Item #: SCP-3XXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-3XXX is to be contained in Site 64. It is to be contained in a 3 m x 3 m x 5 m room coated with 15 cm of tungsten. Two cameras, one optical and one thermal, are to be installed in the upper corner of the containment area. These are to be protected with a panel of synthetic sapphire. SCP-3XXX is to be placed on a stand 1.25 m tall made out of tungsten that is installed in the middle of the containment area. The entrance to the containment area should be protected by two sets of tungsten doors locked with electromagnets with a distance of 3 m between each set of doors. Mandatory inspection for damage to the containment area should be done weekly using a remotely controlled vehicle. If there is damage, repair must be done immediately using a remotely controlled repair vehicle. Any instances of SCP-3XXX-1 is to be terminated under any circumstances using small explosives. No personnel is allowed to enter the containment area without permission from Senior Researcher Jacob Conwell. All personnel entering the containment are must wear the standard Heat Approach Protection suit except for research purposes. No experiments involving the intentional assimilation of personnel are permitted under any cirucmstances (See Experiment 3XXX-4).
Description: SCP-3XXX is a grey, metallic liquid with a volume of 1.5 L and a mass of 23.2 kg. It is of unknown substance and does not seem to change temperature, staying at a constant 1500oC, despite surrounding temperatures. Its density doesn't correlate with any element, being 15.49 g/cm3. When resting on a surface, the object keeps a spherical shape despite being a liquid. Any sample of SCP-3XXX separated from the main object consisting of less than 50% of the total volume will evaporate gradually, with a rate of 5% per minute. The initial object will regenerate 5% of its lost mass per minute and will have fully regained its mass after 10 minutes.
When a human enters within a 2 m radius of SCP-3XXX, SCP-3XXX will launch itself towards the subject at speeds reaching up to 70 km/h. It will then cover the entirety of the subject. SCP-3XXX needs to be in direct contact with the subject to cover it. The subject will go through immense pain and will try to remove SCP-3XXX from its body. After a certain amount depending on the subject’s pain tolerance, he will collapse and remain immobile for about 15 seconds after which the subject will get back up and turn into a humanoid creature made out of the same material than SCP-3XXX(subsequently named SCP-3XXX-1).
SCP-3XXX-1 will take the dimensions and features of the subject. SCP-3XXX-1’s mass is the sum of the mass of the subject and SCP-3XXX. Its temperature increases to approximately 3000oC. The entity is extremely hostile to humans and will attempt to assimilate other humans into itself, gaining mass and strength. SCP-3XXX-1 can be destroyed if 25% of its mass is separated from the majority of the entity. If this happens, SCP-3XXX-1 will dissolve most of its mass until it goes back to SCP-3XXX’s original mass. It will revert to SCP-3XXX. Note that after reverting back to SCP-3XXX, SCP-3XXX will not attack any humans for a period ranging between 1 hour or 48 hours.
SCP-3XXX came to the attention of the Foundation after a incident in a iron refinery in █████-███████, Quebec, Canada which caused ██ confirmed casualties. All survivors were given Class A amnestics and SCP-3XXX was recovered by retrieval team Echo 6-A which suffered ███ casualty during initial recovery and ███ during transfer to Site 64.

Experiment Log 3XXX
Experiment 3XXX-1
Subject: D-1048
Summary: D-1048 was assimilated after entering within 2 m of SCP-3XXX and turned into SCP-3XXX-1. The entity attempted to breach containment and was destroyed with a small explosive charge.
Experiment 3XXX-2
Subject: D-1367 and D-1249
Summary: Both subjects entered the 2 m radius at the same time. D-1249 was assimilated first and turned into SCP-3XXX-1. SCP-3XXX-1 then attempted to assimilate D-1367. SCP-3XXX-1 was destroyed and D-1367 was recovered from the containment area. D-1367 suffered third degree burns on 87% of his body. He recovered but went into a catatonic state. D-1367 was terminated after a month.
Experiment 3XXX-3
Subject: D-4765
Summary: D-4765 wore a Heat Approach Protection suit when he entered the 2 m radius. SCP-3XXX didn't attack. D-4765 was able to handle the object and took a sample. The sample evaporated after ten minutes of being seperated from SCP-3XXX.
Experiment 3XXX-4
Subject: D-1197 and D-1002
Summary: Both subjects entered the 2 m radius at the same time. D-1002 was assimilated first and turned into SCP-3XXX-1. SCP-3XXX-1 then successfully assimilated D-1197 and grew in mass equal with the weight of D-1197. SCP-3XXX-1 breached containment and killed Agent █████ and Researcher ██████ before being recontained.
