Special Containment Procedures: SCP-xxxx is to be housed in a standard, windowless two-room cell, currently at Site 17, with the following changes:

• Titanium reinforced walls, ceiling, and floor at least two feet in width.
• A wooden writing desk of sufficient size
• An emergency lockdown system capable of blast-sealing the cell’s door and flooding the cell with gaseous sedative.

SCP-xxxx must wear a tracking anklet at all times (as implanted tracking devices have failed to transmit an accurate signal past its uniquely composed epidermis), subject to sedation or, failing that, termination should it attempt to remove said device. SCP-xxxx is currently allowed Class 2 socialization privileges as long as it maintains cooperative behavior. SCP-xxxx is to be monitored at all times, even when within its own quarters, and is to be accompanied by no less than five armed guards at all times, either stationed outside its cell or following it closely throughout the compound. Should SCP-xxxx attempt to use thaumatology or any of its latent abilities besides basic telekinesis without express approval by Level 3 or higher staff, it is to be sedated and its socialization privileges revoked until further notice.

As long as it maintains good behavior, SCP-xxxx is permitted access to SCP-xxxx-1 and enough writing materials to continue its own research. When given express permission by Level 3 or higher staff and while monitored by Level 2 or higher staff, SCP-xxxx may use limited amounts of thaumatology as part of said research. Exceeding expressly stated limits on permitted thaumatology, as set out by the Level 3 or higher staff who approved the request, is to result in automatic sedation and removal of all privileges. While not in the possession of SCP-xxxx, SCP-xxxx-1 is to be kept in a secure vault composed of reinforced titanium, protected by no less than eight armed guards at all times. Within the vault, SCP-xxxx-1 is to be held in a locked safe. No staff of any kind without Level 3 clearance are to be allowed into the vault, nor are any staff without sufficient clearance to be granted access to the safe’s combination. The status of SCP-xxxx-1 and its security is to be monitored by security camera at all times, with further security staff ready to be deployed in case of a breach.

All instances of SCP-xxxx-2 are to be terminated or, should termination prove impossible or infeasible, contained according to their unique and unpredictable properties.

Description: SCP-xxxx is a female humanoid of indeterminate species, possessing DNA similar to but not quite matching recognized human DNA patterns. SCP-xxxx possess blue skin, covered partially in protective ridges of bone, fangs, and retractable claws, as well silver hair and solid blue eyes. Its skeleton, fangs, claws, and exoskeletal structures are all composed of a as of yet not understood meld of human bone and a metal alloy similar to [REDACTED]. SCP-xxxx identifies itself alternatively as “The Professor” or “Zenthia”, usually preferring the former, and has proved almost universally cooperative and respectful to Foundation staff, provided that it is allowed to continue its arcane research at a reasonable pace. This research is contingent on SCP-xxxx having access to SCP-xxxx-1, which is to be allowed as long as SCP-xxxx continues to comply with the Foundation.

SCP-xxxx possess a number of notable qualities and abilities, as well as control over advanced Type

• Green Thaumatology. These qualities and abilities that have been documented include:
• Superhuman tolerance for pain and physical punishment.
• Advanced telekinesis out to a range of approximately 300 meters
• Controlled discharges of heat and/or electrical energy

The origin and nature of these abilities is believed to be closely tied to SCP-xxxx-1.

SCP-xxxx-1 is a large, leather-bound tome containing a collection of thaumaturgical and occult texts. The anomalous effects of the book are not yet fully understood, although it is known to have a cumulative warping effect on the human body and mind.

SCP-xxxx was acquired, along with SCP-xxxx-1, at a clandestine meeting arranged between Foundation retrieval agents and agents of the Global Occult Coalition, which requested the meeting on behalf of SCP-xxxx itself. SCP-xxxx voluntarily surrendered itself, along with SCP-xxxx-1, into Foundation custody. SCP-xxxx has since maintained cooperative behavior, with the exception of Incident [REDACTED].

Dr. Monroe: You’ve referred to yourself as the Professor. Why? Do you have a name beyond that?

SCP-xxxx: Of course I have another name. At one point I was as human as you, as I have mentioned multiple times, to your and your colleagues’ continued disbelief.

Dr. Monroe: We do not doubt the information you’ve given us, we merely want to confirm these facts for ourselves as well. To better understand what you are and what has happened to you.

SCP-xxxx: Yes, of course. Because you are such impartial scientists.

Dr. Monroe: So if you were human, who were you, and why did you stop using your given name?

SCP-xxxx: I was born Rhea Silver, but when I… ceased to be human, I felt that my birth name no longer fit. I was an academic, a student at -—- Academy.

Dr. Monroe: And that is how you became a professor? At the Academy?

SCP-xxxx: Not quite. I only adopted the nickname ‘Professor’ when that became the GOC agents’ main way of referring to me, about two centuries after I was transformed.

Dr. Monroe: I believe when we first made contact with you, you also referred to yourself as ‘Zenthia.’ Care to explain?

SCP-xxxx: …Not particularly. Maintaining a cult is a distasteful and thankless business. I am not proud of some actions I took in the eighteenth century.

Dr. Monroe: …okay. In that case, how is it that you, as you put it, ceased to be human?

SCP-xxxx: Is this really necessary? I explained this in great detail to the agents with whom I made contact, as well as Dr. ████████.

Dr. Monroe: Please, humor me. For the record. Summarize.

SCP-xxxx: If you insist. It began when my study group in the academy stumbled upon the Grimoire Formis—the artifact which you refer to as SCP-xxxx-1. The twelve of us found ourselves captivated: there was so much the book could teach us, knowledge we didn’t believe could be learned anywhere else. As we studied, however, the secrets began to change us; subtly, at first, but by the time we noticed we had progressed far past the point of turning back. When we completed our studies and the truth dawned on us, the connection between the shift in our mentality and our physical forms manifested fully, and we were transformed. Violently so, such that what little remained of our minds was lost. I was the only exception, and was able to retain myself. I used my new form to put the others out of their misery.

Dr. Monroe: Do you know why you were able to keep your mental faculties while the others were not?

SCP-xxxx: I have searched for an answer to that question for over a century and made very little progress.

Dr. Monroe: Alright. Why did you decide to surrender yourself into our custody? You did confirm that you yourself requested that the GOC contact us about your existence.

SCP-xxxx: Indeed. After a recent incident that nearly resulted in my exposure to civilians, and potentially to my accidently harming them, I decided that it would be best for everyone, myself included, if I was relocated to somewhere… more secure.

Dr. Monroe: That’s it? You decided to give up your freedom of movement just to ensure no contact with civilians. End of story.

SCP-xxxx: Well there were. Several other factors.

Dr. Monroe: Go on.

SCP-xxxx: Let’s just say… as long as I remain here, I am out of the game, so to speak.

Dr. Monroe: Would you mind elaborating?

SCP-xxxx: I would rather not explain this matter, lest your pursue it. There could be consequences.

Dr. Monroe: Remember, you agreed to cooperate with us. We can’t allow you to continue your work if you don’t work with us, let alone answer our most basic interview questions.

SCP-xxxx is silent for almost a full minute.

Dr. Monroe: I’m waiting, Professor.

+ Appendix 3: Project xxxx-003 Final Results

Exposure to SCP-xxxx-1 generally follows a four step progression:

1. Subjects are first exposed to SCP-xxxx-1. Regardless of the subjects’ initial interest, after about an hour of reading from the tome, subjects quickly gain an interest in the topics of the book and an intense desire to continue reading. After approximately three hours of reading, a subject’s level of interest in SCP-xxxx-1 turns to obsession without fail. This is about the last point of exposure before the onset of permanent anomalous effects in the subject; one hundred percent of subjects isolated from the item at this point recovered completely from their exposure, after an average of two weeks isolation. Reexposure to SCP-xxxx-1 begins the process again from the beginning, with the only difference being that the obsession sets in after only one and a half hours.
2. Subjects continue to study SCP-xxxx-1 past the onset of obsession. This stage lasts for a long period averaging three months. Subjects will still see to their biological and hygienic needs as normal, but will do little else besides study the text. This study often involves taking near indecipherable notes and attempting to recreate rituals or experiments described in the text, to varying results. Throughout this process, the first signs of anomalous side effects reveal themselves, slowly altering the form of the subject. These changes vary widely between subjects and do not appear to follow any identifiable pattern. They can range from purely cosmetic effects, such as a shift in skin, hair, or eye color, to psychological effects, such as significant shifts in personality or the contraction of different forms of insanity, to extreme physiological changes, such as the growth of new organs or limbs or changes in what materials the body is capable of digesting. These alteration are permanent, and zero percent of subjects isolated from SCP-xxxx-1 after the effects manifested recovered from them. One hundred percent of subjects isolated in this stage did, however, eventually recover from their obsession, although on average it took three times as long as it took subjects isolated in the first stage.
3. Subjects complete their study of SCP-xxxx-1. At this point, subjects will self isolate from the item, leaving it behind and retreating to whatever location they consider their home (or at least the most comfortable place for them to retreat to). Subjects become despondent, refusing to eat, drink, clean themselves, or engage with others in any fashion. Subjects will spend hours at a time mumbling to themselves, often in languages they should not know, and will spend the rest of their time sleeping. This period of depression lasts an average of two days. Subjects that reach this point can no longer recover from their exposure to any extent, and progress to stage four without fail.
4. Subjects undergo a violent physical and mental transformation. Most subjects will attempt to flee artificial structures to the outdoors before this transformation takes place. Physically, the subjects transform into creatures of a wide variety, but all possessing bizarre combinations of monstrous, animalistic, and anomalous traits. The mental aspect of this transformation is not well understood, as experiments have failed to yield sufficient amounts of data for proper analysis. However, all subjects that progress this far appear to have lost nearly all aspects of their previous personality and self. Subjects that have progressed all the way to stage four of exposure to SCP-xxxx-1 are referred to as instances of SCP-xxxx-2. All instances of SCP-xxxx-2 have proved extremely hostile and dangerous. Approximately 57 members of foundation staff have been killed in attempts of contain and terminate instances of SCP-xxxx-2 during Project xxxx-003. To date, no instances of SCP-xxxx-2 have retained a fully humanoid form.
