Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5979 needs to be contained in a 10 m x 7m x 15 m cube. the inside of the cube has dirt and soil on every surface on the inside and a 20 inch thick steel wall to reinforce the outside of the cube.
Description: SCP-5979 is a anomalous fungal life formwhich will contaminate the air around it with its infectious spores that cause a fatal infection that causes the host then known as SCP-5979-1's body will immediately go into shock then will cause the muscles to spasm and the body will release more of the spores with every breath that SCP-5979-1 takes.
Resulting in more spores of SCP-5979 that can and will cause more lifeforms to be infected, after 2 minutes of spasms the skin of Scp-5979-1 will undergo a violent transformation into what is known as SCP-5979-2, are mushrooms that painfully sprout from the skin of SCP-5979-1 (which is the final step in the life cycle of SCP-5979) and will grow up to 1 m in length (these will not appear in any other way in the wild)and then will proceed to release more of the SCP-5979 spores.
After 30-55 minutes of spores being released SCP-5979-2 will liquefy into a substance that is only found elsewhere in small amounts in SCP-500 and if taken orally or injected will cure nearly all known ailments except for [DATA REDACTED],SCP-5979 and SCP-049-2 however the researchers found at site [DATA RETRACTED] drinking or injecting the liquid has a negative effect on the user mentally.
If given more than 1500 ML the subjects will tear at their hair and face to the point of needing to be tranquilized, to prevent further harm when the subjects wake up they recall nothing about the events that led up the interview, although if not tranquilized the subject attempted out thir eyes and attempted to a attack the personnel the subject was then shot to prevent harm to the staff.
However if given a less then 1500 ML the subjects are cured from whatever ailments they are inflicted with,
SCP-5979 was found by agents posing as botanists in a small farm near the Alberta,Montana border where a farmer was found dead by a woman who was visiting the area and her car broke down and she whent to the door and when there was no answer she broke in and found the body of the farmer with mushrooms growing out of the body, and promptly call the local authorities and that was when the fondation was alerted to the anomaly.
It took the foundation 14 hours and 34 teams of foundation
personnel and MTF THETA 4, BETA 7 and LAMBDA 12 in hazmat equipment to dig up all of SCP-5979 's mycelia and collect all of the spores. The animals at the farm were infected by SCP-5979 but was alive and showed no signs of pain or distress.
