Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5078 is to be kept in a 40x40 meter (131.5 ft.) standard air-tight non-sentient concrete containment chamber. High-resolution security cameras are placed in various locations around SCP-5078's containment chamber to observe subjects. Three D-Class personnel are to be placed within a 30 meter (98.5 ft.) radius of SCP-5078 at different points during the day everyday for a total of 1 hour each and then to be terminated by flooding SCP-5078's chamber with dangerous gasses. The body is to then be removed by Robotic Cleaning Crew 5. This procedure is known as Norfeter-1.
Description: SCP-5078 is what appears to be a red spiral notebook with around 4 centimeters (1,1/2in.) of pages with no visible branding on the outside besides the SCP Foundation logo, name, and slogan in black vinyl on the cover. The origin of the notebook is unknown, but was originally located at a presumed Serphent's Hand Base which was discovered to be an empty warehouse with SCP-5078 and a slip of paper describing most of SCP-5078's anomalous properties at the entrance to the warehouse. Once all the anomalous properties were confirmed SCP-5078 was moved to Site-18 for proper containment by a series of drones. Any subject that enters a 30 meter (98.5 ft.) radius of SCP-5078 will have a strong and sudden urge to complete the notebook but will still have the ability to exit the 30 meter (98.5 ft.) radius of SCP-5078 or prevent themselves from opening the notebook for a total of five minutes before becoming an instance of SCP-5078-1. Once becoming SCP-5078-1 the subject will become completely brain dead and will no longer be able to resist SCP-5078's anomalous properties. SCP-5078 has also been observed to anomalously produce a pencil in the metal spiraling of itself when a subject enters the radius of SCP-5078. SCP-5078-1 will proceed to start writing in SCP-5078, footage from a camera directly above SCP-5078 shows that SCP-5078-1 will draw in-depth depictions of SCP subjects in numerical order with the SCP's number, object class, and a brief description of the SCP subject. SCP-5078-1 seems to always know this information despite not have knowing it previously. Once forcibly removed from the containment chamber SCP-5078-1 will anomalously know where the location of SCP-5078 is and will do anything in its power to reach SCP-5078. SCP-5078's range of effect will expand if no subjects become instances of SCP-5078-1. Procedure Norfeter-1 has been implemented to prevent SCP-5078's range of effect from expanding beyond SCP-5078's containment chamber. Procedure Norfeter-1 is made up of sending in 3 D-Class personnel inside the 30 meter (98.5 ft.) radius of SCP-5078 individually each at different points every 24 hours the room is to then be filled with the chemical gas know as [REDACTED] for each D-Class after they have been SCP-5078-1 for 1 hour. The body of SCP-5078-1 is to then be removed by Robotic Cleaning Crew 5 and placed into an incinerator to be disposed of.
Addendum: SCP-5078 Termination Attempt 1:
SCP-5078 was thrown into a standard industrial incinerator and came out unharmed even after sitting in the flames for over 30 minutes. Due to the result of this termination attempt the 05 Council has prohibited any more termination attempts of SCP-5078 with the note: SCP-5078 is a constant drain the SCP Foundation's resources, but attempting to terminate SCP-5078 is very futile in the grand scheme of the SCP Foundation's main goal."
SCP-5078 Incident A:
Site-18 experienced a raid from the Chaos Insurgency resulting in a site-wide containment breach, this prevented SCP-5078 from getting the number of victims is should have received daily. The entire site was put on lockdown so all entrances and exits were blocked off. The range of SCP-5078 expanded over the entire site and eventually started converting the SCP staff and trapped Chaos Insurgents into SCP-5078-1. the range of SCP-5078 became smaller after most of the people inside Site-18 became SCP-5078-1. SCP-5078 was extemly hard to recontain SCP-5078 due to the number of SCP-5078-1 instances, the job of terminating the SCP-5078-1 instances became even more difficult after realizing that the Chaos Insurgency had come with gas masks. The NTF team that was put in charge of recontaining SCP-5078 used spare machine guns located in the armory to kill off the remaining SCP-5078-1 Instances.
