Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a 5 m x 5 m x 5 m cell for standard humanoids. Due to the risk of affliction of the Maski Syndrome, said cell is to be centrally placed within a 35 m x 35 m x 35 m concrete room, providing 15 meters of empty space from the radius of the containment cell to each sides of the room. A hazard line is to be placed 5 meters away from each sides of the concrete room, surrounding the containment cell. No fewer than two (2) armed security personnel should be stationed outside of the concrete room at all times. It is strictly prohibited to cross the hazard line should personnel must enter the room. Any Foundation personnel assigned to SCP-XXXX must not have any known family member, spouse, and/or pet.
Description: SCP-XXXX appears to be a Caucasian male with light brown hair, measuring 1.87 meters in height. SCP-XXXX is dressed in a light grey three-piece suit, a red necktie, white gloves. and a white porcelain mask, vaguely resembling the face of a common barn owl (Tyto alba).
SCP-XXXX is capable of inflicting a psychiatric condition, akin to a heightened Capgras delusion, termed as the Maski Syndrome; where the afflicted individual (hereafter referred to as SCP-XXXX-1) will develop a strong delusion that their mother, father, friend, sibling, spouse, pet, or any other of their loved one (hereafter referred to as SCP-XXXX-2) has been substituted by an identical and presumably dangerous impostor.
Adamantly convinced that they have been replaced by an impostor, SCP-XXXX-1 will then become increasing hostile towards SCP-XXXX-2, to the point of desiring to kill SCP-XXXX-2.
SCP-XXXX-1 will only be cured of the Maski Syndrome if they have successfully killed SCP-XXXX-2, where the delusions will cease instantaneously. SCP-XXXX-1 will then retain their previous memory and mental state prior to the delusions. 100% of all known SCP-XXXX-1 instances whom have successfully killed SCP-XXXX-2, effectively curing them of the Maski Syndrome, will thereafter be immune to it.
Currently, there are no known alternative methods to reverse the effects of the Maski Syndrome, including extensive therapy, antipsychotic medications, and amnestics. It is currently not known whether or not an individual with Capgras delusion will be affected by SCP-XXXX’s psychological influence.
All recorded SCP-XXXX-1 instances are only individuals familiar with SCP-XXXX’s physical appearance (either from direct observation, a video, or a photograph), have interacted with a friend, spouse, family member, pet, or any other loved one within the past one (1) to six (6) days, and is or was once situated within a radius of approximately 10 meters from SCP-XXXX, even if they are not currently within SCP-XXXX’s vicinity. The affliction of the Maski Syndrome happens instantaneously once the aforementioned elements are all satisfied.
SCP-XXXX seems to exhibit a parental bond with all SCP-XXXX-1 instances, and would refer them as its “fledglings” or “child”, stating that it is its inborn tendency to “save” them. SCP-XXXX seems to have inherent sense of any individual who has harmed or attempted to harm all SCP-XXXX-1 instances, and will become extremely hostile towards the individual in question. Despite that, SCP-XXXX is generally very docile towards Foundation personnel.
Addendum XXXX.1: SCP-XXXX was found in the ████ Manor in Bulgaria, carrying a ██ year old male in a state of shock, purportedly an SCP-XXXX-1 instance, with blood on his hands, arms and mouth. SCP-XXXX was then detained with minimal resistance.
A deceased █ year-old-male, purportedly an SCP-XXXX-2 instance, reported to be the younger brother of SCP-XXXX-1, was found in the attic of the manor. He was discovered with fourteen (14) stab wounds in his abdomen, one (1) in his neck, deep bite marks all over his body, and a missing left eye and throat. Forensic examinations discovered that SCP-XXXX-2's eyeball was severed while he was still alive, and found samples of SCP-XXXX-1's saliva on the former's empty eye socket, left eyelids, and wounded throat cavity.
Addendum XXXX.2: After sufficiently responding to verbal stimuli and seemingly understanding English, the SCP-XXXX-1 instance extracted from the ████ Manor, Bulgaria, was taken to Foundation custody for interrogation.
Addendum XXXX.3: After learning the technicalities of the Maski Syndrome, SCP-XXXX was interviewed in its cell. Dr. ██████ is seated outside of the hazard line with two (2) armed personnel stationed behind him.
