A great, golden egg lay in the void. There wasn't anything. Then, everything. From that egg sprang forth the universe, and everything along with it. And yet, the egg was still unbroken, for a greater being lay within…
He woke with a jolt. There wasn't anything around him apart from the barren rock that made up the landscape and the shards of gold that lay around him for hundreds of meters, which he assumed came from his shell. He remembered nothing of what happened before, only the now. He looked down at a puddle of water, that seemingly appeared out of nowhere, and saw a reptilian face look back. He was a lizard. For some reason, this was fitting. Of course, it was, why would he have been in an egg if he wasn't a lizard. Strangely enough, though, he wasn't even sure why he had thought of the words: 'reptile' and 'lizard'. Maybe he just thought of it. He decided not to ponder any longer and set off to explore. The result of hours of walking wasn't specifically exciting, just more rock.
This is boring, I wish there were other things that existed.
And so he dreamed on for hours, about a world with splendid rainbows and beautiful oases, and most of all, other beings. He dreamed on for hours, coming on to more and more details. Eventually, he had created the perfect paradise in his head, so real that, when he opened his eyes, he thought that he would exist within his paradise. He was disappointed in the world around him, and he wished he could do something about it. There was something inside of him that just wanted to change it. And then, it did.
He had reached into his heart and with an unknown power drew out an ocean. He was stunned by this sudden event and even leaped backwards in surprise. A great mass of deep blue filled the crevasse in front of him. He was confused, and pondered on it for a long time. He eventually came to a stop and wanted to try that again. So he used the same power that he had used the first time and drew out something else. From his claws, life sprang and danced around, eventually landing in the ocean he created. He couldn't see these creatures, but he could sense their presence, and it comforted him.
These small lifeforms soon became bigger, until eventually, he could see them. Fish, he thought, yes, they were fish. These life forms slowly followed him onto land, and, using his inner power, he created plant life. These new animals took on similar forms to him, four legs, a tail, and a long head. Reptiles, he thought, reptiles. They evolved, from creatures barely a hundredth of his own size to creatures that challenged him in sheer size. Dinosaurs, he would call them. He watched as his creations took to the skies, with life spanning throughout all of the continents. And this power that he had? He called it love. Through millennia, he would watch, as his creations would rise and fall, just like the sunset. He felt a strong bond with them, as if they were connected, and then he would laugh at himself. '', Of course I feel a have a strong bond with them, I created them!'' He would tell himself. He enjoyed these happy moments.
As he grew older and more experienced, his creations became more complex. There were now a vast variety of lifeforms, from the smallest arachnid to the largest whale, he would continue creating more life with his omniscient powers of love.
Then, the humans arrived.
They were curious and inquisitive, a bit like him. He enjoyed the presence of humans, they admired him, and he adored them. He almost felt like a father to them, and though he loved every creature he had ever bestowed life to, he felt a particular bond to them. He would create presents for them, like tools, fire, and metal. To return the favor, they put him in their myths and legends. Whenever he traveled to a new place, he always made sure to look at their murals and tapestries. He had already seen a variety of depictions for him. From long, slender eels, who slither through the sky, to large, bulky creatures with wings. He enjoyed them for that reason too. But one thing had connected him to humanity in a way that no other could rival: He could speak to them.
