Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained in a standard humanoid containment cell measuring 5 metres in height and 5 metres in length. SCP-XXXX is to be provided with constant stimulation coming from either D-Class personnel, through interviews through face-to-face conversation, or through music played over the loudspeaker within the cell. A mercury-proof high quality ventilation system must have constant power, as failure to do so will result in the cell being filled with mercury fumes.

SCP-XXXX is a sentient and sapient colony of clothes. SCP-XXXX was recovered on 5/1/20██ in ███████, Scotland by SCP operatives embedded within the local police force. SCP operatives were alerted to the anomaly after repeated reports of corpses found dead due to eighteen times the lethal doses of Mercury(I) nitrate(Hg2(NO3)2). Said substance had entered the body through unknown means, prompting an investigation. The investigation lead to the discovery of SCP-XXXX and deployment of MTF Mu-13 "Ghostbusters" to contain it.

SCP-XXXX was found behind an abandoned clothing factory in a docile and outwardly friendly state, however when the mobile task force attempted to contain the specimen they were met by extreme hostility resulting in the loss of one operative and the disabling of three more. SCP-XXXX produced heavy amounts of Mercury(I) nitrate from [DATA EXPUNGED] soaking the clothing it is made of and exposing the MTF Mu-13 "Ghostbusters" to high amounts of toxic mercury fumes. Firearms were unaffective, however the use of the personal flame unit of the deceased operative disabled SCP-XXXX for a short amount of time, allowing the team to force it into containment and transfer it to Site-17.

Description: Biopsy of the specimen within its dormant state has revealed the components of SCP-XXXX to be: Four scarves, a beaked white mask of a time dating to the early to mid 15th century, fourteen individual pairs of gloves, each having an identical match, two suit jackets dating to the same era as the mask listed previously, twenty seven ties of varied patterns, a beaver-pelt top hat of a light shade of the colour cyan, a brown button up frock coat with twelve(12) buttons on either side. The frock coat acts as a sort of membrane, retaining the other articles of clothing within the mass. The interior of the “colony” is composed of a yet indeterminate mass of fabric scraps and a pair of black dress trousers. At the core lies a gray overcoat of indeterminate age inside of which lies a knot woven of an elastic, metallic substance. The core emits dangerously large amount of gamma radiation, enough to cause serious damage to human tissue as low as three(3) minutes. Due to this risk, dismantling of SCP-XXXX is not to be permitted.

Addendum: SCP-XXXX eluded containment on three separate incidents, all either resulting in the injury or death of foundation personnel. Initial confrontation between SCP operatives and SCP-XXXX was on 17/██/19██ between four operatives integrated into the local police agency. The unit was in pursuit of SCP-XXXX due to the long string of [DATA EXPUNGED] it was causing, along with public outcry for justice regarding the incidents. SCP-XXXX was found alone in the basement of an unnamed pub on the █████ side of the city, [DATA EXPUNGED] with the corpse of the recently deceased Jane ██████. SCP-XXXX reacted to the unit with extreme hostility following the actions of the unit to retrieve the body. All [DATA EXPUNGED] men were lost or otherwise [DATA EXPUNGED].

The second confrontation with SCP-XXXX was on 27/██/20██. A single operative had followed the trail of liquid created by SCP-XXXX alone after responding to a report of a scream and Mrs. ████ fleeing from the house missing [DATA EXPUNGED] in the neighborhood of ████████, Scotland. SCP-XXXX was found within the house hiding inside of a closet, and responded with kindness and affection to the operative, who recorded his conversation with the specimen in the following interview log.
