NOTICE: THIS SCP IS HIGHLY UNRESEARCHED AND CURRENT CONTAINMENT CLASS IS PENDING AND AWAITING REVEAL. CURRENTLY SCP-XXXX'S SPECIAL CONTAINMENT PROCEDURES AND DESCRIPTION ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE ONCE SCP-XXXX IS FULLY RESEARCHED.
PLEASE NOTE, THIS DOCUMENT UPDATES REGULARLY BY RESEACHERS DUE TO NEW BREAKTHROUGHS, SUGGESTIONS, AND DETAILS. CURRENT INFORMATION TAKEN FROM THIS DOCUMENT SHOULD BE TAKEN WITH CAUTION AS IT COULD POTENTIALLY BECOME OUTDATED.
THE INFORMATION BELOW IS THE ONLY KNOWN INFORMATION ON SCP-XXXX AND ORIGINATES FROM CURRENT RESEARCH.
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained in a Class 5 Biocontainment cell in Biological Laboratory D-4 within Sector-D in Area-12. SCP-XXXX's research laboratory is guarded by 5, Level-4 Security Officers 24/7. Unauthorized entry into SCP-XXXX's research laboratory will result in prosecution and may lead to termination or detainment under certain circumstances.
Multiple safeguards have been set up in Biological Laboratory D-4, Sector-D, and for the entirety of Area-12. In the case of any instance of SCP-XXXX escaping their biocontainment will result in the immediate lockdown of Biological Laboratory D-4, if any instance of SCP-XXXX is released further into the facility such as Sector-D the same lockdown protocols are to take place for the contaminated areas. The entire facility can lockdown if SCP-XXXX instances are exposed past a designated point.
Area-12 will remain locked down until Biological Hazard Teams have rendered the facility all-clear from any SCP-XXXX instances. Any personnel who evacuated during SCP-XXXX's breach are to be taken for immediate medical diagnosis. If they are found to be infected with SCP-XXXX then they will be immediately remarked as Class-E Personnel and detained until further notice.
In emergency situations if any SCP-XXXX instance is released from the facility or certain or most SCP-XXXX instances cannot be neutralized then it will allow the usage of Area-12's on-site warhead. Detonation of the warhead in this case must be approved by Area-12's Site Director and Security Director, and in certain cases the warhead can be detonated by Level-4 Clearance personnel if prompted to do so by Area-12's Site Director or Security Director. Rescinded. Area-12 Site Director, Area-12 Security Director, O5-6.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a blood-borne and air-borne pathogen which is highly infectious and completely lethal if not diagnosed and treated immediately. SCP-XXXX should also be taken as an extremely difficult-to-understand pathogen, this makes it relatively hard to create a vaccine, cure, or effective treatment, due to this it isn't known how to treat anyone infected with SCP-XXXX no matter what strain they're infected with or what stage of infection they're in. This significantly increases the severity of SCP-XXXX.
Currently the information known on SCP-XXXX is extremely scarce and the pathogen is still in analysis. During analysis researchers confirmed that the pathogen they were dealing with was a new and abnormal pathogen exhibiting anomalous properties, confirmed with backup evidence from experimentation. Researcher's early analysis of SCP-XXXX suggests symptoms such as:
- Coughing
- Sneezing
- Vomiting
- Multiple Hematomas
- Extremely Large Wart Growth1
- Profuse and Lethal Internal Bleeding
- Lethal Tumor Growth
Research conducted on SCP-XXXX with test subjects shows that SCP-XXXX has an unorthodox way of killing it's hosts. It appears that SCP-XXXX instances within the host remains active for up to 30 days,2 due to this after it's host has either died from internal bleeding or tumor growth. Massive warts will grow exponentially until the growth ends, usually about when growth is 2 m. - 4 m. tall and 1 m. - 2 m. wide.
Finally a cluster of leaf-like green substances will grow on the pile of warts that makes the growth visually similar to a tree. After around 30-60 minutes the growth of warts change into a different substance, substance analysis proves that the substance the warts transform into is wood and bark. As of how this occurs is unknown. Investigation taken place after multiple experiments also proves that warts can extend deep into the ground forming a sort of roots system3. Further investigation into this occurrence is pending.
It is currently unknown what the leaf-like green substances originate from, but multiple instances of these leaf-like substances as well as clumps of warts have been taken for extensive research. It has also been revealed that the leaf-like substances are in fact real leaves including: Maple, Oak, Birch, Poplar, Willow, Lilac, Chestnut, etc. Though research still takes place to identify further information. Researchers have thought that the roots system could be the only reasonable cause, currently until proven otherwise the roots system appears to be the only reason behind said matter growing on the lumps of warts. It could potentially be the reason for wart growth as well, though if SCP-XXXX's roots system is proven to be dysfunctional then the initial thought and current understanding of the phenomenon of how warts and leaves grow will be setback and rethought.
Researchers have found multiple strains belonging to SCP-XXXX, if they have additional symptoms is currently unknown but it has been proven they have different infection rates and variable death times. There appears to be a total of 5 SCP-XXXX strains which are as follows:
SCP-XXXX Strain Types Table
Please Note:
SCP-XXXX is completely lethal to any human. The term "lethal" used in the following table should instead be defined as: "more likely to decease in earlier stages".
Strain Type | Advantages | Disadvantages | Side Notes |
---|---|---|---|
Alpha(α) Strain | Most understood and easiest to treat. | High Infectivity and Significantly Lethal. | Most common strain and most understood strain. |
Beta(β) Strain | Low Infectivity. | Highly Lethal and difficult to understand strain. | None |
Gamma(Γ) Strain | Significantly low infectivity | Most lethal strain. | Least common strain and most lethal strain. |
Delta(Δ) Strain | Less lethal in early stages. | Slightly higher Infectivity | None |
Epsilon(ε) Strain | None known. | No known advantages, High lethality in early stages and Highly infectious. | Least understood strain. |
It has been suggested by late-stage analysis and multiple researchers that when and how symptoms occur are actually coordinated stage by stage. Researchers have found a way of when symptoms appear, though in some cases of infection the symptoms do not appear following this pattern but currently this pattern is the most common across all strains. Currently the reason why in some occasions the symptoms do not follow this pattern is unknown.
SCP-XXXX's Stages of Infection Table
Stage of Infection | Symptom Appearance | Severity | Conclusion |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Coughing, Sneezing. Appears 20 minutes after infection. | Severe | Stage 1 is Severe due to the fact that CLMIS-16 can be easily mistaken for the seasonal flu in early stages of infection and be ignored even though CLMIS-16 is much more lethal than just the flu. It can also be significantly hard to treat CLMIS-16 after Stage 1 of infection. |
2 | Rash, Vomiting. Appears 45 minutes after infection. | Moderate/Severe | Stage 2 is severe because it is more infectious to the rash and vomiting. But it can be identified by others as CLMIS-16 more easily. Infected can be more easily diagnosed. |
3 | Severe Bruising. Appears 1 hour and 30 minutes after infection. | Moderately Severe | Stage 3 is moderately severe because it can be significantly easier to diagnose. Stage 3 does not increase Lethality or Infectivity but it becomes harder to treat due to the infection progress made by SCP-XXXX inside the host. |
4 | Profuse and Lethal Internal Bleeding, Lethal Tumor Growth. Appears 2 hours after infection. | Extremely Severe | Infected who are untreated but reach Stage 4 infection are certain to die from lethal symptoms. Researchers prove that the fatality rate of Stage 4 infection is 100.0% lethal. |
5 | Extremely Large Wart Growth. Begins 1 hour after host death. | Extremely Severe | Stage 5 if begun on soil will infect the soil it grows on. It is currently undetermined the maximum size of area around itself it contaminates but it is suspected that the maximum range is 3 m. to 4 m. away from the origin site. Untested on no soil. |

At approximately █/██/2013, 18:06. A group of MTF Beta-7 Field Agents were called-in by Beta-7 Commander, Bruce ████ requested to investigate a territory of suspicion located in a small neighborhood in Brazil, [DATA EXPUNGED] after receiving a distress call from Undercover Foundation Officer, Jonathan Puck specifically calling in reinforcements due to bizarre reports. Almost all of the neighborhood's residents were sent to the nearest hospital for an unknown reason, it appears the hospital were logging extremely adverse effects within the residents. After 2 hours and 30 minutes all residents who were transported to the hospital were confirmed clinically dead. After the medical logs caught suspicion of the Foundation the neighborhood was locked down and quarantined as well as the nearby hospital by order of the Foundation. It was enforced that no civilian enters or exit the neighborhood or hospital, any that do would be immediately prosecuted on sight. Prosecuted civilians if alive would be questioned and given Class-A Amnestics, they could also be taken under custody of the Foundation if they became of interest. After MTF Beta-7 had thoroughly swept the neighborhood and hospital the two area were to remain locked down until further notice.
