Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: As of yet, SCP-XXXX is unable to be contained as its location does not allow for the ease of transit to SCP-XXXX. 2 observational Satellites are to be placed in orbit of SCP-XXXX however their relative attitude must remain above 30 km, see incident SCP-XXXX-a1 for reference. Due to the elliptical orbit of SCP-XXXX every [REDACTED] years, information control is required to keep the existence of SCP-XXXX a secret. During orbital phase IV no object must travel within 30 km of the surface of SCP-XXXX.

SCP-XXXX in orbital phase III

SCP-XXXX is an almost perfect spherical object that is approximately 25 km in diameter in a highly concentric elliptical orbit around the sun. For easier reference the orbit of SCP-XXXX is divided into 4 phases that are directly related to the average position of SCP-XXXX in relation to the sun. Orbital phase I is directly after phase IV and begins when the layer of ice on the surface begins to reappreciate, this occurs approximately [REDACTED] days after perihelion is reached. Orbital phase II is marked with the smoothing of the surface of SCP-XXXX and proceeds until orbital phase III. Phase II begins approximately three months after phase I. Phase III is the period of time after aphelion where SCP-XXXX is inert and completely unchanging, any surface expeditions are to take place at this time. Orbital phase IV occurs [REDACTED] days before perihelion and proceeds until the beginning of Phase I again [REDACTED] days after aphelion. During orbital phase IV the surface temperature rises to approximately 300k. This is still much colder than the surrounding space. However, this rise in temperature changes the surface composition such that 80% of the amorphous ice layer and 45% of the ice-IV layer ablate. This then exposes approximately 5% of the inner organic layer.

The average surface temperature is much lower than that of surrounding space and is caused by no known natural phenomenon. The composition of the surface is mainly ice-IV with an amorphous ice coating acting as an ablative layer. The interior of SCP-XXXX is unknown however it is surmised to be organic in nature. Through seismic analysis on mission SCP-XXXX-2 a 1-1-1 km cube comprised of unknown metallic material has been discovered. This cube is not penetrable by scans and a third expedition is being made to classify what is inside the cube. Surrounding the cube is an organic layer that is at minimum 20 km in thickness. From incident SCP-XXXX-a1 it has been concluded that the organic layer possesses a sensory range of at least 25 km from the surface, see incident SCP-XXXX-a1 for more details. In addition to being covered by ice the organic layer has a natural defense system of tendrils that are at least 25 km long, see incident SCP-XXXX-a1 for more details.
