The Marooned's Seashell

Special Containment Procedures: The object will be placed in the middle of a sound-proof room on a visco-elastic, polymeric pedestal to prevent vibration distortion of the sound produced by the object. A sound sensor and an ultra-sensitive microphone will be placed near the object and must be active at all times. The sensor and microphone will be connected to an alert system to the United States Coast Guard along with a recorded file of the audio that caused the alert. Any abnormal glowing patterns on SCP-XXXX must be reported for analysis.

All audio recorded from microphones in SCP-XXXX's chamber will be reviewed every week and will be archived to the local database. The object is considered fragile so utmost care must be taken when handling it. Microphones must be tested every week to prevent equipment failure.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a dark-gray conch shell with light-blue, luminous spots lining the length of the shell. Other than the abnormal coloring and the natural tendency for the shell to glow, the shell seems to have all the characteristics of a normal conch shell.

The shell's anomalous effects arise when a maritime incident occurs. These incidents include plane crashes, sinking ships, or other sea-based occurrences. 3.5-4.5 hours before the event occurs, the shell will begin to imitate sounds and voices from the event even though the event hasn't occurred yet. The volume of the event will be perfectly imitated by the shell causing much of the produced audio to be over 100 dB (decibels). The imitated sounds occur from 30-35 minutes before the event has concluded. (see Audio Log XXXX-A1).

Certain incidents that are imitated by the shell include coordinates or locations in them allowing Site-152 to notify emergency personnel and hopefully rescue or warn the effected person(s).

Acquisition: The shell was found buried 3 meters under the sand of ████ beach in ████, Hawaii. It first gained the attention of the foundation when many reports of disembodied yells or screams on ████ beach came in to ████'s police stations. The Foundation sent a Recovery Team to the reported location to attempt to find the anomaly to the Recovery Team's success.

This audio log is the first recorded anomalous effect of SCP-XXXX and is an imitation of the crashing of Flight-████ by SCP-XXXX

Pilot [DATA EXPUNGED] is heard regaining his seat after presumably going to relieve himself.
Co-Pilot [DATA EXPUNGED]: "I get you're trying to be funny but that's disgusting, [DATA EXPUNGED]. You might as well have just told me how it went."
Pilot: "Well first off-"
Co-Pilot: "Nope, not listening."
Both the pilot and the co-pilot laugh audibly. Silence passes between the men for the next 20 minutes. Airliner ambiance continues in the background.
The sound of an alert begins ringing in the background.
Pilot: "What the hell? The cabin is depressurizing! What did yo-"
A loud bang and a muffled thump of something large falling on the floor is heard.
Co-Pilot: I'm sorry [DATA EXPUNGED], me and you, both."
Alert System: "Veering off course, please maintain original flight path."
Silence from the co-pilot.
Alert System: "Altitude decreasing rapidly, pull up."
Continued silence from the co-pilot.
Alert System: "Altitude decreasing rapidly, pull up."

████ Airlines was notified and Pilot [DATA EXPUNGED] was informed of the danger posed by his co-pilot, [DATA EXPUNGED]. The co-pilot was apprehended by ████ Airport security staff and Foundation personnel 1 hour before the event. Co-pilot [DATA EXPUNGED] was taken into custody and charged with attempted mass murder of the 57 people on-board and possession of a handgun on an airliner.

The Catternaut

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX will be stored in a bullet-proof glass box at all times. Only personnel with Level 2 Security Clearance may handle SCP-XXXX with High Command's permission. Any alternate instances of SCP-XXXX-1 that have not been logged should be immediately logged. Interacting with an instance of XXXX-1 is strictly prohibited because of the collateral danger of the instance.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a small, dark-green laser toy for house-cats that is approximately 6.35 cm long and 1.27 cm wide. Attached to the laser is a 6.35 cm long braided metal chain with a metal safety hook at the end. A small, standard laser safety warning sticker (in Japanese) is present on one side of the cylindrical toy. The object seems to be able to function without batteries or any type of mechanical fuel. The object itself displays no anomalous qualities in physical or mechanical function.

However, after ~30 seconds after activating the toy and erratically waving the produced laser about, a teenage house-cat (Felis Catus) will materialize outside of the user's peripherals (the cat will not appear until the area it will appear from is completely void of visual contact). The creature that is created will be of a variable subspecies (see Recorded List of Subspecies). The cat will play with, and pay no attention to anything but, the laser dot. The cat is, seemingly, completely indestructible and any attempts to destroy it have failed (see Experiment Log: XXXX-1-E1). The cat has disturbingly increased strength and speed.

Bite force has been recorded at 6000 psi before shattering the control material in under 2.5 seconds (see Incident Report: XXXX-1-1I). The cat has reached speeds of up to 3,300 kmh and showed no signs of fatigue (see Experiment Log: XXXX-1-E2). The claws seem to be able to slash through any object in-between the cat and the laser. SCP-XXXX-1 will take the most direct path to the laser and is, apparently, capable of seeing it or sensing it through walls by unknown means. Biological tests on the creature are inconclusive due to its nature. Upon deactivation of SCP-XXXX, the cat will immediately cease all body movement and velocity and be seemingly frozen in time. SCP-XXXX-1 will disappear after all visual contact with it has been taken away. Other animals seem unaware of the presence of the subject and the cat will try to avoid an animal at every possible opportunity unless the laser dot is focused on the animal (see Experiment Log XXXX-1-E3)

Acquisition: Reports of a "Killer Cat" or something too fast to see in Aoshima, Ehime reached the Foundation and the Foundation sent an armed Recovery Team to investigate. They found the object in possession of [DATA EXPUNGED], a 43-year-old Japanese woman. When Recovery personnel forcefully entered the premises, the lady attacked the Recovery team with SCP-XXXX but accidentally pointed SCP-XXXX at herself and was ripped in half by SCP-XXXX-1. Recovery was successful and family members were amnestised.

After finding out that the cat was completely bulletproof and impregnable to needles the Foundation decided to test the limits of the cat's indestructibility. Ethics were not taken into account for the evidence gained by studying SCP-XXXX-1 supported the theory of it not existing at all and unable to feel pain. They submitted the subject to many of the treatments given to SCP-682.

+ Experiment: XXXX-1-2E

Laser was held in one singular spot via a robotic arm to test the cat’s endurance. This caused the cat to bounce its front legs up and down on the spot for 15 minutes causing large, paw-shaped dents in the floor and sprawling cracks that ran the length of the research area. The experiment was aborted for fear of a structural collapse.
