or just "SCP-XXXX-3"?] confirmed to be in a animated state must have their loops timed, and only entered at the beginning of a loop. Exploration teams within loop dimensions are to be equipped with time keeping devices counting down the amount of time they have left before the loop resets.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a spatial distortion in the State of Massachusetts. SCP-XXXX resides within a crater in ███████ state forest. SCP-XXXX serves as a gateway between Earth and SCP-XXXX-1.
SCP-XXXX-1 is an island in extradimensional space with flat geometry, surrounded by an ocean that Foundation exploration has revealed to be endless. Although there is no visible light source in SCP-XXXX-1, the entirety of the pocket dimension is uniformly lit with a brightness equivalent to that produced by the sun during the day, and has a constant temperature of 21°C. SCP-XXXX-1 shifts in size instantaneously and without warning, down to a minimum of 0.5km2, and with no known maximum. Parts of SCP-XXXX-1 have been deemed safe for long-term human habitation, and a Foundation outpost has been established on the island in order to facilitate long term exploration.
SCP-XXXX-2 are spatial distortions similar in appearance to SCP-XXXX that exist within SCP-XXXX-1. SCP-XXXX-2 vary in size from the size of an American penny to the size of a large skyscraper. Once manifested, SCP-XXXX-2 instances retain a constant size until their collapse. The quantity of SCP-XXXX-2 within SCP-XXXX-1 is directly connected to the size of SCP-XXXX-1.
SCP-XXXX-3 are pocket dimensions separate from SCP-XXXX-1, which can only be entered and exited via an instance of SCP-XXXX-2. SCP-XXXX-2 within SCP-XXXX-3 do not mirror the size of their counterpart in SCP-XXXX-1, but rather take on the size of the first object to enter through them into SCP-XXXX-3. The pocket dimensions are "snapshots"[Need a better way to describe this] of important events relating to the planet Earth. These pocket dimensions contain the local geographic area of the event, as well as any objects, people and weather phenomena in the area, regardless of whether they are directly connected to the event. Events within SCP-XXXX-3 are not limited to the human race, and apply to the entirety of Earths history, reaching back to immediately after the formation of the primordial planet Earth. Due to this even some stable instances of SCP-XXXX-3 are not safe for exploration without more equipment
SCP-XXXX-3 are known to exist in three states, static, animated, and unstable. The properties these states of SCP-XXXX-3 are as follows:
•Static: These types of SCP-XXXX-3 pocket dimensions contain a frozen reality, in which there is no movement. Temperatures within SCP-XXXX-3 remain at a constant temperature appropriate to the time of the event, but there is no active weather beyond the frozen weather of the dimension. Objects can be interacted with, but machines will not work, and objects can not be removed from SCP-XXXX-3. Static SCP-XXXX-3 typically contain a local geographic area, bordered by an endless lake. Breathing is possible in static pocket dimensions, and gravity continues to have an effect.
•Animated: Animated SCP-XXXX-3 contain an active reality, which allow movement of the objects within them. Animated dimensions are stuck in a loop and will repeat their event infinitely until the pocket dimension collapses. Humans within an animated SCP-XXXX-3 will pay no mind to the presence of external objects, and will only mindlessly interact with them in order to prevent them from obstructing the progress of their event. Humans within SCP-XXXX-3 will become increasingly aggressive, to the point of violence if an outside force repeatedly attempts to interfere with the event. If an event can no longer continue due to external interference, the dimension immediately resets. When an animated SCP-XXXX-3 pocket dimension resets, any external objects and people will be erased.
•Unstable: Unstable SCP-XXXX-3 pose a high risk to Foundation personnel within them. An unstable SCP-XXXX-3 is a static or animated SCP-XXXX-3 that is nearing the end of it's lifespan within SCP-XXXX-1. An unstable static SCP-XXXX-3 is characterized by distorted space filling in large portions of the dimension, which appear, disappear, and move unpredictably and frequently. Objects that make contact with these distorted regions of space are converted into distorted space and added to the original distortion. An unstable animated SCP-XXXX-3 is prone to random resets, as well as time skips backwards and forwards throughout the event. Distorted regions of space appear as well within an unstable animated SCP-XXXX-3.
