Thavionhawk-2 SCP-XXXX: RGB Keyboard and Mouse

Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-XXXX-A and B are to be stored in separate Safe class storage lockers at Site-19 when not undergoing testing. Access to SCP-XXXX-A and B for recreational use of Site 19 personnel is prohibited following indecent XXXX-1(See Addendum 1)

Description:
SCP-XXXX-A and B appear to be a set of Razer Gaming peripherals. SCP-XXXX-A, a Blackwidow Mechanical Keyboard and SCP-XXXX-A Deathadder Mouse both possess Razer Chroma RGB Lighting. When used separate from one another both SCP-XXXX-A and B operate normally showing no anomalous effects. It is only when both A and B are connected to the same computer that their effects manifest.

When a subject sits down at a computer equipped with both SCP-XXXX-A and B they will be compelled to start playing some form of computer game. If no computer games are installed on the computer being used for testing, a random one will be loaded through as of yet unknown means.

Once a game is launched the subject will looses all peripheral awareness, their focus reportedly drawn to the game such that outside of physical intervention they will continue playing until they either pass out from exhaustion or simply die of dehydration and/or starvation. At the same time SCP-XXXX will begin radiating a secondary mimetic effect causing anyone within a two meter radius to become apathetic towards the subject. Do to SCP-XXXX's apathetic effect on researchers, all testing and observations must be done at a distance.

When plugged in and not in use, the lighting of SCP-XXXX-A and B default to rainbow wave effect. This lighting effect changes the moment a subject touches both devices replacing the rainbow effect with a solid color ranging from Green to Red. While the subject plays, the lighting will slowly shift farther to the Red. Testing has shown this effect to be an adequate if somehow generalized indicator of the health and condition of the subject. If a subject does not pass out before SCP-XXXX turns a solid red, it will begin flashing for one minute at the end of which the subject will die. This indicator has proven useful for testing, however it is as of yet unknown how SCP-XXXX is able to assess the condition of a subject.

Discovery:

SCP-XXXX came to the foundation's attention after a foundation web crawler flagged a series of unexplained deaths at a PC Bang in !!!!!!, South Korea. Examination of security footage linked to the deaths led to the containment of SCP-XXXX. First thought to be the full computer station to which SCP-XXXX had been attached, testing later identified SCP-XXXX-A and B as the only anomalous objects responsible for the deaths.

No effort was made by the foundation to cover up the deaths after containment of SCP-XXXX. After replacing the confiscated hardware, it was decided releasing news of the deaths to the media would be a far simpler solution owing to a number of non-anomalous deaths already in public discussion. Creation of a lobby to help restrict access to PC Bangs for reasons of public health in South Korea has been approved for the purposes of continued monitoring of such establishments for potential new occurrences of SCP-XXXX.

Addendum:

Addendum 1:
Following the hospitalization of Doctor Hawk after an un-monitored use of SCP-XXXX resulted in his playing Rouge the Adventure Game for 21 Hours strait, access to SCP-XXXX will no-longer be permitted outside strict testing conditions. Researchers that wish to test SCP-XXXX themselves must do so under the supervision of another researcher and all testing must be logged.
