Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: Due to the nature of SCP-XXXX, it is extremely unlikely that any knowledge of its existence can be disseminated to the general population. Deaths from SCP-XXXX outside of Foundation containment are to be ruled non-anomalous suicides and disregarded.
Class-A amnestics have succeeded in removing the disorder in approximately 1% of cases, and will be given to any Foundation personnel shown to possess SCP-XXXX. Should this fail, subjects will be designated E-class personnel and placed in standard humanoid containment cells until their expiration. There is no known effective treatment for SCP-XXXX beyond amnesticization
Description: SCP-XXXX is a psychiatric abnormality bearing superficial similarities to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) with both anomalous and non-anomalous symptoms. The primary difference between SCP-XXXX and standard post-traumatic stress disorder is that SCP-XXXX arises exclusively from traumatic events involving exposure to a harmful anomaly. Subjects affected with the disorder experience symptoms such as general anxiety, insomnia, agitation or irritability, or self-destructive behavior.
In addition to non-anomalous symptoms, subjects will hallucinate the presence of a nondescript humanoid entity, designated SCP-XXXX-1. The appearance of SCP-XXXX-1 differs between subjects but is usually described by subjects as 'intimately familiar' or as a person that the subject has or has had close relations with. SCP-XXXX-1 will verbally harass the subject, attempting to manipulate them into further self-destructive and/or suicidal tendencies. Statements made by SCP-XXXX-1 are universally perceived as fact by the subject.
