SCP-X in containment.

Item #: SCP-X

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: In total, 3 living instances of SCP-X are currently accounted for at site- ██. All contained instances are to be kept seperate in individual holding cells, each measuring 7 meters in length, 7 meters in width, and 7 meters in height. All personnel who interact with an instance of SCP-X are to have their spines shielded by the provided bullet resistant vests at all times.

Description: SCP-X are a species of insectoid organisms possessing a horse-like head as well as a total of 4 appendages. The species has no known biological origin or genitalia. It is currently unknown how SCP-X reproduces. Each instance of SCP-X can compress and decompress their torso to adjust their height. Recorded heights range from 1 meter to 5 meters. Additionally, each instance of SCP-X is capable of walking upright on their backmost legs and each is extremely thin. Their bodies are not structurally capable of holding their heads up, suggesting anomalous forces are responsible.

SCP-X has a parasitic relationship with human subjects, using them as a way of gathering food and a mode of transport. Upon discovering a suitable human host (who will now be referred to as SCP-X-1), instances of SCP-X have been reported to adjust their height until their torso is as long as their host's spine. SCP-X will then proceed to insert its limbs into SCP-X-1, attaching itself to their host's back and wrapping its limbs around the spine of its host. A currently unidentifiable chemical will then be injected into SCP-X-1, allowing SCP-X to control its victim's every action. At this state, SCP-X-1 is commonly reported to crawl on all fours and is shown to gather food, which is anonomosly transported to SCP-X's digestive track after being consumed by SCP-X-1. If SCP-X-1 dies for any reason, SCP-X will detatch itself and look for new hosts.

Discovery and Additional Notes: The first instance of SCP-X was successfully contained on April 1st, 2020, in the ██████ Rainforest. The additional two were discovered and captured in ███████, Alabama, on July 29th, 2020. A fourth specimen was discovered in █████ on August 17th, but it was killed when an explosive device was unintentionally activated. This incident suggests that SCP-X are relatively easy to neutralize, though further experimentation with explosives is yet to be authorized.
