SCP-XXXX photographed upon containment.

Special Containment Procedures: No physical measures are necessary for SCP-XXXX's containment. All civilians that observe SCP-XXXX are to be administered Class B amnestics immediately and returned to their homes following standard amnestic treatment protocol.

Local meteorological stations are to be given an official warning to not observe or cover any activity within 500 meters of SCP-XXXX. Undercover field agents are to further reinforce this protocol.

SCP-XXXX-1 is to be stored in a standard object containment vault. During SCP-XXXX's "energetic" state, SCP-XXXX-1 is to be examined for changes regarding its printed messages.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a semispherical spatial anomaly with a radius of 150 meters located in Worms, Nebraska. The exterior of SCP-XXXX is comprised of a volumetrically dense fog, which has been proven impermeable via standard D-Class testing. Approximately once per month, SCP-XXXX undergoes atypical, "energetic" behavior, wherein sprites1 can be witnessed within the object. Additionally, during this period, a humanoid utterance is audible within SCP-XXXX2.

Discovery: SCP-XXXX was originally discovered on 19/1/2008 by a local meteorological station when an unnatural quantity of sprites appeared throughout SCP-XXXX. Shortly after this event was documented, a previously nonfunctioning nearby Foundation printer within Site-11, henceforth referred to as SCP-XXXX-1, began emitting red ink and parchment3. SCP-XXXX-1 was contained and remained inactive until the events of Addendum XXXX-1.

A research outpost4 was erected 100 meters East of SCP-XXXX, where SCP-XXXX-1 was kept on standby in a standard object storage locker.

Addendum XXXX-1: On 27/2/2008, during SCP-XXXX's "energetic" state, SCP-XXXX-1 emitted two sheets of parchment. Red ink had been used to print English characters onto them, however, the ink had spoiled portions of the text by a simple spill or possible overflow of ink5. They are documented below verbatim.

Long greasy swaths of veins and skin twang, resounding over the countryside. They sway like clotheslines in the fields, tainting the long dry grass that they so delicately brush against. I watch the procession of fibrous tendons web themselves over th[illegible]nge skyline; interwoven cloth. Inside, I hunch over to peer at the inky black machine that has veins sprouting from its[illegible] paper beside the device is spattered in blood, its fine print bleeds and warps over its surface.

Addendum XXXX-2: Recovered from SCP-XXXX-1 on 21/3/2008.

I miss when the messages used to be clean and crisp and weren’t soaked in gore. [illegible] I venture out into the shimmering grass, wooden door slamming in the bristling wind. Skies reflect a diseased purple and the tendrils slash across like hot wires. I see the Skein in the distant fog, fluttering with the lights of a million lanterns. He raises his head and I reach towards the violently trembling rope beside me. “There there,” I think because I know that it will never get better. A freshly damp paper lies [illegible] desk.

Addendum XXXX-3: Recovered from SCP-XXXX-1 on 30/4/2008.

Over the windowsill, through the tin cans and dead foliage and grime, I see him looking at me. I sit on the decayed chair and stretch my fingers out to the shimmering contraption.

Dear Skein,

I begin, but the gales and the Skein are screaming now. The doldrums above crackle their rage, striking the dry grass with red lightn[illegible]. The Skein raises its head to the churning sky, howling. The house rattles its protest. The window panes shiver their terror. The voice in my skull who told me everything will return to peace is squashed by the misery of a god. [illegible] The device on my desk clatters and sputters out scarlet ink-strewn papers. I hold them in my hands. Words after incoherent screams gallop ‘round my room, plastering the walls and my skin [illegible]. In the fields, I hear him screaming.

DEAR SKEIN

Following Addendum XXXX-3, a silhouetted figure was photographed, illuminated by the sprites within SCP-XXXX.
