Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a standard humanoid containment cell at Site-113. The ventilation system of the cell is to be equipped with filters of activated charcoal, and is to function independently from the rest of Site-113. Any furnishings or clothing provided to SCP-XXXX is to be constructed from synthetic non-organic materials. When outside of its cell, SCP-XXXX is to be escorted by at least one member of site security at all times. Should an Anastasis Event occur while SCP-XXXX is outside of containment, it is to be moved back into its cell, or the nearest adequate containment cell, immediately. Once the event has concluded, SCP-XXXXs containment cell is to be sanitized with class M-1 anti-fungal agents, and SCP-XXXX is to receive a full physical and psychological examination.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a caucasian male of European descent whose body is composed of densely compressed hyphae1, similar to those found in various fungiforms2, except for its skeletal structure. These hyphae have taken on the appearance and function of SCP-XXXXs soft tissues, including its internal organs, skin, and nervous system. These structures are supported by a mycelium root system that is ingrained into SCP-XXXXs bones.

SCP-XXXX will enter a mycelio-restorative3process when its vital signs would indicate death. The occurrence of this process has been designated as an Anastasis Event. A list of Anastasis Events can be found in Document-XXXX-A. Upon initiation of an Anastasis Event, SCP-XXXXs soft tissues will rapidly produce a large number of fungiforms that resemble those of the Coprinus Comatus4 species. Once these fungiforms have sprouted, they will rapidly mature and begin to dissolve in an auto-digestive5 process, secreting a viscous black slime.

This slime contains the spores from these generated fungiforms, and when it comes into contact with any non-living organic material, it will break-down the material generating additional fungiforms. When SCP-XXXXs soft tissues have been completely reduced to this slime, the fungiforms will cease reproduction and dissolve, leaving SCP-XXXXs skeleton exposed. The slime will then become ambulatory and engulf SCP-XXXXs skeleton. This mass will then reform into a humanoid shape and solidify, until it forms a solid shell. SCP-XXXX will emerge from the mass in a manner similar to molting, having been completely regenerated.

SCP-XXXX was first brought to the attention of the Foundation on 1/02/1992, when local assets received reports of staff from Pineville Community Hospital stating that a John Doe had been brought in for treatment, who was identical to a teenager reported missing on December, 22, 1974. SCP-XXXX was found on a remote hiking path near Pine Mountain State Park, and had been unresponsive when initially recovered. Agents Douglas and Carter were dispatched to investigate further and determine the validity of the claims by the hospital staff.

The missing persons report for Renard Orlovsky, was found to have been filed by SCP-XXXXs Grandfather, Michail Orlovsky, referred to as POI-1290 on 12/22/1974. In the report POI-1290 states that he was awoken by an unknown sound from outside of his tent, and after a few seconds realized that SCP-XXXX was no longer in the tent. He searched the area himself initially, but having been unable to find SCP-XXXX, he reported his concerns to the local sheriffs office. After a three week long search and rescue effort coordinated by the Park Rangers and Sheriff's office, the only traces of SCP-XXXX was a trail of bare foot prints leading away from the campsite that ended abruptly after approximately 5 meters.

As both agents agreed the situation warranted further investigation the following interview was performed.

The last recorded sighting of POI-1290 occurred on 12/05/1986, when local law enforcement received reports of a domestic disturbance at POI-1290s residence. Neighbors stated that POI-1290 was arguing loudly with an unknown individual, and they were concerned the incident would continue to escalate, and a local police officer was dispatched. However as the officer, approached the residence an explosion occurred from withing the house. This resulted in a fire that spread throughout the house, and took several hours to get under control. The Fire Investigator determined the ignition source was a homemade still located in the basement, but was unable to ascertain if the fire was intentional or accidental. The only items that could be recovered from the scene were the still itself and a set of 4 leather bound journals that had been stored in a steel lock-box. As no corpses were found, it was assumed that no one was home at the time of the fire, and the case remained open.

It was then decided that in an effort to guarantee SCP-XXXXs cooperation with containment, Dr. Ian Turgile was given approval to notify SCP-XXXX its current situation. SCP-XXXX responded to the the unknown status of its family more positively than expected, stating that it had assumed something had occurred since none of its family had come forward. But, refused to believe that 18 years had passed since its disappearance, until Dr. Turgile had a small television brought into the room, and turned to the local news station. SCP-XXXX then agreed to be transferred to Site-113 for further observation and was given the temporary designation of D-83149.

The Foundation confiscated the still, journals, and all related case files to SCP-XXXXs family from local law enforcement. These materials were also transferred to Site-113, where the still was re-assembled, but remains incomplete. Pictures taken at the time of recovery show 3 components that remain unaccounted for. SCP-XXXX claims the still must have been added after its disappearance. As it functions as a normal still, the purpose of the missing components remain unknown.

The journals were transferred to the onsite restoration team, and as of 02/24/1992 an entry from one of the journals has been restored. This entry, and all future restored entries have been added to Document-XXXX-B.

Following the completion of the first Anastasis Event during Incident XXXX-1, SCP-XXXX received its current designation and transferred. The detailed reports for all incidents that resulted in an Anastasis Event, can be found in attached Document-XXXX-A.
