| Object Class: Safe | Classified |
Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-4285 is to remain in a standard steel containment chamber under constant video surveillance, the observation room is to be sealed from all sound coming from SCP-4285's containment chamber and only level 2 researchers and above are able to conduct tests. All tests require consent from the nearest on-site director due to recent events, otherwise no testing it to be carried out, if unauthorized testing/access occurs a standard lock down procedure is to be followed. Two Security Personnel are to be positioned outside the jurisdiction of SCP-4285's chamber during all tests, not matter what is happening within them. There is to be a minimum of 2 Class-D during testing when SCP-4285 is being 'played', otherwise it will be considered a failed test.
Description:
SCP-4285 is a standard trumpet design sold by the musical company ██████. It is completely made of organic material, all of which is Homo Sapien sized. It's outer, viewable regions consist of standard human flesh where no pigmentation has occurred and it's inner regions consist of small intestines bent and stretched/enlarged to correspond to the correct design. The only exception is the valve stem of the trumpet, which is made of bone. It is unknown how it maintains it's shape due to the absence of any active muscles or bones but it is known that it has tendencies to move or stretch in no observable patterns.
The trumpet plays music that an expert in this field would produce if no errors were made, even if the user isn't playing it correctly as it still needs to have air blown through it. The trumpet plays any song the user is/has most recently imagined or thought of regardless of it's difficulty or instruments already used in it. Subjects listening report hearing the song not only being played in instrumental form, but a singer being present and singing along if the song consists of lyrics. Subjects who go to touch the figure that represents the singer of the song simply pass through and usually respond with disappointment and sometimes aggression.
The main effect of the trumpet is when listened to. When the holder blows air through the trumpet and starts "playing" it, all subjects listening to it start changing in composition reasonably slowly. All organic matter that the subject/subjects are made of will turn completely into brass within exactly 30 minutes with the exception of the 'musician'. Subjects will express extreme discomfort around 3 minutes in as their internal body will start to change first. After around 23 minutes, most if not all of the subjects internal organs and other contents will completely consist of brass and will from here be deceased. Once it has reached 30 minutes the subject will completely consist of brass and is to be disposed of in correct manner. The subjects body mass does not affect the time and artificial parts of their bodies, e.g breast implants, etc. do not turn into brass and remain inside the now 'statue'.
Multiple government agencies have been reported trying to secure SCP-4285, some even going as far as making contact with GOIs in order to receive SCP-4285 due to amount the resources being able to be produced with it at the cost of living organisms. The foundation took it upon themselves to contain SCP-4285 in order to prevent possible wars, etc including the possibility of mass genocide. So far, little has been done by nations to secure SCP-4285 other than transmissions from various sources. These are all being monitored until further notice.
Addendum 4285 - Test 1
Test conducted on 0█/1█/201█
Class-D (Subject 1) entered chamber and picked up SCP-4285. Class-D (Subjects 2 and 3) entered. All subjects sat on stools provided and listened as subject 1 played SCP-4285. At 3 minutes, subjects 2 and 3 started to express extreme discomfort and pleaded to leave though were denied in doing so, scans showed their livers started to change composition into the same brass the trumpet would've been constructed out of. 20 minutes in, Subjects 2 and 3 passed out, most likely due to pain. At exactly 30 minutes in, Subject 2 and 3 were completely made of brass and no life signs were present, they were then disposed of and subject 1 was guided back to the CDCZ.
Notes: Subject 1 (holder of SCP-4285) did not obtain any physical complications, although was diagnosed with moderate mental trauma.
Addendum 4285 - Test 2
Test conducted on 0█/2█/201█
Class-D (Subject 1) entered chamber and picked up SCP-4285. Class-D (Subjects 2 through to 10) all stood in the chamber surrounding subject 1. Subject 1 was ordered to play the SCP-4285 facing the ground and to stop at 10 minutes in. Subjects 2 - 10 started showing the expected signs 3 minutes in and at 10 minutes Subject 1 stopped playing. The effects did not revert. Subject █ showed increased aggression than the others and was observed repeating the phrase "stop the pain". Subject █ then carried out an attack on Subject 1 and as a result subject █ was terminated. The test was terminated and all subjects were admitted to the Medical Bay for further examination.
Notes: Subject 1 received non-lethal injuries, while all other subjects died soon after the test due to vital organ failure.
Addendum 4285 - Test 3
Test conducted on 0█/0█/201█
Class-D (Subjects 1, 2 and 3) entered chamber awaiting orders. Subject 1 disregarded orders and picked up SCP-4285 while 2 and 3 proceeded to open the containment cell door with a stolen key-card. They then entered the Site-██ Announcement Room and played SCP-4285 into the microphone. Security personnel were deployed, terminated subjects and re-contained SCP-4285 within 4 minutes and 34 seconds. Site wide injuries were reported with 2 deaths occurring.
Notes: An ethics hearing was held soon after this breach and discussed further testing with SCP-4285.
Closing Statement After Test Occurrences: Due to unnecessary deaths and containment breach chances, further testing on SCP-4285 while being 'played' is prohibited unless authorization is given from the Ethics Committee through a unanimous decision.
Addendum 4285 - Interview Log
Interviewed: Subject 1 of the first test (0█/1█/201█)
↓
Interviewer: Dr.███████
↓
Foreword: This interview was held to give researches a better idea of what happened within the test due to the lack of hearing and/or radio devices.
↓
<Begin Log, 3:04 pm>
↓
Dr.███████: Hello Sir, today I'll be referring to you as "Subject 1". We'll be discussing what happened during the test featuring SCP-4285.
↓
Subject 1: Alright… I've been doing counseling for a couple months because of this. Don't restart the process.
↓
Dr.███████: Very well, I'll try my hardest. Now, can you explain what happened when you walked in, picked up the object and first blew through it?
↓
Subject 1: Well, when I saw it I nearly puked let alone put my bloody mouth on it. To be honest it was twitching, the fucking thing was twitching… Your guys were telling me to do it and they would've killed me… so I had to… I put it on my mouth as you instructed and blew, then beautiful music came out, like I'd been playing for decades. To be honest, I got carried away, I was playing a song that was stuck in my head with ease, I felt great. I was interrupted by screams. They were screaming, I didn't know what was happening, I kept going not knowing if it was me… or the SCP… anyway, I kept going for 30 minutes. Every minute was pain and trauma, every minute they got louder, until they were dead, gleaming with shiny gold or whatever it was.
↓
Dr.███████: I see. Were you effected in any physical way after or during playing SCP-4285?
↓
Subject 1: All I had was a disgusting taste in my mouth from it, it was like a metallic taste of some sort, but apart from that… no.
↓
Dr.███████: Interesting, so your saying it had a taste like a normal trumpet would have?
↓
Subject 1: Yeah, pretty much.
↓
Dr.███████: Alright, thank you for your time. [Signals guards to guide Subject 1 back to the CDCZ]
↓
<End Log, 3:51 pm>
↓
Closing Statement: Subject 1 continued mental treatment and attempted suicide shortly after the interview. It is not known if the interview caused this or another occurrence triggered it. He has been placed on foundation suicide watch.
