Picture of SCP-XXXX before containment

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is in the center of Site-██ and is not to be interacted with by any personnel on-site. Every year during the months of September to December Site-██ is to be blocked off from all personnel due to the fatal effects of SCP-XXXX during that time of the year. Due to recent accidents (see incident log SCP-XXXX.1) All personnel at Site-██ are to be made aware of the anomalous effects of SCP-XXXX.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a lone tree in the center of Site-██. The tree is impossible to cut down because any action that is done to the tree is done to the person that is interacting with the tree. Because of the nature of SCP-XXXX Site-██ was built around the object. It was discovered whenever a leaf falls off of the tree naturally any sentient being in the same building as SCP-XXXX will be terminated when the leaf hits the ground.

Addendum-XXXX.1: Discovery: SCP-XXXX was discovered in ██████ forest during the construction of Site-██. One of the D-class personnel that were assigned to clear out the forest for the construction of Site-██ attempted to cut down the object and received a fatal wound in their stomach that would be consistent with the axe the personnel was using trying to cut down the tree. As he bled out his last words were "the tree did it". Rumors of a cult obsessed with nature in the area may be responsible for the anomalous effects of SCP-XXXX. At first experts in the field seemed confident that they would be able to identify the species of SCP-XXXX, thinking it some common deciduous species, only to be listless when actually attempting to identify it, or even describe it taxonomically. Botanist Dr.█████ entered into a manic episode during an hour-long session in which he attempted to describe the tree in scientific terms.

Incident-XXXX.1: On September 21st 19██ Researchers, Gary █████ and Mary █████ not knowing the effects of SCP-XXXX thinking the tree was only for decoration attempted to carve their initials into SCP-XXXX. As soon as Researcher Gary ████ attempted to carve the first letter of his name into the tree he received a major stab wound in his chest. Gary was then put into Site-██’s infirmary and survived the interaction with SCP-XXXX. Both researchers were then reprimanded and containment procedures of SCP-XXXX were changed

Incident-XXXX.2: During the first year of site-██'s operation, it was noted that many personnel and sentient SCPs at the site were dying of mysterious causes during the months of autumn. When the last leaf fell from SCP-XXXX Dr.██████████ concluded that SCP-XXXX was the cause of the mysterious deaths at Site-██. After the discovery of this effect of SCP-XXXX all SCPs in Site-██ were relocated to new sites and the entirety of site-██ was dedicated to the containment of SCP-XXXX and containment procedures were updated as needed and SCP-XXXX was reclassified as Euclid

Experiment log SCP-XXXX-1: With the permission of Site Director ████████ experiments were done on SCP-XXXX with the use of numerous D-class personnel.

Experiment log SCP-XXXX-2: D-3675 was instructed to pull a leaf off of SCP-XXXX. After D-3675 pulled the leaf a hair off of D-3675's head and fell to the floor. The leaf that was pulled off immediately grew back on. Since the leaf had not naturally fallen off of SCP-XXXX no personnel at Site-██ were killed.

Experiment log SCP-XXXX-3: D-9054 was instructed to light SCP-XXXX on fire. As soon as the fire touched SCP-XXXX D-9054 spontaneously caught on fire and could not be put out despite the best efforts of the team with D-9054. D-9054 was then terminated due to the effects of SCP-XXXX and the remains of his body were disposed of.

Experiment log SCP-XXXX-4: D-6849 was instructed to rip the bark off of SCP-XXXX. When he attempted to do this a piece of his skin was peeled off by an unknown source and D-6849 was sent to the site infirmary.

Experiment log SCP-XXXX-5: D-5266 was told to touch the tree gently. When D-5266 touched the tree he felt a "woody feeling" object touching his arm.

Experiment log SCP-XXXX-6 Researcher █████'s dog was brought into the facility to test on the tree. When the dog came into contact with SCP-XXXX he proceeded to mark his territory onto the tree and then had a wet patch appear on his body. Testing of the liquid that appeared on the dog showed it was dog urine that had the dog's DNA.

Experiment log SCP-XXXX-7 D-3485 was instructed to use a nearby leaf blower on the object to see if non-violent interactions are also reflected. D-3485 then had his hair blown in the direction the tree's leaves were blown into.

Experiment log SCP-XXXX-8: Researcher ██████ has suggested we uproot the tree but the idea has been denied due to the possible catastrophic effects of the surrounding environment.
