Writing for the Void
The Void is an extra dimensional location where occasionally humans or object “Fall” into (This is not related to the Void Scranton fell into)
Environment
The Void’s ground is made entirely of Black mud that can only grow potatoes which the townspeople sustain themselves on. It should be noted that the mud is very suitable to growing potatoes. No one remembers when they got the potatoes and most believe they are a natural part of the Void, as they have grown across the whole Void.
The Sky is entirely black just like the mud although it doesn’t affect the visibility of the townsfolk as they can see perfectly as there is simply no darkness not even shadows but this doesn’t affect their sleep cycle as almost everything is black anyway.
The Forest is located a fair bit away from the town. People that go into it don’t come back the same IF they come back. The townsfolk avoid it and it is an open danger to the town that can’t be avoided by staying away but the townsfolk don’t realize this as they are too busy drowning away the feelings of helplessness with food and drink.
The Town
The town is made up of a few dozen one room one bed shacks made from the same wood as the black leafless trees in the forest. If you ask the townsfolk they would say the buildings were already there when they “Fell” maybe the Hillbilly know he was here for the longest
In the middle of the town near were new people land after “Falling” there is a blackwood sign displaying “Rules of the Void 1) You better like potatoes 2) You better like bluegrass 3) Be friends with everyone =) 4) Don’t go into the Forest
There is also some Blackwood benches that the townspeople feast on
The townsfolk
The townsfolk spend most of there time drinking the Stiller’s Voka choosing to get drunk instead of trying to find ways out of the Void or Dealing with the Forest. Due to this and the surplus of potatoes every day is a constant feast of potatoes prepared in every way imaginable. The townsfolk don’t let anything interrupt their food or drink preferring to make life a constant feast to cope with their situation and refuse to recognize anything that would stop the feasting such as the danger the forest poses
The Hillbilly
The Hillbilly sits on his rocking chair and plays bluegrass on his banjo all day and night without eating drinking or sleeping. He has been in the town for as long as anyone can remember. Due to his self subsidence that the Void somehow gave him he is the only member of the town who is free from the feast culture. Since the town doesn’t know his name they call him “The Hillbilly”
The Stiller
The Stiller “Fell” into the town with some distillery equipment which he used to make Voka that replaced the muddy water the townsfolk were drinking before and started the feast culture the town has today. The Stiller is the second oldest in the town only beat by the hillbilly he also blames himself for making the many drunks on the street. He made the distillery for survival not to drown the town in drink but he is not entirely free from the feast culture. His real name is David Johnson but the town prefers to use his title “The Stiller”
The Cook
The cook runs the kitchen that prepares plater after plater of potato dishes to keep the constant feast going. She has a small following of devout chefs that She commands in the kitchen. The chefs call themselves the Children of the Stove and worship “The Cook” as a prophet of their god sent to deliver divine recipes to keep the “eternal feast” going. Her real name is Sarah O’Neal
