The Lone Star

Item #: 5031

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5031 is to be kept in a storage unit, located in site ███, sector ██. SCP-5031 is placed on pedestal, stored within a cubic, glass container.

Description: SCP-5031 is a 25.4 cm tall packet of designer drugs, otherwise known as ‘bath salts’. The front of the packet reads “AdreNoX”, and below it reads “not intended for human consumption”.

The contents within the packet are small, black, sphere-like pellets. Each pellet is approximately 0.3 cm in circumference, and is coated in a viscous, tar-like substance.

Discovery: SCP-5031 was discovered in a residential building, located in ████████, USA, during a narcotics bust orchestrated by the DEA. The house’s facilities, such as electrical power and indoor plumbing were out of service, and several buckets of human waste were strewn about the interior.

Upon entry of the premises, agents began detaining the residents. As the agents cleared the house, they also began to confiscate various illicit substances. Near the end of the raid, one of the agents had found a red, plastic packet of what was assumed to be narcotics. The DEA sent the unknown substance to a lab for testing, where they found that the intoxicant was anomalous in nature.

The foundation received the anomalous item approximately 48 hours later.

Addendum: The following is a report detailing a test conducted by Dr. █████.

AdreNoX Trial Run - 7/21/██

Subject: SCP-5031

Procedure: The contents inside of 5031's packaging were ground into powder, then distributed evenly into two lines across a table. Two D-Class personnel were made to snort the powder through their sinus cavities, where they would then report any cognitive changes to Dr. █████.

Results: Approximately 1 minute after dosing, one of the D-Class personnel began to complain of a lump in his throat, and shortly thereafter, he started to voice concerns over his escalating heart rate.

Dr. █████ stepped in to check the man's vitals: they appeared to be functioning normally, but his bpm was somewhere between 130 and 150. The other D-Class personnel was also experiencing the same effects, but Dr. █████ diagnosed it as a simple panic attack.

Approximately 3 minutes after dosing, both D-Class personnel began to perspire profusely, which was quickly followed by incoherent chattering. The chattering grew louder, until one of the D-Class personnel collapsed.

Quickly, the other D-Class fell to the floor as well. Both men had seemingly gone into a grand mal seizure, but were screaming, despite the violent muscle contractions. After about 40 seconds, the D-Class' bodies had gone limp, but were still shrieking.

Dr. █████ ordered his assistants to check the vitals of the D-Class personnel: Their hearts were no longer beating, their muscles began to experience rigor mortis, but their breathing hadn't ceased. It seemed that the only time the D-Class personnel would breathe was when they needed more breath to scream.

Dr. █████ observed the phenomena for approximately 20 minutes, before shutting down the trial run. The bodies of the D-Class personnel continued to scream, until they were incinerated as a means of disposal.

Analysis: The subject appears to paralyze certain muscles in the body, including the heart, while stimulating portions of the amygdala. At this time, it is unknown as to how the subject accomplishes this, therefore, further testing is required.
