Item #: SCP-XYXY
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: An area of radius fifteen (15) kilometres around SCP-XYXY is to be monitored by a group of Foundation personnel stationed at nearby Site-27.1 Should a C-# event initiate, any unaffected individuals2 are to be evacuated at the earliest possible convenience,3 and anyone trying to enter the town should be ushered away unless otherwise instructed. Non-Foundation personnel who exit the town or are evacuated during a C-# Event are to be amnesticized. Upon reaching the First (1st) of January, Containment Procedures are no longer considered necessary until the Twenty-Fifth (25th) of December the following year. During the time between those dates, SCP-XYXY is inactive, and requires no intervention.

Description: SCP-XYXY is a Class EL-ST Reality-Bending phenom encompassing roughly thirteen (13) kilometres around the town of ██████████, Washington. While that would normally be cause for concern, the effects notably only occur during Christmas, and generally only one effect can be observed at any given time.4 Through extensive research, it has been determined that the effects are generated by a request present on at least one (1) young child's Christmas List.5 However, despite the nature of many requests on these lists, it has been shown that many C-# Events have lead to the deaths (and anomalous replacements) of several town citizens, who seem to be unable to recall the events of the night in question.
It is currently unknown as to what causes these events to happen. After questioning the adult and adolescent citizens of ██████████, it became clear that they were unaware of any suspicious happenings, suggesting a memory-altering memetic effect.6 However, young children recalled impossible events, such as talking snowmen, flying in an anomalous sleigh and riding a reindeer with a bright glowing nose. However, some seemed apprehensive when recalling their experiences, to the point where personnel had to abandon questioning for risk of getting seen.
Addendum XYXY.1:
Addendum XYXY.2: In order to better categorise the C-# Events, multiple designations representing different levels of danger were conceived. These are as follows;
| Event Designation | Extended meaning | Characteristics |
|---|---|---|
| C-P | Christmas - Pleasant | C-P Events are marked by an incredibly positive atmosphere in ██████████. All citizens are usually out on the streets, leaving houses completely empty. During this time, a variety of non-threatening anomalous phenom can by observed. Previous C-P events detailed in Addendum XYXY.2 |
| C-N/A | Christmas - Non-Anomalous | C-N/A Events are marked by an almost complete lack of anything out of the ordinary. Citizens will not show any unexpected or unnatural behaviour. For all intents and purposes, a normal Christmas celebration. These are the most common C-# events. |
| C-V | Christmas - Violent | C-V Events are marked by extensive, life-threatening changes to ██████████ and the surrounding area. These changes have been shown to kill or seriously injure most of the population of ██████████. No matter what, the initiator of the event will always be left unscathed. Furthermore, SCP-XYXY-A, which is believed to have created the anomaly, seems to replace the killed or otherwise affected citizens with new, seemingly non-anomalous humans. However, these do not match the dead, though nobody in ██████████ seems to have noticed this. Previous C-V events are detailed in Addendum XYXY.2 |
Addendum XYXY.3: Below is a list of previous C-# Events, compiled by Agents █████, ██████████ and ██ while carrying out containment procedures.
