Item #: SCP-4720
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-4720 and SCP-4720-A are to be kept together in a secured, fireproofed room at Site-19. Access to SCP-4720 is restricted to Level 2 personnel for normal use. All testing of SCP-4720's primary anomalous effect must be done in the presence of a Level 3 or above Researcher. When not testing, a limit of 13 pages per person per day is to be enforced to mitigate the risk to site personnel.
SCP-4720-A is to be kept charge at all times. A Charging System is to be kept with SCP-4720 for this reason. Both SCP-4720-A and its Charging System are to be checked and tested bi-weekly.
Description: Undergoing revision.
Raw description of SCP:
SCP-4720 appears to be a Xerox 914 Photocopier. Attached to the left access door of SCP-4720 is a red wire rack holding SCP-4720-A. SCP-4720-A appears to be a small red fire extinguisher with a the words "Scorch Eliminator" painted in white along its length.
Testing thus far has shown SCP-4720 capable of copying anything so long as it fits on and withing the dimensions of its bed. When an object thicker than a single piece of paper is copied, SCP-4720 will print multiple pages featuring solid black cross-sections of the object representing a slice equal to or less than thickness of paper used for the copy. Upon completion of a copy and the alignment of all pages printed in the order of their printing, the Printed portions of each page will fuse into a perfect replica of the original object surrounded by the severed remains of the un-printed on paper.
Testing has shown SCP-4720 is capable of copying other SCP's including their anomalous properties, traits and abilities. For that reason, any and all cross testing with other SCP's has been restricted by 0-5 Command. Requests can be made to do such testing, but only 0-5 Command can authorize such testing.
Regardless of the number and nature of a copies requested, use of SCP-4720 to print 14 or more pages in a day by any single individual will cause SCP-4720 to burst into flames. SCP-4720 will continue to function unaffected by the flames, however do to the risk of damaging the object being copied, Site-19 and its personnel the flames must be extinguished.
The only known way to extinguish SCP-4720 is SCP-4720-A. SCP-4720-A must be recharged after use as its full contents is required to extinguish SCP-4720. Testing of other extinguishers and other methods for extinguishing SCP-4720 have those failed. Testing of the output of SCP-4720-A in comparison to the gas charging it shows no anomalous traits.
If a copy continues past the initial fire at 14 pages, SCP-4720 will again catch fire in a seemingly random interval no shorter than 14 pages and no greater than 28 pages until either the copy is finished or halted. If the SCP-4720 is not extinguished before another ignition interval is reached, the fire will begin to grow in intensity. Regardless of the time left running and the intensity of the flames, a single discharge of SCP-4720-A has capable of extinguishing SCP-4720.
If the object being copied is moved, removed or altered in any way during a copy SCP-4720-A will halt the copy process resulting in an incomplete copy. If a multiple-page copy was halted in any way the output will only manifest as a black paper copy of the original object equal in size and shape but terminating at the thickness of the final printed page. Testing of such objects shows them to be little more than paper and ink fused through unknown means."
Discovery: Under Revision and includes new Special Task Force (To be detailed later)
SCP-4720 came to the Foundation's attention on !!-!!-2018 after fire fighters responding to a an office fire in !!!!!!!!, Oregon reported an inability to extinguish the blaze. An agent embedded in the !!!!!!!!, Oregon's 911 Dispatch Office redirected calls for support to the foundation at which point Special Task Force Eta 4: Hot Hands was dispatched to the location.
Upon arriving at the location of fire, Eta 4 successfully identified SCP-4720 as the source of the fire. Initial efforts by Eta 4 to extinguish SCP-4720 proved unsuccessful until Eta-4-3 noticed SCP-4720-A attached to SCP-4720. Opting to try it, Eta-4-3 retrieved SCP-4720-A and successfully extinguishing the fire.
Noting that SCP-4720 and SCP-4720-A showed no damage from the fire, both objects along with the paper in the feed and output trays and the object on SCP-4720's scanning bed were secured and transported to Site-19.
Use of Class A amnestics on the fire fighters was approved with the fire being blamed on a faulty coffee machine.
Addendum:
Addendum 1:
Eta 4 Report:
"Need to fill this in. Make it funny?"
Addendum 2:
Following the unexpected manifestation of the pages recovered with SCP-4720 into a manila folder contain a 14 page financial report from !!!!!!!! and the further comparison of both the copy and the original found on the bed of SCP-4720, testing to identify the full extent of SCP-4720 capabilities was approved.
Addendum 3:
Do both to its incendiary nature and evident ability to copy other anomalous objects, request to reclassify SCP-4720 from Safe to Euclid was approved. Access to SCP-4720 for testing is now restricted to Level 3 researchers or above.
Test Logs:
Fill in the blanks? Key testing facts are that SCP-4720 will catch fire after 14 pages and printed as part of one or more copies by one researcher within 24 hours. If the researcher continues using SCP-4720 after putting out the fire, it will catch fire again ever 14-28 paged thereafter until the researcher stops.
If one researcher starts a copy that would require more than 13 pages to complete they can not simple stop at 13 pages and have another researcher restart the same copy. If the second research stops their copy after 13 pages once more, both researchers 13 pages will be the same. There is as of yet no loophole found to prevent SCP-4720 from catching fire.
The only way to put out SCP-4720 is with SCP-4720-A. How it is that SCP-4720 will continue burning while in a vacuum, submerged in water, unplugged from power… Special Containment Procedures dictate a fire proofed storage room for a good reason. Should SCP-4720 catch fire without SCP-4720-A available to put it out the best idea thus far is to use it as a heat source for power generation. The runner up idea is to use it on SCP-682 because what haven't we tried on that thing?
SCP-457 must be kept away from SCP-4720 at all cost. The idea of living flames getting to something that can burn forever… Do we really need more nightmare fuel?
