Description: SCP-5212, also known as "The Happy Button" or "The Smile Button" is a small, plastic button with a smiley face drawn onto it. The Happy Button shows no signs of intelligence, but does seem to show signs of being alive. Destruction of The Happy Button has been observed to be physically impossible, despite only being made of plastic. SCP-5212 cannot move or speak on it's own, and while it is technically alive, it doesn't need food or water to survive. The only time SCP-5212 makes any sounds is when a person pushes it, it will make a small ding sound.
A person pressing SCP-5212 will usually have something good happen to them, making them feel happy. The thing that happens will usually be small, like a dollar will appear on the floor behind them or a person will walk by and give them a compliment. The feeling of happiness that results will prompt the person to push the button again, and this time something even better will happen, the person may get a raise or they may find a winning lottery ticket somewhere. The third push is where people start depending on SCP-5212, as now they are under SCP-5212's control. The third push will result in a person that the pusher hates meeting their death, the feeling of happiness is no longer the person's own emotions, but SCP-5212 altering the pusher's brain to make them feel that way. The pusher will now grow addicted to SCP-5212's effects, and any other pushes of The Happy Button will only cause twice as many people to die as the last push. A person can usually survive up to 15 pushes before they die, but a person was once recorded to have pressed the button 27 times, killing over 30 million people.
