Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to have a 5 m tall steel wall surround it at all times. There must be 1 armed guard situated every 500 m along the steel wall to make sure no one breaches it and enters SCP-XXXX. Anyone found trespassing into SCP-XXXX’s containment site must be terminated on sight.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a medium sized lake located in Russia that is approximately 3 km in area. The water comes from glaciers in the mountains nearby, and it runs off into a small river that goes underground roughly 5 km north from SCP-XXXX. This river is fenced off at all times. The water that runs into SCP-XXXX does not display any anomalous effects, although water taken directly from SCP-XXXX does.

SCP-XXXXs anomalous properties affect any organic entity that enters its water. Entities in the water of SCP-XXXX have their natural aging process sped up considerably, to the point where a 20 year old human standing fully submerged in the water for five minutes ages 60 years. If an entity in SCP-XXXX has reached their natural death point while standing in the water, they will not die but their bodies will continue to deteriorate, rotting away until almost nothing is left. Research on SCP-XXXX has proved that entities are not able to die when standing in the water, even if all their vital organs are gone. Entities in SCP-XXXX will immediately decease as soon as they are removed from the water of SCP-XXXX.

Large amounts of fish and other marine life exists in SCP-XXXX, including different types of Carp and Sturgeon. These creatures are classified as instances of SCP-XXXX-A. These animals behave like they normally would, seemingly not bothered by their bodies rapidly rotting. They eat, swim, sleep, mate, and fight, regardless of whether they retain the proper organs to do so. Specimens of SCP-XXXX-A are believed to be hundreds of years old due to the properties of SCP-XXXX, but it is difficult to conduct research on them as their bodies disintegrate as soon as they are taken out of the water.

Although plant life has been found in SCP-XXXX, there seems to be considerably less than the average lake of a similar size and location. All SCP-XXXX-A instances appear to be purely carnivorous even when the species they are from are herbivores or omnivores. Larger SCP-XXXX-A instances will prey on smaller creatures, while the smaller ones themselves will feed mainly on scraps. It is unknown how, or if, SCP-XXXX-A instances are able to digest their food.

Test Logs

TEST 1
Subject Subject: D-1124
Male
22
2 accounts of homicide
Protocol D-1124 was ordered to attempt to swim in SCP-XXXX for 5 minutes. D-1124 was hesitant but eventually complied.
Results D-1124’s body aged roughly 60 years when he was in the waters of SCP-XXXX. D-1124 could still function as a normal 82 year old after he was removed from the water. He lived on for 2 weeks before he was terminated.

TEST 2
Subject D-3421
Female
35
Arson
Protocol D-3421 was chained to a piece of concrete and submerged into SCP-XXXX, with her head above the water, for 20 minutes.
Results When the protocol was done, D-3421’s body had aged approximately 160 years. Her body seemed to be in the advanced decay stages of decomposition. D-3421 was still able to talk when she was submerged. D-3421 reported that she felt perfectly fine, but was a little itchy. D-3421’s body disintegrated as soon as it was taken out of the water.

TEST 3
Subject D-8977
Male
47
1 account of homicide
Protocol D-8977 was given a glass full of water from SCP-XXXX and told to drink it.
Results D-8977 experienced the ageing effect from SCP-XXXX while the water was inside of his body. He aged roughly 500 years before he urinated the water out, causing him to disintegrate.
