Item #: SCP-5486

Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5486 has no working containment procedure known at this time. SCP-5486 has been placed on low-priority surveillance, along with PoI-5486, ██████ ████ █████, currently residing in █████████, █████████. Any containment of SCP-5486 has resulted in the subsequent breach of SCP-5486, with its objective seeming to be solely to reunite with PoI-5486. Escape was originally suspected to be simply an enhanced version of the abilities of Mus musculus, but tests of containment including solid plastic, metal, concrete, and [REDACTED] have been conducted. Each test has resulted in the breach of SCP-5486 within 8 hours, followed by its eventual escape, unless intercepted. SCP-5486 poses no known danger when intercepted, or when handled in any other capacity.

Description: SCP-5486 is a blonde, male specimen of Mus musculus, by all accounts appearing to be an average specimen. However, SCP-5486 does not show normal behavior for mus musculus, frequently escaping any containment to seek the attention of PoI-5486, as opposed to hiding like other specimen of mus musculus.

SCP-5486 lives in the residence of PoI-5486, along with ██ other domesticated mice. SCP-5486 has no known effects on other mice, or other animals in general, and its anomalous effects do not seem to spread. Tests have been conducted on a wide variety of specimens, including mice, rats, ferrets, weasels, dogs, cats, horses, and D-Class personnel.

A black, female specimen within the same residence has been observed to have very similar behavior to SCP-5486. Until confirmed to have no known anomalous properties, this specimen will be known as SCP-5486-2.

Addendum: PoI-5486 seems to have no knowledge of SCP-5486's anomalous nature, and no amnestics are needed at this time. One member of PoI-5486's online friend group has, presumably in jest, said that "maybe █████ is an SCP", in reference to SCP-5486's frequent escapes. Investigation has concluded said group believes the SCP Foundation is fictional.
