The Man In the Cabin by: Guavity

Item Number: XXXX
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX, is to be kept within it’s cabin at all times. This cabin is to have a fenced in area around it of 14x14 square kilometers. These fences are to have a constant electrical charge running through them and are not to be taken down under any circumstance. Any spores exceeding the perimeter of the 12 meter mark, are to be immediately captured for research purposes. If at anytime a spore burst from SCP-XXXX is to arise, the research team assigned is to evacuate until further notice. Any other instances of SCP-XXXX, are to be immediately contained and kept a distance of forty-eight kilometers away from SCP-XXXX.
A four man team of Alpha-9 Task Force operatives, are to be kept on-site incase of containment breach. These men are to be armed with semi-automatic guns as well as steel batons. Two of said are to be put on guard in the front of the cabin and are to make sure the door is not breached. Said door is to have a steel beam in place at all times. It is only to be removed if a test subject is entering. Samples of SCP-XXXX are strictly forbidden to be taken directly from the cabin. If the steel beam is compromised, then the four man team is to act immediately following Protocol H-1 [See end of document]. If the four man team is compromised, Protocol H-2 [See end of document] is to be active immediately.

Description: SCP-XXXX, is a slow spreading virus. This virus seems to carry DNA dating back to ████ B.C.. This virus carries DNA from these times and has lead to multiple discoveries being vital for its containment. It’s influence over the time has appeared small and only small amounts of it is traceable to large events within its lifespan.
This virus, however, has a large influence over the human body. The current host of the body is a D-Class Personnel, under the pseudonym of “Cabin Boy” or SCP-XXXX-1. Since infection, the body of Cabin Boy has shown similar signs to that of a victim of SCP-610. Cabin Boy’s head has elongated and any trace of his face has sunken into his body. He is often times heard speaking in a language currently being deciphered. Over the course of a ██ hour period, Cabin Boy will often morph in body shape, making more or less mass. The reason for this has been decided by the research team. They believe it is growing and eliminating tumors.
SCP-XXXX, has the innate ability of predicting death. Six times per day, it will slide a small slip of paper through the bottom of the cabin door. These small slips are written in a language that has been deciphered into basic English. The slips spell out a person’s name, time of death, and how they will die. These slips have yet to be false in their predictions [See incident report SCP-XXXX.2]. These deaths are only of unnatural causes. They tend to focus heavily on deaths within the Foundation. In addition to knowing how these people will die, SCP-XXXX, even seems to mourn them by appearing in a gloomy and sluggish state when the time of death is near.

Addendum SCP-XXXX.1 Audio Log
Note; After it’s second year of containment, SCP-XXXX, has began showing signs of boredom. This was it’s fourth breach attempt, as well as the one that had done the most damage. Code names of the Alpha-9 operatives are given within the audio log.

Alpha: He’s gettin’ a bit rowdy in there…
Bravo: He always gets this way now a days.
Alpha: Wish he’d at least be a bit quieter.
Command: SCP-XXXX has been showing signs of hostility, keep on your toes if you wanna keep him in that cabin.
Alpha: Roger Command.
Bravo: Roger.
Centurion: Roger Command.
Delta: Roger Command.
Creaking from the cabin porch
Bravo: Um, what was that?
Alpha: Command, we’ve got movement.
Command: Roger, do you have visual?
Alpha: Nega-
Sound of splitting wood
Bravo: Holy crap! Get down!
Alpha and Bravo hitting the porch floor
Alpha: What in the fresh hell was that!?
Bravo: Get away from the porch! It plowed through that door it’ll go through us like butter!
Steps against the creaking porch and stairs
Alpha: Get out batons! Protocol H-1 is now active! Command, we have a containment breach!
Command: Roger! Get out of there!
Bravo: Alpha, duck!
Alpha’s radio fizzing and clicking
Bravo: Holy cra-!
Bravo’s radio cutting out entirely, followed by slow steady footsteps against crusted leaves
Centurion: Delta! Fortify the side and get ready to shoot on sight! Our lives are at stake right now!
A low growl and a pick up in the slow speed
Delta: It’s going for the fence!
Centurion: Command, get a search squad together! That things about to tear through the border!
Command: Roger, standby and do not engage. Casualties?
Centurion: Well I see Alpha and Bravo, maybe a good half of them.
[End Log]

After twelve days, a search team picked up SCP-1234 in the local town of [DATA EXPUNGED]. Both Alpha and Bravo’s torsos were found two miles from the cabin perimeter. Both showed a clean cut on both ends of the body, how SCP-1234 achieved such a cut is unknown. Upon spotting SCP-1234, the search team found SCP-1234 clutching an invisible object similar in grip to that of a bo staff. What this object could be was unknown, as coming within 10 meters the grip had became a clutch.
Guards from this incident on, were armed with a can of pepper spray and a taser.

Addendum SCP-1234.2 Incident Report
At ███ A.M. █████ ██, SCP-XXXX, had four cardboard cutouts of humans placed within it’s cabin. SCP-1234, seemed unbothered by the cutouts at all. The only strange activity shown was when one fell over. SCP-XXXX sprung into an immediate panic, sprinting back and forth within the cabin frantically throwing chairs at the cardboard cutout that had fallen. After breaking a chair SCP-XXXX, began to stand in the middle of the cabin in a hunched position, with it’s arms raised to the ceiling. After a half hour of it’s usual tumor growth and decay, a large tumor formed on its back. It began to shake wildly and the tumor began to vibrate. After five minutes, the research team was told to evacuate and security was told to evacuate as well. A helicopter was tasked with monitoring the area, armed with a sniper and tranquilizer darts. After █ hours of monitoring a burst of spores flew out of the cabin’s windows. A cloud began to rise up to the helicopter, which was immediately shot down and confirmed terminated. No operative returned to the site for █ hours, when the spores stuck to the grass.
The research team gathered ██ different samples, all showing signs of large mutation. SCP-XXXX, did not move for another █ days. After it resumed its regular activities. The mutations showed signs of a merging with the following diseases; The Common Cold, The Flu, and ███. SCP-XXXX’s cabin was closed off with steel plating on each opening. This plating was not removed until █ months later when a second spore sample showed signs of a removal of the diseases previously listed.
All operatives on this site are now required to wear hazmat suits at all times.

Addendum SCP-████.3 Incident Report
After SCP-1234.2 was confirmed to be over, the steel plating was removed. SCP-1234 resumed normal activity and habits. A sample of multiple diseases were put into the hands of the research team. The following diseases have been allowed to be released within this document;
The Common Cold

-The Flu
-Measles
-Tetanus
-Tuberculosis
Any other diseases are only for O5 council viewing.
Over the period of ██months, each disease was inputted into the cabin. Later spore samples showed signs of containment of the diseases. No form of combat against the diseases was visible, instead a form of containment. After these ██ months, a large spore burst was given off by SCP-XXXX, though smaller than that of the spore burst in SCP-XXXX.2, it spread out much more. After reaching the edge of the perimeter, ████ animals were put into containment with SCP-XXXX.
These animals after a period of ██ days showed signs of infection and began to grow and shrink tumors. Two of the animals died after infection, the other two moved with SCP-XXXX, in it’s daily motions. The only concern was that the animals could launch spores. This concern became reality as it happened on ███ ██, of that year.
The entirety of SCP-XXXX’s perimeter was coated with spores. Protocol H-3 was activated and all staff within the area was considered part of SCP-XXXX. A total of nine staff members were lost. The forest was blocked off until further notice or permission.

Addendum SCP-XXXX.4 Recovery Audio LogAudio Log
█ months after SCP-XXXX.3 occurred, a recovery team was sent in with flamethrowers, automatic weaponry, and a buggy. A ten man team went into the containment area and began burning the area around them in order to make a suitable campsite.
After █ hours, a small operation campsite was made in the containment area. A four man team was sent into the forest and were given radios. The following is the audio recovered from their radios.
[Begin Log]
Alpha: This is Alpha, we’re moving into the forest. We hear small movement in the woods, we’re going to leave it for now.
Command: Roger, proceed with caution. There is still the threat of the new Cabin Boys.
Delta: Is that what they called ‘em?
Command: Yes Delta. Now try not to die in there. Last two guys to be attacked were made into four.
Charlie: Roger, we’ll keep on our toes.
Bravo: It’s a long walk, conserve ammo and supplies.
Alpha: Keep on a path. One of us goes quite and we can’t find them, we consider them dead.
Charlie: Let’s just get this over with.
Forty-two minutes of walking
Alpha: I’ve arrived at the main site. The cabin has lights on. I can’t see anyone inside though.
Bravo: I’ve secured the West side, no signs of life at all…
Charlie: Same with the East.
Delta: I’ve got movement in the bushes every now and then. Usually a rabbit.
Command: Delta! Kill that damn thing! That was a reported infected animal!
Delta: Really?
Sound of automatic gunshots
Delta: Um, no yeah that thing isn’t dead.
Command: What?
Delta: Command, I just unloaded a clip into that thing, it’s still hoppin’…
Alpha: I see movement in the ca- [Alpha’s cuts out]
Command: Alpha? Alpha, do you copy?
Delta: Holy cra-!
Loud and high pitched screeching
Command: Delta! What just happened!?
Delta: I have to go dark! I gotta hide!
Charlie: I still see no movement, going to the cabin to check on Alpha.
Command: Bravo, status report!
Bravo: They’re… all dead…
Command: What? Delta? Delta report!
Bravo: This has to be a village full…
Command: Bravo! Report!
Bravo: I just found a cave. There’s a full wall with just mounted bodies… Those things must’ve found some hikers…
Command: Get out of there. They are casualties we’ll confirm later.
Charlie: Command, I found Alpha. Well, kind of.
Command: A clear answer damn it Charlie.
Charlie: I found half of Alpha. He’s missing everything but his legs. It’s a damn clear cut too.
Command: Stay away from the cabin! Do not go anywhere near it!
Charlie: Roger, holding.
Five minutes of dead silence
Bravo: They’re… here. I see them.
Command: Bravo, what do you see?!
Bravo: The Cabin Boys. The new ones. They’ve got uniforms on. I think they’re infected with something… They’re falling to pieces.
Command: Bravo, take them out. Load all the ammo you have into them.
Rapid fire and reloading
Bravo: They’re down. They’re not getting up.
Command: Leave the cave and report to Charlie. Charlie, status report.
Charlie: I see movement in the cabin. I see the steel beam they were using, I’m gonna try and put it in place.
Command: Do not go near that cabin!
Charlie: Command I don’t have a choice, cause whatever is in there saw me already. It’s lookin’ right at me. It's gonna try and come out, if I don't put that beam in place, it'll just kill us all.
Command: And you held this back why?
Charlie: Didn’t think it was looking at me.
Bravo: I’m going to the cabin.
Command: Bravo, fall back.
Bravo: I’m not leaving Charlie behind!
Command: Charlie’s not gonna be able to make it back if he goes near that cabin.
Bravo: I’ve got on a deer. It seems half dead.
Command: Do not engage and leave it alone.
Delta: [Gurgling noises with a rapid gunfire] I’m low on ammo! Command get us a rescue team!
Command: Delta? Delta report!
Delta: I’m being chased! There’s four of them! They’re wearing our gear!
Bravo: What? I just downed those-
Command: That’s the research team. How have you not been able to down them?
Delta: Command I don’t know, and I don’t care, just get us out of here!
Command: Meet Bravo at the cabin if you can.
Delta: Recovery right now isn’t my priority right now, we’re being chased in here like foxes!
Charlie: Ie secured the steel beam onto the door, Cabin Boy, is back in containment. Get a force in here as soon as you can to round up the others.
Command: … Copy, sending in torchers.
Charlie: Wait what? You´ll set this whole forest on fire! We’re still in here!
Command: We know you’re in there Charlie, but right now you’ve been exposed to SCP-XXXX.
Delta: You can’t be serious!
Command: You did well boys.
[End Log]
Any further loss during this recovery was the full intention of the operator of this mission. Twenty-nine hikers were confirmed to be hanging within the cave, them stumbling upon the abandoned site was pure coincidence.

Addendum SCP-XXXX.5 Test Report
After four months of containment SCP-XXXX resumed to normal behavior. Testing was allowed to resume, by permission of the site manager. It was recommended that SCP-XXXX should be kept very far from cross-testing. After this test, further cross-testing was banned, punishment would be followed by termination.
SCP-XXXX’s site manager gave permission to perform a cross-test with SCP-3056. This was to see if any human DNA could be affected by SCP-3056, or if there was any human DNA at all to be affected.
A sample of SCP-3056 was placed into a small hollowed out bullet. This bullet was then shot into SCP-XXXX, who reacted with immediately attempting to break down it’s cabin door. SCP-XXXX failed in this, as Protocol H-2 was activated in case of a pathogen leak of both SCP-XXXX and SCP-3056.
After injection occurred, SCP-XXXX began to show signs of infection after 3 hours. The reason for the increase in speed, is assumed that the methane produced by SCP-3056 aided in breaking SCP-XXXX’s disease containment tactic. During these 3 hours, SCP-XXXX began growing crystals along its body. Its activities remained the same, however over the course of 5 more hours, it became a concern that SCP-3056 would terminate SCP-XXXX, as it seemed to be unable to control the growth of these crystals.
SCP-3056’s crystals however, did not spark. The crystals began slowly to deform from around SCP-XXXX. A later spore sample showed signs of containment of SCP-3056. However the spores began to let SCP-3056 escape. This ended with four research staff deaths and two security deaths.
It is a rumor with the remaining staff that SCP-XXXX had let SCP-3056 out of it’s containment on purpose. Why SCP-XXXX would have done this is unknown.

Addendum SCP-XXXX.6 Incident Report
SCP-XXXX has begun showing aggressive behaviors to staff security. Such aggressive behaviors include; making strikes against the cabin door, reaching for the security staff through holes made in the steel plating by SCP-XXXX. This aggressive behavior has been met with a shock from a taser by frightened security staff.
After new and aggressive behaviors in SCP-XXXX began to sprout. It was not until after 4 weeks of these behaviors did onsite staff become endangered.
SCP-XXXX had not deviated from it's regular activities except to swipe at staff while walking by a window. It's fourth note of the day cam into possession of the research staff. After deciphering, it seemed to be almost a threat.
The note read as follows;
"In the August sun, of a deep and darkened forest. The ones that keep a beast within the center, shall be met with a tragedy. A blade will crash upon them with no remorse, and no sorrow. Those around the beast shall not survive.
Sincerely yours,
The Invisible Reaper.
"
This was not the normal formatting of each other note, which only ever gave a name, time of death, and how the death will occur. No other notes were slid under to door for the rest of the day. It was not until the next day, the note came to fruition.
The very next day, SCP-XXXX breached containment. Beheading the two guards guarding the cabin door. SCP-XXXX then proceeded to chase after remaining staff. The entirety of the staff was killed. A total of nine casualties were counted. After one month, SCP-XXXX was found in it's cabin writing notes. The surrounding trees had notes pinned to them with the bolts that kept the steel plating on the cabin.
Each letter was put into a pile and burned. SCP-XXXX's aggressive behavior continued. However, it did not make another threatening note.

Addendum SCP-XXXX.7 Test Report
SCP-XXXX's notes had never been wrong, but it has never been tested what happens if a note is taken into precautions and was attempted to be stopped.
The first note of the day was given out at █ A.M.. This note was given to the research team for decipher. The note read as follows;
"Warren Manchester. 9:00 P.M.. Humans, Refuted."
Warren Manchester was identified as D-235136. Humans, Refuted was identified as SCP-3199. D-235136 was immediately picked up and was placed into a containment cell for protection purposes. D-235136 did not want to comply, but was forced to. D-235136 collapsed in containment at 8:36 A.M.. SCP-3199 was reported to have breached containment at 8:43. SCP-3199 broke into D-235136's cell, killing D-235136, despite being shot at with fully automatic weaponry. After killing D-235136, SCP-3199 died due to loss of blood. Four security staff were slaughtered by SCP-3199 in order to get to D-235136.
SCP-XXXX's notes should not be interfered with, since it has been considered as cross=testing by SCP-XXXX's site manager.

Protocols

Protocol H-1
Protocol H-1 is a simple evacuation of SCP-XXXX’s immediate perimeter. No one is to be within 15 yards of the cabin after this protocol is activated, if someone is to go towards the cabin whilst this protocol is active, they are to be considered SCP-XXXX-2 and should be contained far away from SCP-XXXX. After forty eight hours, this protocol is deactivated.

Protocol H-2
Protocol H-2 is total encapsulation of the cabin in order to contain any further pathogen spread. Encapsulation will proceed as following; Each window will be entirely bolted shut with sheets of steel. The log cabin will then have any holes in it bolted up with steel sheets of metal. This protocol will deactivate after a month of no activity in the cabin.

Protocol H-3
Protocol H-3 is complete evacuation of the site. This only ever occurs if a large spore burst is to cover the entirety of the site, such as the event that occurred in SCP-XXXX.3. It is largely understood that this protocol should never be activated unless the entirety of the site is covered in spores. This protocol only deactivates once a hazmat team and a security team has secured SCP-XXXX into containment.

Protocol H-4
Protocol H-4 is the purging of the current Cabin Boy. SCP-XXXX has many samples that are frequently destroyed and replaced. If at any point the current Cabin Boy is to fall ill and does not make it through said illness, their body is to be incinerated, and SCP-XXXX is to be inputted into a new Cabin Boy.

Protocol H-5
Protocol H-5 is the total incineration of the site. This is only to happen if Protocol H-3 is to either fail or just feed into a worse situation. If SCP-XXXX is to revolt during this, SCP-XXXX is to be immediately undergo Protocol H-4. If at any point multiple instances of SCP-XXXX, all but one of the instances is to be destroyed entirely.

Protocol H-6
Protocol H-6 is entrapping of SCP-XXXX itself. After this entrapping, it will be placed into storage until further notice or mutation renders it to require a host. If such an occasion should arise whilst this protocol is active, a host is to be supplied via D-Class Personnel. The site itself will be reactivated and staff appointed to the site. Any unusual diseases found in a sample of SCP-XXXX should be considered a possible cross contamination. Thus activating Protocol H-7.

Protocol H-7
If at any time SCP-XXXX shows signs of cross contamination with another disease based SCP, the site is to be immediately evacuated. The staff on the site is to stay at the border an await reinforcements. After reinforcements have arrived, staff may be allowed to enter the site with hazmat suits. Any contamination of staff should be followed with immediate termination. If at any time SCP-XXXX should come in contact with Level 3 Personnel or higher, they should be met with immediate containment. They are to be treated like SCP-XXXX and should only be released from containment if they show no signs of infection after 1 month in containment with SCP-XXXX. If they are released they are to be given a physical examination immediately.
