Because of the properties of this SCP, I believe the majority of its information can be made clear and easily understood in the SCP description section. I intend to add various experiments will provide the reader with an extra bit of back story.
Elevator Pitch:
the temple is a safe class SCP, 3m by 3m pyramid that is completely sealed off and may/may not contain an unknown entity or object.
it is gaurded by 2 cloaked humanoid entities (resembling humans in size, shape and movement, but they are incapable of talking and show no signs of sentience). they remain unanimated and inactive until someone attempts to get too close to it. At which point both will become animated and seek to kill the person unless they immediately leave the area. As soon as the person dies or leaves the area, the guards will go back to their inactive state.
the guards can be incapacitated, but any attempt to kill them results in them resurrecting back next to the temple in their stationary state, with a slightly increased resistance to the method that incapacitated them
outside the temple stands a pillar with the text 4892 years Chiselled out in Gaelic, This number counts down by one on a yearly basis, giving off the impression that pyramid will open when the timer hits 0. I would probably show the exact amount of years left on the clock as Redacted.
In the event that someone touches the pyramid, the subject will begin to hallucinate and mumble Gaelic chants that cause the countdown timer to reduce by one year for every second that they maintain physical contact.
Central Narrative:
the plan here is not to have some overpowered SCP inside the pyramid, the idea is to to leave it a complete mystery, so that there can be different interpretations of what they believe the object and what it's purpose is.
Hook/Attention-Grabber: I think it would have a strong foothold as an SCP as I see it as an entity that the foundation would want to understand, and potentially use it to their benefit.
for example the scp could be a 'prison' holding an unknown entity
or the SCP could be an empty 'safe' that the foundation could use if it was properly understood.
Additional Notes:
Just to summerise, I believe what makes this SCP interesting to the foundation and the reader are the possibilities and mystery of the SCP, embedded by the following points:
-They are yet to find out what's inside it, or what could happen when the timer hits 0
-They are able to speed up the process to open it, but it's a risk.
-If they did open it and it's empty, it could potentially be reused.
-All experiments involving a person touching the pyramid reduces the clock and increases the risk of it opening
