Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: No personnel are allowed to stay within the perimeter of SCP-XXXX, especially if SCP-4356 is expected to relocate. Mobile Task Force Pi-12 (“Where’s Rockefeller”) is to set up a listening post outside the perimeter of SCP-XXXX‘s new location, where they will surveil the activities of SCP-XXXX-1. Should an SCP-XXXX-1 instance exit the perimeter, a member of Pi-12 is to follow the instance, and ensure that the instance returns to SCP-XXXX. All SCP-XXXX-1 instances should be inside the perimeter prior to SCP-XXXX‘s relocation.
Civilians attempting to receive employment at SCP-XXXX are to be directed to a false website for the refinery.
Description: SCP-XXXX is the designation of a 3 km2 plot of land, housing an oil processing refinery, 12 active oil pumps, and an undetermined amount of petroleum.1 Most structures within the area have shown signs of corrosion, presumably neglected by SCP-XXXX-1, with the exception of the oil refinery and extraction wells. Approximately every 24 months, SCP-XXXX will relocate to a new, petroleum rich spot on Earth.
SCP-XXXX-1, currently totaling 140, are the workers of SCP-4356. Each instance is clothed for cold weather, overlooking the temperature of the surrounding environment. Majority of the instances were a part of the refinery’s original workforce in 1972, some instances were civilians who breached containment and entered the perimeter of SCP-XXXX. Even though all instances are above the age of 90 years, they show no signs of cellular senescence and physically look mod-40 to 50 year old.2
SCP-XXXX-1 have only been seen leaving the perimeter of SCP-XXXX to post flyers at nearby population centers, advertising job openings for the refinery.
SCP-XXXX was first discovered during the Alaskan oil boom following the discovery of oil in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska.3 The area was purchased by the now defunct company, Amco LLC, in 1972. Majority of the workers were contracted to live inside SCP-XXXX.
SCP-XXXX had its first recorded anomalous event in 1974, relocating to an unknown location with all of the oil refinery’s workers. An MTF unit, Pi-12, from Site-213 secured the area, restricting civilian access. The event was covered up, reporting that an oil well fire burned the refinery and all of its workers. However, in 6/19/1994, one of the workers, identified as Jeffrey Jude Morgan, was seen walking into a town near Ontario, Canada; posting several flyers where he was spotted by his family, causing several news outlets to begin reporting his reappearance. A Foundation misinformation caimpaign began reporting that the family’s claims were hoaxes, and Site-201 sent a research team to perform a covert exploration of SCP-XXXX before the site relocated. See Exploration Log-XXXX for details of the mission.
SCP-XXXX was found 690 km from Baku, Azerbaijan on 3/12/1999. D-32471 was implanted with a tracking device and was given a falsified résumé. She was instructed to apply for a position in the refinery, where then the device would provide the Foundation an accurate location of SCP-4356. D-32471 successfully applied to work, whereafter SCP-XXXX relocated from Baku on 12/31/2000. An SCP-XXXX-1 instance was retrieved for an interview. See Interview Log-XXXX.02 for a transcript of the meeting.
Pi-12 submitted their proposed containment procedures of SCP-XXXX, and was permanently assigned to containing SCP-XXXX. The task force would occasionally encounter civilians attempting to enter the refinery for job applications.
Addendum XXXX.01: Several Foundation analysts believe that SCP-XXXX‘s oil reserves are unlimited. It is currently believed that it could take several decades until a rough estimate, for when the reserve would empty, could be determined.
