SCP-xxxx is to be contained with a sealed tank, 40 cm x 60 cm, with an inside similar to what a reptile cage would have (i.e. foliage, a heat lamp, and water bowl). SCP-xxxx has shown no behaviours indicating aggression nor the strength to remove itself from these conditions, as noted by its discoverer, xxxxxxxxxx. There is to be nothing on the floor of the tank, however, instead leaving the base uncovered. The bowl is to be filled with at location sugar water once daily.

Due to changes in SCP-xxxx, it is to upgrade tank sizes to one that is 5 m by 7m, with glass of a thickness of 3 cm. SCP-xxxx is not to be fed by any personnel.

Due to further changes, SCP-xxxx will be placed in an observation room with monitoring once every 12 hours. This room will have a mattress laid on the ground, as well as a utensil that can be used for writing, such as a chalkboard and chalk. Chalk is to be given if a need to communicate is demonstrated. If aggression is perceived by the staff, the board is to be taken away immediately.

SCP-xxxx has been deemed harmless by the senior members and those that work with SCP-xxxx, but since no information has been gathered on what SCP-xxxx is capable of, it was best deemed to classify it as euclid and revisit the categorization during the file updates.

Description:

Due to changes experienced with SCP-xxxx, the description has been decided to be periodically updated for personnel safety.

SCP-xxxx is a caucasoid finger and surrounding base of the palm. It appears as though it was amputated off, but the area of amputation was left open, with anatomy being fully visible through the cross section at the base. The nail appears to have suffered a sunungual hematoma. SCP-xxxx is able to move fully within the range of motion for this portion of the body, though it avoids unneeded movement that would cause it to touch the base of the finger to any surface.

SCP-xxxx has demonstrated pain when the open portion of its base is touched, and will actively attempt to flee away from whatever touched it. It shows preference for the typical conditions for humans, that being a temperature of about 23.0 C and moderate to mild light. It does not require food, but Mr. xxxxxxx, when handing SCP-xxxx to the foundation, stated that it did submerge the base into sugar water if given and “drinks it”.

3 years after recovery
SCP-xxxx is what appears to be a Caucasian Males right forearm, beginning from approximately 10 cm below the elbow down to the hand. It is phenotypically normal, with the exception of the index finger nail appearing bloodied, similar in appearance to a subungual hematoma, and the “open” end of SCP-xxxx below the elbow. The internals of SCP-xxxx are visible, but there is no blood loss as a result of this.

SCP-xxxx is now fully mobile, and appears to have a will of its own, though its interactions are similar to that of a household pet or small child. When approached, SCP-xxxx will pull itself over to the approacher, and wave a finger, as if making a greeting. It does recognize repeated visitors and has visible preferences against those that caused it pain, which made initial research difficult.

The consistent feeding of SCP-xxxx with sugar water is thought to have allowed it to grow to present size, with noticeable spikes in growth being seen hours after feeding.

6 years after recovery
SCP-xxxx is a phenotypically normal caucasian male right arm, with its index finger nail appearing with a subungual hematoma, and its base at approximately 6 cm above the elbow. While SCP-xxxx still possesses the same behaviours, it has noticeably grown outwards from its base, constructing a human arm as it goes. SCP-xxxx behaviour presents as more sophisticated the more it grows, though it demonstrates difficulty with mobility likely due to its inability to lift itself fully without having the base touch the surface it's on.

The rate of growth appeared to have been retarded with the ban on feeding SCP-xxxx, and no changes in behaviour were seen due to this.

Requests were made with proper superiors about testing SCP-113 on SCP-xxxx and approved. Results will be noted and recorded after the experiment concludes.

9 years after recovery
SCP-xxxx is what appears to be a male arm and supporting regions of the ribcage. It still demonstrates the same behaviours, but now shows signs of distress and pain, likely due to the open internal anatomy constantly touching some surface. Within the ribcage there are the 2-6 ribs of the right side, as well as the majority of the scapula and ligaments. What appears to be the beginning of abdominal organs have begun to sprout.

12 years after recovery
SCP-xxxx is what appears to be the upper abdomen, neck, lower head, and right arm of a caucasian male. The full right portion of the upper abdomen and arm is normal, with the appearance of a subungual hematoma on the index finger. The left upper abdomen is lacking the majority of skin and superficial muscle tissue, with the left shoulder showing a cross section of the shoulder girdle. The neck has fully developed bone, respiratory, circulatory, and nervous system growth, ending at the top of the mouth. The abdominal space is complete until the diaphragm, after which there is intermittent tissue of the viscera.

SCP-xxxx can breathe, and shows control over its larynx, but the lack of a completed mouth prevents it from being able to speak. It attempts requests for food consistently, by pointing at its mouth and making a wheezing sound. Despite it being denied food, it has shown considerable growth since the lungs and heart began developing, with rates holding at a consistent rate nearly 3x higher to its pre-lung/heart growth.

Addendum:

3 years after recovery
The 2nd and 3rd fingers of SCP-xxxx were amputated to ascertain whether the unique nail was the driver of its growth. SCP-xxxx demonstrated responses equivalent to that of being operated on without anesthetic, and resisted. SCP-xxxx bled through the amputation sites, and the amputated digits showed no signs of life. The fingers were then sutured back on incorrectly, mistakenly by SCP personnel, in the wrong places. While the fingers showed no signs of mobility, the suture site healed within the next few minutes, with no apparent sutures or scarring.

Over the span of the next week, SCP-xxxx could be seen attempting to operate its digits that were incorrectly reattached. Only when the digits modified to appear as the proper digit for the spot, including the mark on the index finger, did they begin to operate again. They have shown no signs of any issues, physical or otherwise.

6 years after recovery
SCP-113 was applied to SCP-xxxx in SCP-xxxx's containment unit. The fusing took immediately, with SCP-xxxx wriggling during stage 2 and stage 3 of the transformation process. It must be noted that stages 2 and 3 took far longer than any other testing of SCP-113, with stage four occurring 49 minutes after the initiation of stage 2. It is believed this was caused by a biological resistance to the effects. The experiment with SCP-113 was completed with SCP-xxx now presenting as a phenotypical caucasian female forearm. SCP-113 was returned to containment and SCP-xxxx was put under observation for the next week with examinations for any possible changes. Within two days, SCP-xxxx had changed back to its previous state, as if untouched by SCP-113.

12 years after recovery
SCP-xxxx was given a clipboard and paper in an attempt at communication by Dr. -xxxx, where it was discovered that SCP—— can write in a dated form of english. SCP-xxxx claims to have been born in xxxxxxxxx, at xxxxxxxx. It also claims to have been caught in an explosion accident while working for Central Pacific Railroad at xxxxxxx. This has been corroborated by Mr. xxxxxxxxxx, who claims to have found an intact “fingertip with a blackened nail” a few miles from this location.

Incident SCP- -1
Containment procedures were broken earlier today during a routine cleaning where SCP-xxxx went into a frenzy and successfully drank an entire 20 Liter mop bucket of cleaning solution that was being used. Upon finishing the bucket, SCP-xxxx experienced rapid growth for the next minute, particularly on the axial ends of the body, with the L4 vertebrae growing the L5 vertebrae as well as beginning the pelvis and the lower skull, where the bones of the mouth fully developed along with the tongue and some accessory muscles. SCP-xxxx then verbally apologized for its frenzy, claiming that it was “particularly thirsty”.

SCP-xxxx is now being assessed for any verbal capabilities, and more stringent controls will need to be assessed for routine care of SCP-xxxx’s cell. Further testing will be done to see if SCP-xxxx can control the direction of its growing and on how it accomplishes such feats.
